What’s the longest you’ve ever slept uninterrupted?

I’ve been getting shit sleep lately and I started thinking about what’s the best and longest sleep I’ve ever had.

Back when I was like 18ish, I hung out with a friend and ended up crashing at his place that night at around midnight or so. Next day I woke up and he wasn’t there and I walked around his house looking for him, he comes in the door as I’m looking and was like damn man you slept a long time, I went out to get something to eat. I looked at the clock and it was 4:30 pm, so somehow I slept for like 16 hours.

Other than times where I’ve been really sick I’ve never slept that long in my life I didn’t even think it was possible. I couldn’t sleep that long now if I wanted to.

When I was younger? Probably only 10 hours or so. Nowadays I only sleep for about 5-6 hours a night.

Think it was around 14 hours? It was in summer break during High School. Now I'm lucky to get 7 or 8 due to my sleeping circumstances.

Probably around 12 hours when I was studying and working at the same time. I like having a good night's sleep so even now when I'm older I rarely go below 6-7 hours.

I once went to sleep on a Monday night with a fever soar throat, expecting to go to the doctor in the morning.. to be woken up on a Wednesday afternoon by my roommate pounding on my door saying my Mom was there wondering where I was as my doctor had called her since I missed an appointment and she was my emergency contact and my phone had long since died.

I spent that 36+ hours in bed sleeping and hallucinating. By the time I got to the doctor I still had a 104 degree F fever, and was severely dehydrated. Was immediately sent to the hospital. I'd long since sweated all liquid out of my body and nearly died.

Was some crazy aggressive strain of strep throat,I was deathly ill for a month. Never quite been the same since.

Safe to assume brain damage eh?

The better part of 12-15 hours after a massive 2 day drug fuelled weekend bender back in the college party/rave days.

^ accurate depiction of my under the influence of any narcotic and there being even a whiff of dance music around

Honestly would have slept for longer but for my friends/flatmates coming in to wake me up in order to drag me down to the local for a pint to recount the weekends shenanigans

Yes, definitely at least some. Also heart damage (I was diagnosed with rheumatic fever.) Potentially is responsible for an unknown auto-immune disorder I've been suffering from ever since as well (over-active immune system, attacks my organs.)

Having said all that.. I've continued to work as a software engineer, I workout and am fit and all that.. but I suffer from a bunch of shit.

I once fell asleep for almost 48 hours at a friend’s house. No drugs, nothing of the sort, also knew him for years (still do.) I woke up two days later and he asked me if everything was alright. I said “What?! I’ve been asleep TWO DAYS? Why didn’t you wake me?” To which he gave some half-assed answer. His parents were convinced for a while I was on opioids or something. I still don’t know why it happened

Last Friday after so much alcohol I went to bed at 3AM, woke up at 6AM, accidentally pee'd on a plug socket knocking the electric out but didn't notice until 10AM. Woke up and bought more electric thinking it had run out, then fell back asleep until 9PM.

Alcohol is a hell of a drug.

I remember sleeping through to 3pm one time which I thought was impressive. I was probably up late though so I’ll just guess 12 hours.

I think it was probably around 14-16 hours while I had Mono. When I was a teenager I would routinely do 11 hours straight in the summer.

Maybe 12 or 13 after coming back from deployment. In modern times 8 is a long night for me

Maybe 12.

But if you include getting up to take a piss or drink and just going back to bed because it's a holiday and you don't give a shit, there were a couple times I slept probably 23.5 hours out of 24.

If I remember correctly it was about a day and half, that was after couple of days drinking and partying and no eating.

Longest is probably 18-20 hours. I came home from Hultsfredsfestivalen, Swedens biggest music festival at the time (I think this was in 2001), and had been up and partying and rocking to concerts for probably 36 hours straight. When I came home I took a shower and just passed out, sleeping for almost a day straight. When I woke up I felt like a million bucks.

About 36 hours.

When I was a teenager my friends and I decided one summer to see who could stay awake the longest.

We stayed over at a different persons house each night so no one's parents would interfere. If any of us fell asleep, everyone would punch that person in the balls once and only if they didn't wake up were they out

We made it to the 5th day before our parents realised what was happening and stopped our idiocy. My mother just laughed, and I, delirious and incoherent as I was, just took it on the chin and went to bed, crashing into blissful unconsciousness.

Only to awake as normal the next morning, about the same time I always woke up, totally refreshed as if nothing had happened. Judging by the time I'd slept about 12 hours.

Well, I thought, that was basically consequence free, we should have another go with a better plan on how to keep it quiet.

Then when I got downstairs for breakfast my brother expressed surprise that I apparently hadn't given myself brain damage, and shouted to my mother that she didn't need to call a doctor out.

Basically I'd just slept through an entire day, totally unresponsive to anyones careful attempts to wake me when they'd checked I was still breathing. We did not try it again.

Good times.

14 hours I think, when I was under the effect of clonazepam.
I never sleep more than 7 hours normally.

12-14 hours after some insane rave parties with afterparties when I was young and healthy. Now I usually sleep 8 hours every day including weekend.
