Point taken, at the end of the day all this doom-saying makes me sound like an old lady who claims video games & rock music are the devil. Realistically speaking, not much will change, the method of consuming media changes but nothing else. I mean even Holodeck grade VR wouldn't be that tantalizing, you'd still feel the need to socialize. Although you will have one or two pariah's like that guy who died playing games non-stop.

Lol watching weird otakus participate in this quarter-of-the-way-there, half-ass VR is kind of sad. Rigging this expensive, gimped-experience stuff is so much easier for them than just getting a girlfriend.

Edit: they should rename it Otaculus because they're gonna be the only ones using this tech in a couple years

There's a stigma attached to (I don't even know how to categorise pony's and Japanese cartoon girls)this stuff for a reason. A lot of people look differently at people who are into this stuff.

It may mean I'm ignorant or whatever. But if I found out one of my friends was into this shit I don't know If I could look at him the same.

I mean sure, I guess it is harmless, doesn't make it any less weird or creepy unfortunately.

For the people implying the dudes into this stuff can't get girls and get rejected left and right.. Well maybe this kinda weird stuff might just be the reason real women aren't interested in them whatsoever?

How to categorize Pony's? Holy Shit Bro! How do you categorize Disney then? They're just cartoons and to hell with anyone who interprets otherwise.
And when people say anime I always assume they mean the shit pile that is Shonen and Moe anime. Watch Ghibli for Christ sake! That's anime!

Has anyone here even heard of the person who created the new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series? Lauren Faust? She was the person behind Powerpuff Girls and Dexter (the non-serial killer one). She intended the show as harmless entertainment that could be enjoyed by boys and girls both despite Hasbro issues with selling towards boys. The show also found a wide adult audience in both men and women partly because of it's witty and genuinely funny writing as well as some gorgeous flash animation.

Yes there are wierdo's who have tarnished the reputation of the show but they are no different than those Sherlock fans who write slash fiction about the protagonists or those GoT fans who think Jon Snow & Arya Stark should totally sex. They are a disgusting but very small minority of fans, a few rotten apples at best. 10% of the actual fandom. They rest just like the show and make the occasional piece of art or music inspired by it. If you listen or look at some of the good stuff you'd be surprised but NAH! Why make the effort when you can simply judge from the outside?

Saying she was the person behind those two series is a bit misleading, like she was the creator.

I have nothing against pony fans. I was into powerpuff as an adult male. Although i did have the excuse of watching with my kids.

Yeah, there are like 500 models of Miku out there and a load of them are higher detail than that.

I kinda doubt that this is aimed at people who just don't have any luck with real women, they'd use more realistic characters then (or at least some poser crap). This is aimed at people who prefer the look of anime girls over human girls (and don't want to ask a real girl to wear a mask).
