So why exactly have we not gone back to the moon? Been watching some UFO videos (here comes the calvary!) and I do find it a bit weird that over 50 years ago we went to the moon and somehow have not been back, when god knows what we may discover (not referring to aliens, referring to evolution of the moon, history of, etc).

We need to go back! We weren't supposed to leave!

edit:
The Soviets claim that it would be impossible due to the VanAllen belt (an area between the earth and the moon) that is so highly radoactive that Neil Armstrongs Ball's would have fallen off, after the ONE STEP FOR MAN speech, I myself have not done alot of research on this subject of fatal radioactivity in this area, but experts claim the apollo capsules would not have had the sheilding necessary to sustaian the men on board on the way there nevermind the trip back ,and for them to still be alive today.

Uh, there's nothing of value on the moon? Are you kidding?

There's Helium-3 (I think that's the right number) on the moon. That would be well worth the investment.

I'm assuming that's part of it. Maybe the cost, and they want to see other things.. teh moon is old news dewd :P

Pretty much.

Big expensive pissing contest, but with that achieved and all, the moon isn't exactly teeming with natural resources to be utilized. At this point, it's just a chunk of real estate that's significantly less hospitable than even the South Pole.

A lunar base could certainly be a factor in long distance space travel in the distant future, but now? What's the point? Very expensive, if not currently impossible, with what utility?

I do remember reading somewhere that they are interested in setting up a base on the moon at some point as a precursor to a Mars settlement.

36 years to be exact - Apollo 17 in '72 (the 11th manned mission). Ignorant moon hoaxers tend to think there was only one w/Neil Armstrong.

Likewise.

That and it was a sound stage on Mars.

NASA has plans underway to go back to the Moon guys.

Also, all you naysayers that are like "We haven't been to the Moon yet" need to PM that to Fallout.

Please :lol

We are going back (to strip mine it!) Supposedly Helium 3 is the answer to all of our energy needs for the next 1000 years. Fun fact too, they have found a way to extract oxygen and water along with helium 3 from moon rocks.
