We have ignition (AKA Official Meteos Topic)

I'm debating between buying either Meteos or Kirby...they both seem to get similar scores so I'm torn between the two...any opinions on which one I should pick up first?

Do you want a unique puzzler or a unique platformer?

I'm looking for the game I can get the most replay value out of. I don't want to get caught with another shallow DS game that I play the hell out of for a few days and then rarely come back to.

Meteos and Kirby are both games that fully justify the DS, imho. Neither are underdeveloped, rushed, or shallow. That said, Meteos, by it's puzzler nature, offers more replay value. Though, there's something to be said about Kirby and it's 5 characters, most of which mix up the gameplay quite a bit.

I just noticed that you can get a crapload of points on Brabbit if you play a certain way. Just got 442,680 points in Deluge just now. :lol This game is great.

Any tips for the Hot and Chilles mission? I just can't launch that many Meteos at once, no matter what approach I try.

you're right, Hotted is a difficult planet to get points on, I'm still in the 80k range. You'll mostly have to rely on step jumps, starting near the top of the screen and work your way down. Once you have a rocket that is as wide as the screen launced, you can try to launch more meteos under it to make the block larger as long as there are matches to be made...I'm not sure if it's possible to get a large multiplier in this level because once you get past x3, every ignition afterwards gets weak to the point where it doesnt do ANYTHING. I haven't been fast enough to try secondary vertical ignitions though...

Oh, and the only way to get past x2 is to play over 2:00 and launch a rocket that's as wide as the level. If you're lucky, the entire thing won't fly off screen and you can try getting larger multipliers, but if you don't have any luck getting that block off the screen like me, you are screwed.

Rarse. I will have to battle you sometime Darth S****

I just noticed I've played meteos for 30 hours total so far. Felt like 5 or 6. :O

this is quite an old thread but...
I wanted to share my love/addiction to Meteos.

unlocked everything already but keep playing.

got a co-worker totally hooked with the demo to the point that he got the game.

one of the best puzzlers/DS/portable games ever, love it in many ways

I also want to confirm that I've had dreams about meteos (sleepless nights) and kept listening Starii inside my head for a couple of days...

btw Yooj rules :D

is there any good interview to the team from Q Enterntainment?

I got my DS and Meteos a few days ago. It's so cool how you go from making 3, to setting up multiple launches, to keeping a FULL SCREEN BOOST active for as long as possible :) Man, I wanna play this against someone else, gotta find other DS owners at work.

So far, whenever my friends with DS's get together (which is at least 3 times a week) we play this for hours. It's so addicting. I loaned it to my friend so he could improve his skills and become a real challenge. It's so addicting, the other reason I lent it to him was because I need to spend more time with AW.

Man, I love this, but it's way too hard to LOSE and get the worst enemy. :(

I keep on winning that part at 1:45 even though I only pull self defense.

A couple questions about Star Trip mode

When I launch a soul meteos in this mode, does that count toward my total? What if I die after launching it?

If I deliberately die during the credits mini-game, do I not get a bonus that I otherwise would have? ie, unlocking sounds/planets

k thanks.

From 1UP:

"note: The ending credits are a gold mine for rare metals. Don't sit thorough the credits! Become an active participant and try to launch as many Meteos during the ending credits. Remember, every successful Meteos launch will be added to your Meteos bank."

Huh, I suppose I should continue playing then.

-edit- oh AWESOME GAME btw. I suck, but I'm not bitter!

Yes, the credits game rocks for harvesting. Don't forget it lasts longer on three or four stars difficulty and really long on five stars.
