Watch_Dogs |OT| PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

Damnit, ruining more art work.
And are Steel books going to be DVD or BD sizes?

Ugh I'm getting mine from Target too...I hate that they put those stupid banners on there.

Not me in the image.
I partially want to trade and rebuy AC4 just to get a cover without the Target banner.
Walmart will also have a special banner too.

Called up a local shop this afternoon wondering if they had it. The guy said they had it on Friday and they sold out of their copies for every single system. Damn!

That video also proves that most if not all of the cutscenes are real-time. Nothing more jarring than having an alternate costume on and then going into a cutscene to see the regular costume. Also, not seeing any differences from that and the tgs 2013 demo.

I've been told that AC:IV doesn't have pre-rendered custscenes, so it's weird when I see my character wearing something different. It's one of those things you really only notice when it's done wrong.

Watched some ps4 footage and I'm ok with how the game looks. Its not reveal quality but it looks good. I actually preordered my ps4 along side this game last year, and after it got delayed I thought I had lost all interest in this game. This weekend though I've been reading this thread and reading impressions along with watching twitch streams and I gotta say I'm pretty fucking hyped to play this game. Any good details of multiplayer? Im more interested in single player and invasion but haven't really read up on what multiplayer has to offer.

I fully plan on playing for 24 hours straight once the PSN download is complete. I'll be in online mode, if anyone wants to join my game - my PSN ID is in the google doc.

Ill just invade you without you knowing :p

I wonder if I should wait until Wednesday and get a copy from Target, or just get it on PSN and enjoy what I can before my busy day on Tuesday... grrr... pros and cons for both...

With Watch Dog's E3 2012 trailer, Bioshock Infinite, etc. it makes me wonder if more video games will use a bait and switch to generate initial hype.

Watch Dog's still looks great, but not even on the same level as what we initially saw.

I highly doubt it's on purpose. The developers are probably more disappointed than a lot of you are.

They didn't do it on purpose obviously. They had high technical ambitions and ran into issues due to working on so many platforms. Early WatchDogs was shown before next-gen was even announced, so it lies in a bit of a weird spot.

Sure, what we got doesn't look as good, but the original game is still mostly there. Compare that to Bioshock Infinite where the original couple of demos for the game didn't represent the actual gameplay all that well. We really did get a different game than what was shown. On a pure technical level of achieving the mechanics they wanted, it just wasn't possible, even more so due to the hardware.

Exactly, given the amount of platforms they had to develop for I think they did a good job. I know this game is going to be successful, and hope ubisoft gives this 1000 man team the time it needs to improve on this franchise instead of trying to cram a sequel down our throats every year. I have high hopes in its sequel but lets see how this first one plays out. Im more concerned about the variety and missions and AI to give a shit about the graphics. Theres more to games than graphics guys. Im sure most of you agree except for dennis :p

Again, not only does it look much better, but the events in the trailer are highly scripted. I bet Ubisoft knew full well that what they were showing wouldn't actually happen in the final product.

Is the story mode really 35hrs long and supposedly 75hrs to fully complete it (100%)

(I read those numbers somewhere)

Yeah it's hard to tell when devs say this. On the back of Grandia it said something like 80+ hours and I think I beat everything in 55 hours. lol

It's a strategy to draw interest in the product. They know exactly what they're doing when they go out on stage with a guy holding a controller. The cover of the game even highlights the number of e3 awards they received.

The Division re-reveal will be fun.

How can I find fellow GAFfers to play with or against on PC?

Post your Uplay id and say you'd like any fellow PC players to add you, though I don't know if the game has any sort of party system so setting up rendezvous may be problematic.

So I played a lot since Saturday and in my opinion Watch_Doge is a really good game. I would say, its the best Open World game on Next Gen so far.

Im in the second act of the story and so far the production of the story is interesting and lead to some really cool missions. Noteworthy is in my opinion that you can do a lot of Missions without killing anyone or shot everyone down

So far i met only Clara and Jordi, but the characters are cool, especially Jordi 'cause he is a really funny criminal

Multiplayer can be really tricky, its sometimes not as easy as the footage Ubisoft presented suggests. Sometimes are Hide master and sitting in the latest corner and using blackout, :)

Its also not a collectible fest such as AC IV, well atleast it doesn't feel like it.

Its not having Graphics as good as Infamous but i would say the whole Open World experience is lot better, so yeah you could say it is a better sand box game.

That was my little preview without saying too much. I would recommend the game

Fortune telling:

I predict atleast a 85+ score, maybe around 90

I play on Ps4, you can add me if you want: VerdeVermillion

Marketing gonna market. I'm talking about the people coding the game.

Gameplay-wise, I can really see no downgrade.

Ubi @ E32012 "This is what we think Next-Gen will be like!"

*receive PS4/Xbox One dev kits months later*

"Oh. :("

Execs: "Oh, and don't forget we need to develop for current gen too!

"Oh :("

Legit. There aren't many of those textures in the game though. It's quite jarring to see haha.

I think he's referring to the buildings being reflected in the window when there's the sea on the other side.

I hate getting into a conversation about developer intention, especially because these teams are so huge. E3 demos are always highly scripted, condensed chunks of gameplay. I don't recall seeing anything in that trailer that was too out of the ordinary for a curated E3 demo.

And the game's not out yet so it's hard to compare direct mission scenarios or gameplay with that demo anyways.

Kinda makes sense. If they did a true mirror then the game would probably drop to 2fps.

You would think with the 1000+ man team that one guy would be in charge of doing glass reflections and could have went to each locations and could have gotten somewhat of a match. Maybe they do have a guy and he's just lazy.

Someone posted this in a different thread. I hope that in Watch Dogs 2, the developers can add a lot more detail to their world. Watch Dogs looks better but the world isn't as detailed.

That last 10 secs of that video with the hydrant was funny as hell. "NextGen?"

Interesting video though. Seemed that both where made from the PC version. But it didn't seem as GTA4 wasn't running any mods. I wish I could confirm that. But definitely more detailed than WD it seemed.

Watch dogs must be running on the lowest PC settings or running on last gen hardware.

Edit: apparently it's the PC version maxed out!

I don't care about the reflections that much, it's just a tad jarring to see. Not sure if an opaque haze would be better. A static texture would be horrible.
So hyped for this game. The aesthetic and gameplay jives with me. I am only sad that I don't have a day off from work until Friday to truly enjoy it. And even then Friday may be a day at King's Island.

I think profiles are going to bring a lot of laughs for some time to come.
A nifty feature would be allowing players to set their own profile. Just for invasion purposes.

About five hours in, I would say 85. Very solid overall.

Looks great at night, average during the day. Helpfully the game will time shift a lot of your missions to the night for you.

PC version runs like garbage and isn't noticeably better looking than current gen console even on ultra. Go console unless you mind a little bit of frame tearing.

No one can beat Rockstar in the "random miniscule detail" department. That's one of the things they unquestionably have going for them alongside the lighting system and thunderstorms. Where other open world titles can catch them is interaction with AI, interaction with the environment, systemic events, missions design, and nailing mechanics. Basically the core gameplay loop, which I don't think has been that strong in GTAIV or GTAV.

What console are you playing it on?

Battlefield, and I believe Infamous SS, does the same thing at times too. I mean on one of the Battlefield 4 maps, Operation Locker, in which the majority of the map is indoors there exist cabinets with glass. The glass cabinets have an impossible reflection of mountains and snow, Every time I see them I want to jump though the magical portal but alas i cannot. I think it's just an oversight. Attention to detail and all that. It could also possibly be resource allocation. I mean everything can't be unique. Not every studio can be a Rockstar when it comes to detail.

Two newspaper machines with the SAME GLASS window asset.

0/5, uninstall, shut down Ubi.

I see 4 machines using 2 textures for glass.
This small of a detail doesn't break immersion for me.
Having a crowd of character models or cars all looking the same or same class does though.
