Were Halle Berry's scenes in X-Men: DoFP left on the editing room floor?

First it was Anna Paquin's Rogue, now Halle Berry's Storm has reportedly found her screen time in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" curtailed.

New York Daily News reports that almost all of Halle Berry's scenes have been trimmed from the movie. Their source says Berry has been "cut out of every scene but one in post-production".

Berry learned of her pregnancy just as shooting began which saw her role being limited in some ways. Berry previously revealed that Storm won't be doing much fighting or flying in the film, but we will learn something shocking about her character.

Singer has previously indicated that a good amount of cut footage will arrive on the DVD and Blu-ray versions of the film. With more than twenty-six main characters to service, that's not a surprise.

She was a terrible Storm though the writing for her character was such that any actress would have produced a shitty performance. Also, whats up with 26 main characters? That doesn't sound right.

The movie should have been made in 2 parts...If movies like Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 + 2 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 + 2 can happen, then a film that has 26 main characters can be a 2 part movie

Always thought Halle Berry was a terrible Storm. I think Angela Bassett would have done the role more justice.

If there's one superhero movie series that needs a reboot, this is it.

Just start over with Professor X + the first five and introduce the rest of the team in sequels.

This movie will suck even if it is 3 his that's on average 7 min of screen time per character.

Its gonna be a mess like x3

Already kind of feel like that was the intention with the sequel

Here's the thing. They kind of did. They should have kept Singer as consultant.

The movie is going to be a clusterfuck anyway. Basically, the Wolverine & friends show.

Less Storm is going to make it slightly better.

Having a lot of characters doesn't mean they're all main characters.

I think maybe Hollywood should branch out to more black actresses for dramatic roles. I just realized a little while ago that Bassett played both Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz in different films.

I think by the end of this movie, that is exactly what will happen. A soft reboot with young Charles/Magneto, Hugh Jackman, and reset everybody else.

Pretty sure this was confirmed as false by several other publications. I'm just wondering when we're going to get a new trailer. The first one was absolutely horrible and seemed rushed out the door. The movie is out in two months and that's the only thing we've seen of it.

After seeing her in American Horror Story I am inclined to agree.

Her Storm is pretty terrible, so I'd be ok with her not getting a lot of screen time. I can't remember Storm having a big role in DoFP. Speaking of storyline...This makes me wonder -- why pick a storyline from the comics now? I mean, I love DoFP, but will this mean they will someday pick up Fatal Attractions, or better yet -- Age of Apocalypse?

I certainly wouldn't mind, she's terrible in these.

I'm really worried about this movie. I really like X-Men and I loved X-Men 2 at the time, but I can hardly watch them anymore. First Class was awesome but I'm really worried about Singer taking over again (which I never thought I'd say after seeing X3 at midnight :lol).

X2 was loosely based on a comic storyline. They changed things around, like Stryker going from a reverend to a general.

Just did some reading on him and you're absolutely correct. I hadn't heard of him before the movies however.

Hrm. Seems he was in Operation: Zero Tolerance too -- and I read that entire arc. Maybe he just slipped my mind.

Didn't Singer say that the 2016 film is Age of Apocalypse?

A new trailer was rated last week so it's probably coming either this week or the next.

Was Angela Bassett in the running for the role originally?

If she wasn't, she should have been first choice, she would have been excellent.

Then why bother having her in the film? She was garbage every other time and would not have been missed

It takes special effort to fuck up a character like Storm the way Singer managed to pull off. Her and Cyclops. I can't with him

It works if you deadpan the punchline as intended. Problem was that neither the actress nor the director caught that.

JW: Okay, which was also mine, and that's the interesting thing. Everybody remembers that as the worst line ever written, but the thing about that is, it was supposed to be delivered as completely offhand. [Adopts casual, bored tone.] "You know what happens when a toad gets hit by lightning?"

Then, after he gets electrocuted, "Ahhh, pretty much the same thing that happens to anything else." But Halle Berry said it like she was Desdemona. [Strident, ringing voice.] "The same thing that happens to everything eeelse!" That's the thing that makes you go crazy. At least "You're a dick" got delivered right. The worst thing about these things is that, when the actors say it wrong, it makes the writer look stupid.

How you interpret his explanation (excuse or valid defense) will depend on if you like Joss Whedon's tone of writing.

It's a bad line and as bad as Halle Berry is, blaming other people for a line falling flat is so embarrassing for a writer.
