Investing a lot of time back into Switchfoot (Legend of Chin, New Way To Be Human, Learning To Breathe, The Beautiful Letdown) getting myself phsyched up for their new summer release.

Other than that, more of the same: all of Caedmon's Call's albums (Caedmon's Call, 40 Acres, Long Line of Leavers, Back Home, Share the Well), Jimmy Eat World (Clarity, Bleed American, Futures), Garden State Soundtrack as well as a new recommendation, Ruby Horse (Goodbye To All That).

I also never forget to spend a little quality time with Jars of Clay (Jars of Clay, Much Afraid*, If I Left the Zoo, The Eleventh Hour, Who We Are Instead)

*One of the greatest, underrated albums of all time in retrospect.

I've been meaning to pick up the Ring Around the World DVD for quite some time, is it worth it? I've also been meaning to pick up Fuzzy Logic but that's neither here nor there.
Um, well, the band had a different director produce a video for each song on the album, including the b-sides on the second disc. The thing about the DVD was, at the time, it was actually an incredibly innovative idea. Apparently they were the first band to simultaneously release a DVD in 5.1 surround and an album or something like that, plus include a video for what's like 20 or so songs. The thing also includes remixes of all the tracks, although the only one I can remember is Kid 606's (because I personally like Kid 606). I think the music video shot for "Shoot Doris Day" is quite incredible, but some of the videos are kind of cheap or stupid. I don't believe any of them feature the band, either.

If you like Rings Around the World, I'd get it. If you're not familiar with SFA's output, though, or aren't exactly won over by them, I'd actually wait for that Songbook DVD. It's got music videos for 21 of their songs, from 1995 onward, plus an on-the-road documentary of last year's US tour. I'm actually imagining the documentary will be quite humorous as they're five constantly-high Welsh guys, and I don't think they mesh well with America.

I think that'd be anyone here's best bet if they wanted to check the band out. It'd give a good idea of what musical style the band was at at each point of their career, plus it'd give you something fun to look at. And chances are, out of 21 singles, you'd find a few really great songs.

Here's a good idea of what you should expect to see: http://www.finalcut-edit.com/david_webb/SFA.mpg

I second that recommendation, although I'm not quite AS fond of KoC as I am of Erlend's solo work.

Those guys do electronic music that's a bit weird. They made some songs of the DC JSR OST although they were not present on any official OST. I had to import the disc which arrived to me yesterday. Weird but cool. You need to hear it more than once to appreciate it.

Great Stuff...They made the OST of Furi Kuri.

The other one I am hearing is the GT4 OST.

nitewulf: go for pulp's 'different class' next. a lot of people say it's their best album, and it's got amazing lyrics and perfect songs, and the album has a really cool concept to it.

Different Class is fantastic, but This is Hardcore is even better in my opinion. Good god I love that album, one of the best albums of the 90s easily.

Glad you like the recommendation, nitewulf! I would agree that This Is Hardcore is ever-so-slightly better than Different Class, but the rankings are #1 and #1a.

I'm still undecided as to what I think about their final album, We Love Life.

I've always felt His'n'Hers was their best of the past 4 albums.

Great album. Jim James played on Austin City Limits (PBS) the other night with Bright Eyes, they did Golden and it was good stuff. Then he did backup vocals and guitar work during some Bright Eyes songs (meh).

Sounds like a pretty neat show.

This little live EP is great. Even though it's only around 25 minutes, I can play it again and again. Each song is just so full of soul and heart (and some catchy whimsical choruses) that it's impossible not to be impressed. Actually, I've already listened to this album more than It Still Moves. I like that album a lot as well, but it's just too long for me to sit down and listen to all the way through sometimes. Acoustic Citsuoca is just perfect.
