Gloomy Sunday - bjork
You've Been Flirting Again (the Telegram version) - bjork
Hyper-Ballad Brodsky Quartet remix - bjork
Unloveable - the Smiths

The best is a track that's on a bjork bootleg I have... I don't know the track's name, because it's just called "bonus track." I'd link it if it was legal...

How to dissappear completely - Radiohead

Queen of Denmark
Edward Scissorhands Soundtrack - Danny Elfman

My vote for the best musical piece ever comes from one of the variations on the main theme (Ice Dance/Grand Finale).

Mozart piano concerto 14 ... E minor iirc... second movement. Hauntingly beautiful is the perfect way to describe it. How hauntingly beautiful depends on the conductor.

Exactly what I thought of coming into this thread. Nothing more hauntingly beautiful than that really.

Anything by Nick Drake. That man had such an otherworldy, ethereal voice.

Beethoven's 7th Symphony is also a personal fave.

This thread is worthless (well almost) without an honorable mention for Godspeed ! You Black Emperor, and more specifically their entire debut full album called "f#a#oo" (the oo is actually an eternity symbol).

Also : "Rhine & Courtesan" by Rachel's..

KingGondo

Frederic Chopin: Raindrop Prelude (but only if played slowly and darkly)

Actually, I recommend watching the segment "Crows" from 'Akira Kurosawa's Dreams' to make it much more memorable.

Agnus Dei. The version in Homeworld is nice. Nothing beats the ominous and depressing version in Alien 3 though.

If you like that you should try Allegri's Miserere Mei, Deus. There's a high note in that, that will totally melt you.
