If playing with a friend, which one do you think offers the better experience. Gears or Galo?

I think Gears has the better cutscenes but you need a friend with an attention span.
The gameplay is pretty repetitive too after an hour or two.

Halo has some fun levels where you drive and turret together but the goofy ass nerf gun weapons, characters and enemies don't do it for me. Especially the stupid midgets with the silly voices "run awayyyy run awayyyy"

Halo but Gears is close. Halo co-op actually helped you more than Gears, plus the vehicles. With Gears, it always felt like the AI was still in control.

Gears is good but nothing will ever come close to playing Halo 3 coop legendary with my friend around launch time. One of my fondest gaming memories forever.

Halo always felt kinda boring to me, Gears is more my jam.

Halo has more gameplay options. Lots of parts you are presented with a playground scenario where it's up to you how to tackle the level or section. Ie lots of different weapon types or vehicles or later abilities etc.

Gears is great though because it's more gritty and chainsaw etc but as other said can get repetitive. It's basically pop up and shoot from cover. Although in co-op you can lay a suppressing fire while the other flanks.

If you want real enemies in halo then change the difficulty plus the play rules, there's a lot of options in halo. Gears is basically a modern shmup with nicer cutscenes.

Halo is way Wayyyyy better both as a single player and definitely as a coop op multi player game.

Replayed the campaign a lot of times with either my cousins or friends. Also many many after school hours doing split screen with friends in Halo 1 and 2.

Only one who could rival Halo 2 in their genre is Timesplitters 3 which also got a great campaign and multiplayer split screen.

Let me tell you something, it sure isn't Killzone

Halo provides way more freedom than Gears of War in how you and your co-op partner tackle stages. Way more interesting.

Playing Halo CE all night with my best friend in November of 2001 with the gigantic Duke controllers is on my Mt Rushmore of gaming experiences. It was the first time (and probably last time) I felt a leap in tech on par with playing Mario 64 for the first time.

That og Halo trilogy really was something special.

Overall Halo.
There's just more freedom in how to approach encounters due to the higher mobility, more varied weapons and vehicles.

Gears is a ton of fun too, but as a cover shooter it's a lot of hiding behind cover with your friends and shooting at enemies

Gears, easily. For me, anyway. Something about hiding behind cover and the emphasis on positioning of you and your teammates makes the games super satisfying in co-op.

Not that Halo isn't also a good co-op experience.

While I think they both show their age, Gears has aged worse and the sections that splits you up from your co-op partner always felt forced. I'd go with Halo's co-op.

Gears for me easily. I respect Halo's design more than I actually like playing it, too floaty for me.

Halo is more fun for the moment to moment gameplay. Gears is a more memorable experience because the coop characters are actually real and are a central component to the story.

Fuck gears and it's repopulization and modernization of the walkie talkie genre. Worst fucking thing in modern games. It even bleed into Halo 3 a year later with it's gigagay cortona ptsd walkie talkie moments.

Go play Halo 1 & 2

I voted for Gears, although I enjoy Halo more. Gears campaigns are designed with a heavy emphasis on co-op play, so I'll give it the nod in co-op mode.

Gears feels a lot more linear and corridor-esque (not terrible mind you)

I prefer Halo's sandbox campaigns, campaign on heroic/legendary is always a blast

I just like gears better so that's my pick. By the time I even had the option to play halo past the first one I was burnt out.
