Proof that GTA isn't a PSP system seller!!!!
this is kind of silly. selling software != selling hardware. let's see some hardware charts. THAT would tell us if it was a system seller or not. if you see a huge surge in software sales but no surge in hardware sales, then a title is NOT a system seller, even if it sees big sales.

I don't know if this is good or (relatively) bad. It's GTA after all, and it's being outsold by a franchise that from what I remember had uncomparably lower sales to other GTAs. SW:Battlefront is multiplatform though, right?

I'm surprised its not No1, but then with the utter confusion caused by pulling it at the last possible second, I bet there are a lot of people yet to pick it up.

It was probably the best-selling single game last week (considering that Battlefront includes all platforms), so that's quite impressive. The question is how it affects hardware sales, but I'm sure we won't be seeing anything abnormal.

I too wait for Threepio :P

Maybe you should consider that PSP has an installed base in UK of 250k units while the Star Wars game is for home consoles and multiplatform.

Yah but you've gotta consider that SW is on 3 other platforms while LCS is only on a single platform with a small fanbase in comparison to the others.

Wasn't GTA released on Friday? And SW2 is gonna account for Xbox, PS2, PC and PSP sales. :o

Can you believe that GTA: LCS outsold GTA3 for first week sales! :0

Gosh!
considering GTA3's success was based SOLELY on its legs and word of mouth, yes, I believe this entirely.

In many parts of the UK we're currently in the middle of one of Sony's disgraceful manufactured shortages, so there're still those of us who cannot purchase a PSP right now. That'll probably impact hardware figures.

Wheres the hardware numbers?
PSP probaby outsold DS by a large margin, thats why no numbers this week. Last two weeks the numbers have been provided by Nintendo people.

Didn't the gc version sell a little higher than that? and there were huge launch shortages aswell weren't there. It's a fucking shame. One of the greatest games of the generation and it doesn't sell anywhere near what it should have on either platform it seems....well we'll see still about the ps2 version.

The GC version charted at No5, although I'd imagine that sales are much higher now compared to when it was released back in March...

the game is quite good so i belive it will stay on the chart for at least a month, which is ok. god of war did it so i'm sure RE4 will do it as well, considering RE is a big brand. hell if the Outbreak games can sell over 500k in the UK im positive RE4 will do that too easily.

Was DS actually outselling PSP for those two weeks in UK?

Three weeks actaully.

NDS: 30,000
GBA SP: 15,500
PSP: 12,900

DS: 23,035
GBA SP: 10,034
PSP: 8,000

NDS: 24,492
PSP: 18,723
GBA SP: 8,799

Something is wrong with those PSP numbers. Has to be a shortage problem (or someone is bullshitting). How could sales go from 18,000 to 8,000 in one week.

Possibly, but software charts usually come out before hardware numbers, like in the case of Japan's M-Create and America's NPD

I doubt I'm the only one here who doesn't believe these numbers for a second, and I don't care who they came from. 10,000 unit drop in 7 days? Please...

sonycowboy posted this story not too long ago

"We are nearly a month into sales now and there is still large demand for the PSP. As soon as we put the product on the shelves they are being snapped up," said a spokeswoman for the retailer. Even online shop Amazon.co.uk has been forced to warn customers visiting its website that the item is in short supply.

Sony has already sold about 200,000 PSPs and has pledged to pump 1,000,000 units into the UK market in the run-up to Christmas but yesterday Lisa Morgan, Game Group's deputy chief executive, admitted that sufficient deliveries of the console are unlikely to start rolling into stores until November.

"What we are seeing is we have had the launch of PSP, which was fabulous, but unfortunately we have not seen a lot of replenishment stocks," she said. "This is a product that is very hot at the moment."

The week the DS started outselling the PSP.

Seems so. How about that GC,Xbox and PS2 hardware data?

Weekly sales would be the best way to see if Xbox is losing momentum due to 360, or pushing on like the PSone did.

Xbox Hardware Sales

2005 YtD - 183,000
2004 YtD - 304,000

Although that 2005 figure was from September end.

Xbox Software Market Share(Units)

Sep 2005 - 11.0%
Aug 2005 - 10.5%
Jul 2005 - 11.7%
Jun 2005 - 17.2%
May 2005 - 18.0%
Apr 2005 - 17.5%
Mar 2005 - 11.3%
Feb 2005 - 15.0%
Jan 2005 - 11.2%
Dec 2004 - 13.7%
Nov 2004 - 14.3%
Oct 2004 - 14.2%
Sep 2004 - 14.2%

I have no doubt that those hardware numbers are real. I tried to get a PSP a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't find one within a hundred mile radius.

If the GC outsells the PS2 then you'll likely get console numbers.

Most of the UK gamers seems to be PS2 or Xbox fans. (well duh, nintendo is doing shit in UK)

noticed that didn't you ;)

anyway the hardware numbers seem fishy cause the software charts doesn't reflect any boost in DS sales

PSP is mostly sold out. Many shops havent seen stock for ages.

Battlefront 2 only takes no.1 because here in the UK the different platform sales are always combined for the charts.
