Aliens and Alien kept it pretty creepy. For a low-budget 80's alien...the one in "The Being" was pretty creepy and violent.

this movie is freaky as fuck. Christopher Walken doesn't know what is real and what is fake. the stuff with the alien peeking around the door still freaks me out. doesn't matter if it's a cheesy looking alien.

at one point he re-experiences the encounter and some crazy thing flies into his room above his bed and he just starts laughing uncontrollably. later the aliens abduct him and it's.... it's terrifying.

I can recommend the book as well, although it does go a bit bananas towards the end.
