We need another Bill Clinton

America isn't ready for a true progressive in the White House. I know a lot of you think we should have nominated a hardcore leftist like Bernie Sanders, but that clearly isn't the answer given what we know about who voted for Trump. We can't nominate a woman again until Michelle Obama holds public office for 4-8 years, or a non-white person for that matter. If Democrats want to win back racist whites, we're going to need to nominate a master politician in the mold of Bill Clinton. A new "Third Way" operative that can destroy Trump 4 years from now by winning back whites and retaining black voters. No more discussion of BLM and police brutality. No more discussion about the wage gap and sexism in society. No more discussion of Islamiphobia in America. White people are not ready for that, we know this now.

It's time to start playing to win. I believe in all the causes I just said we shouldn't talk about anymore, and I still believe we should nominate someone who will be on the right side of these, but we can't approach political discourse in America the same way we used to. The white vote is too volatile, Bill Clinton above all else knew this. We all thought that changed this year, but we were wrong.

For those concerned about having a first female president, you have to understand that Michelle Obama is our last shot at one that we'll get in this generation. Vote for her if you live in electorate she will run for, and hope for the best in 2024 or 2028. No woman will have a shot at higher office without having first been connected to a powerful and well loved man. That's just the way America is.

Michelle isn't going to run, as much as I would love her to.

And I'm not sure what the Dems should do. It's easy to say a centrist approach would work but it's also hard to discern how much Clinton lost because of perceived baggage vs her actual message.

No, thanks. Bill Clinton's third way nonsense is to blame for A LOT of the current failings in American society. America needs another Barack Obama.

In this modern age of instant media and stories/scoops spreading like wildfire, I honestly don't know if Bill Clinton would get elected in 2016 with some of the baggage that he had.

Honestly Michelle has much more Charisma than Clinton did, I wouldn't be surprised if would have done much better under a similar scenario inspite of her handicaps politically.

OMG, have y'all not learned ANYTHING after last night? The country is OVER corrupt and career politicians. Last night proves that.

Let's get another white male into office ...

and I'd like another Bill Clinton .. btw. Hopefully he's a minority.

America's response to the first Barack Obama was to elect the man who spent three years demanding to see his papers.

Corey Booker?

Guys I don't literally mean we get another Clinton to run, I'm talking about a charismatic third way politician.

And don't count Michelle out for the future. Obama's legacy is about to be completely trashed. They're going to want to reclaim it one way or another...

He'd never get through the primary because he's pro-life and pro-gun, but John Bel Edwards (LA Governor) is probably the best "southern moderate Dem" we got.

We need a more left wing, progressive candidate. The Democrats keep trying to be moderate and it's not working.
Again, the Democrats elected a left wing, progressive candidate and the American electorate's choice was to elect Donald Trump.

The left needs an FDR or LBJ that speaks directly to poor rural whites.

I bet the next candidate will be a white male from a rural area that speaks directly to those people. Hell thats kinda what Bernie Sanders was all about.

Welfare for the rural areas will be a major topic when Trump doesn't bring the jobs back.

Edit: stop trying to "check the boxes" by electing (insert first minority president here). Left has to play it safe and counter with a white male if they want to win a midterm presidential election.

Obamas don't owe America anything. They put up with vile shit, fought hard, and their legacy is going to be torn down by a kkk clown.

We let them down.

We don't need any more Clinton anywhere near politics.

Hopefully a special prosecutor seals this deal.

Yes what we need right now is another empty suit. I don't want to see another Clinton again in my lifetime. In fact I don't even want to see them in the media again. Go and enjoy your millions in retirement and leave us alone.

Obamas presidency has been a complete failure with Trump as a result.

I'm sorry but Trump is his legacy.

America needed Bernie 16 years ago...

I am sickened for the name to be even mentioned he's a Republican plain and simple. Being slightly more socially accepting doesn't flip the party that his views generally align with. He's also just amazingly unlikable and smug.

Put in Booker and let it rip.

What are you talking about?
They did not elect Bernie Sanders.

Hillary is the antithesis of a progressive in the Democratic spectrum.

Historic question: how much did Obama talk about minority rights and other progressive issues compared to the Clinton campaign in 2016? Because I don't remember hearing as much about it back then, but then again that was 8 years ago so my memory doesn't hold up too well.
