The warning signs of an impending planetary catastrophe—of such great magnitude that the human mind has difficulty grasping it-would be the appearance of large fissures or rifts splitting open the ocean floor, a rise in the elevation of the seabed, and the massive venting of methane and other gases into the surrounding water.

Such occurrences can lead to the rupture of the methane bubble containment—it can then permit the methane to breach the subterranean depths and undergo an explosive decompression as it catapults into the Gulf waters. [6]

All three warning signs are documented to be occurring in the Gulf.
If the methane bubble—a bubble that could be as big as 20 miles wide—erupts with titanic force from the seabed into the Gulf, every ship, drilling rig and structure within the region of the bubble will immediately sink. All the workers, engineers, Coast Guard personnel and marine biologists participating in the salvage operation will die instantly.

Next, the ocean bottom will collapse, instantaneously displacing up to a trillion cubic feet of water or more and creating a towering supersonic tsunami annihilating everything along the coast and well inland. Like a thermonuclear blast, a high pressure atmospheric wave could precede the tidal wave flattening everything in its path before the water arrives.

When the roaring tsunami does arrive it will scrub away all that is left.
I've had a really good evening - more on that later - but this news was enough to kill my buzz. Time for a walk.

Well at least your balloon bursts again.

I almost said: quick, change the channel!

I can't think of any good thing to say other than they're fucked. :/
thanx BP.

Lets hope it is all bull shit and alarmist propaganda. I have never even heard this theory as the cause of previous mass extinctions, has anyone else? I thought the prevailing theory was a massive meteorite . I live in Destin Florida so you can all laugh at me if I am wrong, because I will be one of the first to go.

That is seriously scary as hell. I don't even want to read the whole article because I'm afraid I won't get any sleep.

It is pretty depressing, only thing that makes me feel better is that this is a theory built on top of a few other theories ... so its hardly fact.

Depressed regardless, how could you not?

Reading the article helps. It comes off as crazy internet news.

Not that we're all not going to die or anything..

Should probably get working on that moon base...

Seriously folks, this is ONE persons THEORY of the worst case possible. We may as well freak out if all of the cows in the world farted at one time and lightning struck.

The author is a total dick: "Terrence Aym is proud to announce that his article, "Doomsday: How BP Gulf disaster may have triggered a 'world-killing' event" is being featured on the website, "Trends and Forecasts," that is a Gerald Celente channel." :lol

That and his bio lists him as a former financial analyst with no background in science...

Damn this will be one bad fucking ass way to go.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one thinking this.

When you get to heaven remind the rest of the angels who died of natural causes or something..."I died in the,FUCKING A-P-O-C-A-L-Y-P-S-E!"

Not only has BP destroyed an ecosystem and the lives of so many, but now they threaten to have actually done permanent irreversible damage to the world and literally fuck everything up. I cant even form words to describe my position right now. Fucking make the people responsible for this shit suffer and disband this retarded company.

edit: may have freaked out over nothing :lol

Phew, good thing I'm nowhere near the region!

...ok, I'll just move the hell away from the coast...

Like a thermonuclear blast, a high pressure atmospheric wave could precede the tidal wave flattening everything in its path before the water arrives.

...um...

When the roaring tsunami does arrive it will scrub away all that is left.

...fuck.

NO HE LINKED TO OTHER SCIENTISTS WE ARE GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People! Please. You may as well take someone who works for Goldman Sachs word on why we don't need financial regulation reform. This guy is one person. Do some more research before you get all caught in a tizzy of paranoia.
