Seemed the same to me. Quite frankly it's like nothing has changed function wise after about 3 months. Had a little pain and a little hematoma post procedure but both cleared up fast.
Withdrawal is a TERRIBLE 'contraceptive' technique, especially if you are doing round 2 or 3 (Hooray for youth!) as pre-cum can have sperm in it. Please, my GAF brothers, DO NOT rely on pulling out to avoid pregnancy, just stock up on Plan B or whatever if you must

My mate had his balls snipped, but they only put him under a local. He was wide awake when they cut the ropes.
He said he didn't really hurt, but it felt like an extreme pressure and "popping" sensation on his nuts. His wife told me he burst into tears, although he denies it.
Kinda of put me off the whole process.

I had mine done 10 years ago and it was local only. I did not feel any pain, but the sounds and sensations were a bit unsettling. I just tried to be calm and focus on my breathing. I had no issues with it and the doc was done in about 30 minutes.
The only part I was surprised by was some "nut ache" once every few months. It would last a few hours at a time. This was on and off for the first few years. Not too bad, but kind of annoying.

Fuck that. That sounds worse than when I had to get a stent removed from my kidney. I was wide awake and the only way to pull it out was to go in through my dick. I screamed like a bitch, but it only lasted less than 1 min.
I'd rather do that again then have my balls mashed for half an hour.

It was honestly no big deal. I couldn't feel anything other than some slight pulling sensations in my groin muscles. Basically every trip to the dentist I've ever had was more uncomfortable than the vasectomy.

My biggest tip: during the procedure, don’t retract your sac at all. I did that and he didn’t put enough numbing agent the first time. It felt like hot coals being placed down there.

Did the nurse have to get help holding you out of the way? She called in a couple of her nurse friends and they all were staring in awe. The doc had to ask for a larger pair of clippers, is that normal?

Ha! My nurse was a 6'4" black dude who looked like a college track and field runner. My doc was a nerdy middle-age white guy. I was of course embarrassed about putting my nuts out in a cold room, but they were so nonchalant about the whole thing it was no big deal. The doc told me at one point he did a dozen of those surgeries a week. I was just a number to them.

I shave my nuts weekly and have since I was a teenager. I keep the upstairs trimmed at 3/8", so not a big deal for me. I assume if I hadn't they would have? Not sure on that one.
So they took a dental bib and cut a whole in the center, laid it over my groin and pulled my nuts up through it. The nurse did the iodine thing (COLD!) and rubbed some anesthetic gel to numb it up for the injections. They left me there for about 10-15 minutes, then the doc did several injections on each side of the sack if I remember. I think it was like up high, in the middle, and down low on each side, so probably 6 injections? I could see him doing an injection, pushing a little bit of anesthetic, then retracting and doing another injection, rinse/repeat. I didn't feel any sort of sting form the needle. By the time they started cutting, I was completely numb like when a dentist is working on your teeth.
Uncomfortable due to the swelling, but completely normal other than that. Imagine trying to rub one out a half hour after getting kicked in the nuts - not cool but you get through it. I had a difficult recovery, but once I did heal up, everything looks and feels exactly the same as it was before. I can't even find any scaring from the incisions.

For my procedure, they injected numbing medicine up by the root of the shaft, where the nerves run down. Then they made a small incision in the scrotum, fished out the vas deferens (the tube that carries sperm) and burned it through. Some procedures cut out a portion, some I think rely just on cautery (or a combo of both).
The majority of ejaculation is fluid coming from the prostate, which is unaffected by a vasectomy. IIRC there was a little brown in there from old blood but nothing too weird. You do need to 'flush the pipes' a bit to remove any lingering swimmers as they can hang out for quite a while in the plumbing. Hopefully you get a post-vas sperm check to make sure they cut the right pipes (there are blood vessels and ligaments they might cut by mistake) and they stay sealed. It's possible for the cut ends to reattach.
Sperm still gets made but has no where to go, if everything goes well they just get reabsorbed (over and over and over) and you go on to carefree blasting
Personally a vasectomy is the BEST sterility option as it puts it in your control. Birth control pills get more and more hazardous for women as they age, condoms are for chumps (if you are in a monogamous relationship), a tubal ligation (basically a vasectomy for a women cutting the tubes from the ovaries to the uterus) is a MUCH more invasive procedure unless they are already there during a C-section delivery, and all the other birth control things like IUDs, the cup, withdrawal, or "it's my safe day" are more impactful for the woman or straight gambles at best.
Barring a call to repopulate the world, I suppose, but in that case I'll just have to forget some of my medical history
