Hmm, the formatter or whatever is processing these needs context options, like say for example;

cat_plays_with_string.webm?loopnosound or lns for short
plays virtually identical to a gif.

cat_plays_with_string.webm?videonosound or vns for short
plays like an embeeded youtube video, requires a click to start, no sound options.

cat_plays_with_string.webm?videowithsound or vs for short
plays like an embedded youtube video, requires a click to start, has sound menu.

If neogaf were to ever approve these as a new format, it would likely only be the lns format, a exact replacement for gifs.

I love how if any of these get stuck on a frame, on Chrome you can just right click > show controls and then press the "play" button.

Anyone else also using Opera here (the "real" one, of course, version 12)?

I'm trying to get the Greasemonkey script to work. In theory, Opera supports these, and if I execute the script manually (i.e. inside the console of Dragonfly, Opera's Firebug), everything works just fine.

But I can't get the script to execute by adding it to the folder of Opera's user scripts. Does anyone have an idea why that could be the case?

The one thing I wish that Firefox has that Chrome doesn't is automatically generated thumbnails. In Chrome I have to wait for a video to load before I can see the thumbnail, in Firefox it's already there.

But I just wish .webms worked as flawlessly in Firefox as they do in Chrome, lol. It's like night and day.

AWESOME! I switched to click-to-play but I think hover-to-play is better, especially since it ensures you are only ever 'playing' one webm at once, which is a really important to keep cpu use in check.

Can you do a volume option? Like say force all webm to have starting volume of a certain percent? I think that would be useful. FWIW i mostly use the firefox script, but good to have it on chrome too.
