Were Halle Berry's scenes in X-Men: DoFP left on the editing room floor?

She's absolutely atrocious in that role. It's obvious that she doesn't give a fuck and is there for a paycheck. She should have been replaced immediately following the first film with someone like Angela Basset.

I saw a deleted scene from the first X-Men where Storm was talking to somebody, but was using some weird accent. It was weird.

On-topic: I agree with the Angela Bassett suggestion, she was great in ER.

Guys, anyone would have sucked as Storm. She's just a badly written character with next to no screen time in these things. No need to put it on Halle.

X2 was loosely based on a comic storyline. They changed things around, like Stryker going from a reverend to a general.

X2 was based on a tossed storyline for an annual. Tossed with good reason the villain wasn't enough to pose a real threat to the team. They later did some line with zero tolerance i think

Certainly no one was going to make that lightning line suck any less.

What is going on with this movie?

- Spiderman comes out roughly around the same time as X-Men, and yet we have seen legit no promo other than those TERRIBLE magazine covers. We have on trailer with ZERO action in it.

- This movie's budget is *250 MILLION* which is way higher than any other X-Men movie thus far. Where is all of this money going?

- Bryan Singer is becoming weird. He's been bringing gay porn stars to tour around set, and PA's complain he's becoming difficult to work with.

- And now this whole storm debacle.

I think by the end of this movie, that is exactly what will happen. A soft reboot with young Charles/Magneto, Hugh Jackman, and reset everybody else.

They already "did" the reboot thing with First Class. In regards to a full on reboot that recasts everyone for a brand new Xmen, that won't happen till Hugh Jackman feels he wants out of the franchise and it sounds like hes got at least one more film in him following DoFP

Well yeah, isn't he doing Apocalypse?

To be fair this movie looks to be MUCH more spoileable than The Amazing "we already saw 2/3 of the movie" Spider-Man 2 =P

I think Singer said that Apocalypse will feature younger versions of the Present/Future X-Men and the First Class team. It might be pointless to recall the Future team.

I want a sequel to X2/X3/The Wolverine though.

what the fuck?

I don't get all the hate for Halle Berry as Storm. I thought she did fine with what was given to her. There really wasn't much room for other characters while all the focus kept getting put on Wolverine.

I also wish that this movie would be split up into 2 parts or be 3 hours long considering how many characters are supposedly in it.

You got it...sort of.

Regardless of whether they'll need to recast or Jackman will come around when 20th Century Fox gives him however much money he wants, someone on Twitter was curious enough to ask James Mangold when we might see the sequel and oddly enough, Mangold responded on his Twitter feed, a response you can see below:

@R__E__D_R__U__M @20centuryfox @ShuDonner We are figuring it all out. At the moment, I'm shooting The next #Wolverine after #XmenApocalypse.

— Mangold (@mang0ld) March 15, 2014

So there you have it. Since they haven't even started filming "Apocalypse" yet and probably won't start until early next year, we probably won't be seeing another solo Wolverine movie until 2017 or later. But will it star Hugh Jackman in the title role or will a new actor be brought in to play Logan? Only time will tell...

I didnt particularly like Halle Berry Storm but its still disappointing along with the Rogue thing. But should I be surprised that Singer cant make a true "X-Men" movie?

It's a bad line and as bad as Halle Berry is, blaming other people for a line falling flat is so embarrassing for a writer.

It may not be the most professional thing in the world, but it's not like he's wrong. When you deliver a joke line in a stone cold serious tone, of course it'll sound like shit. Actors fucking up the intended line deliveries isn't a new phenomenon.

I hope they go the Old Man Logan route for Wolverine 3. I mean, maybe not exactly that story, but an Unforgiven-style story for Wolverine would be a good way to cap off Jackman's run on the character.

Agreed on both counts. The character has been written awfully in all of the movies, so.... Nothing Halle did was going to change that. But she is still a bad Storm. Even if there was good material to work with, Im not sure she would have done well with it.

Good for Jackman. I'm just wondering if we'll ever get a complete and awesome movie with the X1/2 cast though.

I'm still wondering what the point of Pyro being casted/put in X2 (and X3, but albit very small part there) was. Just some character that made logical sense powerwise for an action set-piece, really?

a lot of Singer's character choices make no sense.

Like why does he keep pushing Toad on people?

So they could have a proper antagonist for Iceman.

There was this terrific clash of hot air and cold air and X3 turned philosophical and shit.

"You should have left."
"You should have stayed."

Then Iceman got Ice Armor. That one's for the nerds.

She was a terrible Storm though the writing for her character was such that any actress would have produced a shitty performance. Also, whats up with 26 main characters? That doesn't sound right.

This.

Halle Berry is an undeniably terrific actress, so it's always sucked that she got the primary backlash for her quiet, overly demure portrayal of Storm. The problem with the movies is that that's how Storm's written to be lately. ANY actress would have gotten backlash for the same reason.

Halle Berry is a huge name and a better actress that pretty much the majority of the cast that made the film, so if her scenes did get cut, it was likely a budget/story-contraints thing. Not a "LOL Halle Berry's a shit actress" thing.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
I will NEVER forgive that wooden plank Halle Berry, and that hack Bryan Singer for butchering Storm, my favorite Marvel character and a comic book ICON.

It pissed me off in the first movie she had an accent and the second she dropped it. Second movie MUST be from an alternate timeline -_-

Yeah, some thing is off this movie.

I'm still excited though.

It takes special effort to fuck up a character like Storm the way Singer managed to pull off. Her and Cyclops. I can't with him

Yep. Why his universe falls short for me. Animated series in all its bad voice acting and writing is best characterization of the team still.

This is something that I've been wondering...it seems like MOST of the recent canon portrayals of Storm have been of her as extremely demure. Why is that?

Well, part of it is that one of Toad's running quirks in Whedon's script was that he would keep throwing out toad trivia. "Do you know that toads can hibernate for decades underground?" and stuff like that. So Storm's line when she zaps him is supposed to be a payoff related to him doing that the whole film. His toad trivia was cut from the film but nobody bothered to change Storm's line, and on top of that it was delivered wrong, so it comes off as borderline nonsensical.

There's nothing embarrassing about Whedon explaining why careless rewriting and thoughtless delivery resulted in the appearance of a nonsense line in a script he's credited on. None of the shortcomings of the line in the final film are his fault.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.
How about we cancel the movie completely and put the $250 million dollar budget into more seasons of Wolverine and the X-Men :p

On a serious note though, I really hope this movie doesn't turn out terrible.
