I just finished Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.

It has some good aspects (orb/sub-weapon combos, music, voice acting, graphics) but the repetative rooms bring the whole game down. I had to keep checking my map every 5 seconds to make sure I was going in the right direction because there are only about 6-10 different types of rooms in each level and they reuse them over and over. The map was also a pain in the ass to use. It required all kinds of rotating and zooming and shit. WTF ever happened to just a regular freaking map? The level design is terrible. Most of the maps are symmetric. Talk about lazy. For a Castlevania game this is inexcusable.

Not only that but it isn't immediately obvious what you should do or where you should go a lot of them time. I hate games like that. I don't expect them to hold my hand but I don't want to have to be Sherlock Holmes either. Lots of times you'd have to jump up to a ledge that was off screen or walk to a certain spot in a room to make the camera move so that you could see a door that wasn't visible beforehand and stuff like that. I had about 60-70% of the castle explored before I fought my first boss.

Plus the game is incredibly short (it took me about 4 hours my first time through) and easy

I honestly liked Castlevania 64 a heck of a lot more than LOI when I played it back in the day.
