What are folks doing for storage solutions for PS5?

I'm nearly running out of space on my stock PS5. Don't think I've had it a month.

What are folks doing to extend storage?

I hooked up a 6TB external hard drive that I had on hand but wasn't using anymore. I've got PS4 games installed on it, and also use it as storage for PS5 games that I don't want to have to redownload. Transferring games back and forth is no big deal.

Maybe if the 4TB M.2 drives get cheap enough I will grab one, but it's not worth the spend at this point.

4tb Firecuda M.2. Glad the Pro is coming with 2tb as my 4tb only has 700Gb left. All digital for me.

I only keep around 15-20 games at a time and delete ones I've stopped playing.

Edit: I'm at 22 games now so will need to purge some soon.

Deleting games I'm not playing. I don't need my entire library installed at all times, so I've really never had an issue with the standard 825GB.

If you have fiber just keep the games you are currently playing on your drive. I only have a 1gb connection (they go up to 5 here) and I download a game in 10 minutes or less if I don't have it.

Otherwise your only choice is install replace the stock one.

I have an old usb hdd that makes backing up games and copying them in a good enough solution.

When you have things like tekken and gt that you always want ready to play though, that stock ssd gets tight.

So I have a 1tb m.2 in there. But it causes trouble sometimes. GT won't work off of it. I thought it was just that game and a cut and dry symptom, but the other night I found forbidden west will play but chokes hard. The snags and load times are far far more dramatic than would be caused by a drive coming up a little shy on the performance. So that game just doesn't like the drive for some reason. And now I'm going to have to install games on the stock drive and play them, then move them to the m.2 and test them. It's a nextorage drive.

So mostly good but mixedd results on the m.2 upgrade. The usb hdd has been really nice, though. As long as you have a little patience to copy games back and forth. And ps4 games can play straight off it so that saves a bunch of space.

2TB M.2 SSD installed, plus a portable 4TB hard drive via rear USB for PS4 games and archiving PS5 games if I get desperate.

You don't need to have every game you ever played on the SSD. Delete them when you're done, and re-download them when you want to play them again. Get a external drive for PS4 titles and you're good.

It's not complicated OP, there's extra internal storage available for a reason. Spend a few bucks and get a couple more TB of storage and problem solved.

I installed a 1TB expansion drive for PS5 games and an external 1TB SSD for PS4 games which helped but honestly probably just need to delete more games that I rarely play.

Got a 1TB NVME SSD installed and a 5TB external HD. The Pro will come with 2TB of internal memory, so I wont need to upgrade any futher for now. I have plenty of games installed at once to get that Netflix of gaming library fix, but I'll be getting a 4TB NVME next gen for the PS6.

I got the WD Black 1TB on sale for like $90. It'll move over to the Pro in a couple weeks since while I don't need 3TB I also don't have another need for it.

Thanks everyone. I'll be getting an internal expansion ssd.
There is a DF video from the early days of PS5 SSD support, where they showed that even the slowest PCIe4 SSD they could find still works quite fine and the difference to the fastest were hardly noticable.
So if you need to care for money, I would rather take a larger slow one than paying premium for the fastest one you can find. And only few of todays SSDs are as slow as the one in the video

Buying a PS5 Pro, lmao.

But honestly? I usually only play a couple games at the same time so the storage i have on my current unit is okay. Not amazing but it works.

I store my PS5 in my garage. I don't know when i'll need it again. Maybe when I die, and my grandkids inherit the house - they clean the garage and find said PS5. And maybe because they're curious about what games I used to play they boot it up only to find the only game on the console is Concord.

2 TB internal plus my 2TB SSD I'm taking out of my PS5 Base. Then 1 TB Samsung external and another 1TB WD External.

I think I'm good at 6TB at storage hoarding. And that's not even the storage from my Series X.

I tossed a 1 TB SSD in my OG PS5 to supplement the 825 GB it came with and it's been more than enough. I just uninstall what I'm no longer playing. The 1 TB in the slim has been fine as is but I'll probably get an SSD for it if the cyber Monday sales are good.

I have a 1tb internal ssd for ps5 games and an external 512gb ssd for ps4 games

Storage-wise I'm doing good. Sometimes i need to delete a cod but thats fine since im usually only playing whats current.
