This is the rock album of William Street repertoire, and it's okay. It mainly composed of Indie rock bands like The Good, The bad and the Queen(awesome acoustic peice) and The Rapture. However it doesn't feel as cohesive as the Danger Mouse album, though still highly enjoyable.

Also would it kill you guys to post a little recap of what these fucking albums are about? You don't have to type a paragraph, but at least reveal the genre. Most of the reason why the music threads here tend to be great( The album of the year threads are consistent my favorite on GAF) is becuase it's a great way to learn about new music. Seeing 5 posts in a row just of album art is depressing.

Beirut - The Flying Club Cup
Caribou - Andorra
Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Richard Hawley - Lady's Bridge
Serj Tankian - Elect the Dead
The Weakerthans - Reunion Tour

On my list: Sigur Ros

Halfway to Hazard

Soilwork - Sworn to a Great Divide

Chromeo - Fancy Footwork. One of the smoothest, funkiest, coolest albums I've heard in years. Mad props to these two guys.

Lots n' Lots of Red Bull On The Move

and as for regular stuff...pretty much some old crap, some newly discovered (personally) Nitin Sawhney, and Simion Mobile Disco's new(ish) album.

I'm sure many of us are unfamiliar with artists that other people swear by... and I realize many of you have terrible taste in music but I'm sure there are at least a couple of amazing albums being posted in these threads that I'm missing.

Having said that, I really think more people should add a one-liner about the sound/style of the album they're posting.
I super-agree, I don't have much music and would like to find some neat stuff in here. Just saying what type of music it is and maybe how highly you reccomend it would be really helpful. :)

Puscifer - V is for Vagina

Fantastic album, it hit a nerve with me and my life-situation I'm in right now. Highly recommended!

Alter Bridge-Blackbird
Seether-Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces
and soon I want to pick up the new(ish) Submersed cd.

UGK - Super Tight...., Ridin' Dirty, and Too Hard to Swallow
LSD March - Empty Rubious Red and Suddenly, Like Flames
Jay-Z - American Gangster
Burial - Untrue

^ was listening to a Gui Boratto guest mix a minute ago.

chromophobia is an excellent album. and 'the trentemoller chronicles' is off the hook. trentemoller's 'the last resort' is an awesome album, but a bit too mellow, chronicles works as a dance album.

I take back everything I said about this being, a step down from Diary. I've listened to it a bunch more, and, its surpasses Diary of Alicia Keys, by a good green mile. You can tell that she worked with Stevie Wonder(A couple of the songs, scream him), and whether or not you want to use that as a slight against her, thats fine, but, no denying that she has a voice. This album is sooo fucking good, and easily one of the better R&B albums, in years...

Kahimi Karie (discovering her discography)

This EP leaves me feeling hopeful for their new album in February. I wasn't too crazy about it at first listen, but I'm really digging it now. It helps that they recorded in Montreal and had help from members of GY!BE and the old drummer for Arcade Fire. Sounding good. These guys have done no wrong so far, and I'm sensing a hat-trick with the new record next year.

Following advice and quoting myself...

I´ll recommed try listening to some Kahimi Karie

She has a childish voice and almost always sings whispering, either in japanese, french or english.

From what i´ve been listening is amazing the range of music genres she covers, from 60-70s psychodelyc pop rock ("do you know the time? metaphors";"good morning world") to some mix of folk-rock with philharmonikers ("elastic girl") to poppy songs with bossa nova touches ("mike always diary", "take it easy my brother charlie") to kinda britpop/frenchie touches ("le roi soleil") or ambient moody experimental atmospheres like those from Radiohead or Björk (Kahimi´s latest album) or early 80s electronic sounds ("the simphonies of beethoven").

Britney Spears - Blackout

Same here; my day one favorite on the album, Get Naked (I Got a Plan), is still my most-played, but I've been listening to Perfect Lover a heck of a lot more lately than I did in the first couple of weeks. I've loved it all along, but it's been growing on me even more.

Album of the decade, as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to see the release of Piece of Me give the album some actual legs sales-wise. We'll see...

Anyway, beyond that:

Treat Me Right and Everything But Mine in particular. Great to hear BSB record a handful of solid, safe, hooktastic dance songs again. Nothing that rivals the epic Max Martin productions of old, but still, a great change in pace from the relative bore that was 2005's Never Gone. Even the mid-tempo AC rock-tinged songs actually have strong melodies and better vocals this time around to reduce the yawn-factor. Major props to Howie D. for FINALLY shining in a lead vocal (Trouble Is).

Pat is great, but DJ Paul and Juicy J. are not quite up to par this time around...for the most part, the beats are pretty weak and their usual strong melodic touch is rather boring here. Still, this and the most recent Crunchy Black record (From Me to U) are the two definite shining moments in this recent lull in quality for HCP.

Dubstep

Burial - Untrue
MRK1 - Copyright Laws

Electronica
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works

DnB
Drum and Bass Arena presents DJ Hype
High Contrast - High Society
Nu:Tone - Back of Beyond

I'm hoping they're saving the good production for Last 2 Walk.
