We have ignition (AKA Official Meteos Topic)

I too am susceptible to the Meteos hallucination / dream. When I stop a long play session, I'll start seeing phantom meteos here and there. It's especially palpable if I try to sleep right after, because I just see the game when I close my eyes.

Same damn thing happens when I play games like Tetris, Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, and Lumines too.

I don't just see Meteos. I hear it... :(

btw, I love Oleana.

Hahah, it was hilarious to find that other people are experiencing the same problems I'm having with Meteos playing inside your heads. It's crazy, my mind just sets up different situations which I shift blocks up and down to try and produce the best results, for example I'll shift 2 blocks on either side of a single gap and slot one in the middle to produce a 5-line horizontal to blast off. It's starting to get annoying though, whenever I close my eyes it's there, as soon as I woke up this morning I had to reach for the DS to play a few rounds just to rid myself of the inkling to play.

Perhaps we should start a Meteos Addicts Anonymous club! :lol

Guys check out all the wallpapers over at the Meteos website, they have the art for each of the worlds available in resolutions up to 1600x1200

How are you guys going with the your phantom meteos'? Today I was driving along the freeway and thinking about how best to align the different colour cars beside and in front of me. :lol

Your challenge is accepted. Here is my current 100 Meteo top three, heh:

:D

I've been trying to beat this time and I managed to get 7.35 exactly. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry.

I'm still at it, but I don't think I'm going to get any lower than that.

My copy arrived this afternoon. So far im liking it but i have to get used to it. The last puzzle game i played is Chu Chu rocket. I having some hard times but then there are stages that i clear with ease. I really dig the all the different planets with their own music, sounds and meteos.

I need to play it some more but i like what ive seen :)

I lost interest in this game, been playing Kirby more.

After week 1 I strayed, not playing it over the holiday weekend. The bug has come back and hit me full force though. I'm back to playing every evening.

it just turned up for me today. good god it's a sweet, sweet game.

haven't got a single precious metal after an hour or so though, I think I've seen 1, but it was on the bottom and I was to dumb to figure out how to launch it.... figured it now though, what do the metals do?

You use all of the Meteos to fuse new things. Like new planets, sound sets, items and eventually, you will be able to fuse the rare metals.

I still play this game every day, my favorite planet is Freaze or something like that, the music in that stage and the gravity are perfect and it's easy to match the meteos.

I still don't understand how you beat the illusionist level in the star trip mission mode. Wtf? There's no mission given, yet I always fail. I can't finish the top route as a result. :(

one thing I don't understand is why sometimes when you make secondary ignitions in a flying stack, the whole stack blasts off again, but other times, just that half of the stack will seperate and take off from the rest of it. I still havent got a single precious metal either. And how do I set off the weapons? They just seem to randomly activate.

Love the amount of stats etc, like someone said, very smash bros feel to it.

EDIT: you people getting 7 seconds on the 100 meteos war, WTF? it takes me about 40 seconds. are you speeding up time the entire round?

Same. I've never gotten that top route :(

The secondary explosions always seen random to me too. That is why I try to drag them down as far as possible. To activate items, just tap them with your stylus. 7 seconds on 100 meteos war is hard but you can get under 10 if you just hold L or R to speed up time and scratch at the screen like crazy. If you get less than 10 seconds, you get 500 of every common Meteos, or something like that. I don't remember exactly, it was a while ago that I did that.

I could never get more than 12 or 13 seconds that way. I'm supposed to scratch vertically, right?

Hm, which level is this? I've gotten the top route in the japanese version, the hardest mission to figure out there was the one where you're supposed to do an attack with 75 blocks or more at least once and then win.

No, you're supposed to do a full-width boost really fast and then launch it all with a vertical booster. Hehe.

Oh... and you get a vertical booster by turning off all of the other items and putting that one to high frequency?

No, I mean... a vertical booster when you have a full-width rocket already. You should have a full-width going at around five seconds, then you can usually launch the whole thing by aligning a standard vertical three-blocker. They have a much higher boost stat on that level. Edit: There are no items in the Time Attack modes anyway.

I got under 10 seconds for the first time this week (9.12 without scratching) and I only got 100 of each of the common Meteos.

Oh yeah? It must have been 100 then. I completed that task the second or third day I had the game so I don't remember.

loving the game, but what does successfully completing a mission do for you?

getting to every end of the star trip multiple path (middle one in star trip) unlocks something.

After reading your post about getting 500 I got excited and started trying to get it and then was disappointed when I only got 100. :(

Different paths lead to different endings, which lead to more unlockables opening up.

Heh, sorry about that. At least you got 100 of each of the common Meteos and you can say you beat it in less than 10 seconds.

Do you get the 100 every time, or just the first time? Cuz unlocking has become increasingly difficult now, and honestly, 100 Meteos of a particular common element is but a drop in the barrel.

(I'd still like to accomplish it, however.)

AFAIK, you only get it for the first time. 100 Meteos now is't all that much seeing as how I need more than 1000 of certai Meteos to fuse things, but yeah, it's another accomplishment to add to the list. I wish there was a list though that you could check because there are quite a few in the game.

pretty sure it's just the first time. gives you one of those announcements where it comes up on the screen and says "congratulations you have....."

Thanks. Ah well, I'm trying for under 10 seconds again now. Just not quite getting this scratching trick everyone talks about. I guess it's nowhere near as powerful or game breaking as some early importers suggested.

Not at all. The scratching trick works when you're in a tight pinch but you need to get lucky with it. It really ins't game breaking at all.

It's pretty useful, when you get a big stack of them and its beeping and you're about to lose, just go sort of crazy with the stylus dragging blocks up and down. It works, but it's not like pushing a win button. Doing that it took me about 25 tries to beat the 100 meteos war. it helped for the 1000 meteos war as well (that thing goes crazy at the end). Once you beat the 100 meteos war, you will have learned it pretty much.

Heh, yeah. Once you reach ~700 meteos, it just goes into overdrive. :lol

I have never used the scratching trick and had not too much trouble in beating 10 seconds in the 100 meteo war and completing the 1000 meteo war.

Like demi, I too have lost a bit of interest in this game, I've been working on Kirby a bit more, it just seems that I'm not unlocking anything, I might get back to the third non-branching form of the star trip mode to see if I can complete the missions.

I was under the impression that it doesn't matter how many meteos you've launched, I thought it was dependant upon how much time you've spent. It's so easy to get ~2:00 when you get 3-4 columns ready to launch and then speed it up until it flashes and then move one meteo to launch the whole thing.

Amount of blocks speeds it up in the 100/1000 ones, time speeds it up in 2/5 minute ones.

So I finally beat the top branch of the mission route earlier this week.

I must say, Hevendor and Real Meteo were bitches, though. :lol

Real Meteo? Oh shit. Might have to work at beating the top route after all.

oh, and btw: Don't go to the illusionist stage. You can't reach True Meteo (that's the actual name of the stage. Not Real Meteo. Sorry, I goofed) from the illusionist levels.

The easiest way to reach True Meteo is by completing the Hot & Chillies mission (launch 50 meteos at once), then by completing the Rare Cultures (Globin, Lastar, or Subordian) and Hevendor Realm (Hevendoor against three computers) stages. There are no missions to complete on Rare Cultures of Hevendor Realm.

alternatively, you can go to True Meteo by beating the Clean Air Club mission, then Rare Cultures, then Hevendor Realm. But Clean Air Club's mission requires launching 75 meteos at once.

The real bitch is getting the ending from the bottom branch. Luna=Luna is a pain in the ass. You'll see.
I didn't have a problem with that.

I'm debating between buying either Meteos or Kirby...they both seem to get similar scores so I'm torn between the two...any opinions on which one I should pick up first?

GaimeGuy said:

The problem lies in that you need to fail that mission in order to see the bottom ending, and losing it is tougher than you think.

In any event, I haven't been able to clear the Hevendor Realm yet in order to reach True Meteos. I just can't kill the CPU off, time always runs out first.

Beating Luna=Luna in 2:30. I've reached the bottom ending before. You just have to keep it on the verge of destruction, and then finish it off in the last 30 seconds. It's actually harder to fail the mission than to complete it, but it's pretty easy either way.
