What beard trimmer do you use? Is it good?

My Phillips Norelco QT4050 trimmer is ass. In more ways than one. Hair gets stuck in the blade contraption, hair flies all over the sink and into other toiletries, and the hair compartment broke after a few weeks of usage.

Never going by Amazon reviews again.

Its time for an upgrade. What do you use and are you happy with it?

I don't think anyone's ever been happy with theirs. They just haven't perfected beard trimmer technology yet

I have that exact same trimmer as you, I can confirm it's ass and hair gets all over the bathroom. In fact, the battery is dead and it won't even power on anymore even when plugged in. It's less than 6 months old. Currently growing out my beard for the winter in the meantime. So, I'm keeping an eye out for a good beard trimmer for later. They ALL seem to die in under a year for me.

I use a Wahl trimmer. It sucks. Tiny head which doesn't covers lot of beard, have to go over everything many times, and it sometimes pulls hair. Stay away from drugstore/clip on guard trimmers.

I used to have a Remington trimmer like this:

It was awesome. Went through my beard like butter, wide head, never had to oil it. It lasted me 9 years till the charger died. Can't recommend it enough.

Edit: I have yet to see something that contains beard hair though. I think you just have to deal with a beardy sink.

Get a handheld mirror, trim in the shower before you take one.

This is what I do, and it really works and helps.

I use the Trym II, and for the most part I'm happy with it. I wish it had more length choices that are closer to the skin, but I understand why not.

Really don't have too many issues with it, probably the best I've owned.

I've got the Wahl Lithium Ion. It's like $35, battery last forever, and has a good amount of attachments. I've used it to trim or completely get rid of my beard and it's also got a nice weight to it.

I found it through The Sweethome's review for best beard trimmer.

I've had the newer Phillips Norelco 7200 for about a year and it's okay. It still gets hair in the sink, but it's mostly contained in the vacuum chamber so cleanup isn't too bad. I generally keep my beard short so that might help.

With how much I use it, I should really invest in something better. Interested in seeing what people recommend.

Just get the wahl peanut. Because it has a cord it has ridiculously more power and offers a way better trim or shave. It is also small and light and the motor is American made, which means it lasts forever. It's cheap too and comes with four attachments.

Works on the rest of the body too...

Thanks for this, will probably get it soon.

I had that same Philips trimmer OP, it's awful. I invested in a Wahl 9818, fantastic trimmer with loads of different lengths/attachments

How's the trim? With my current one I have to push it against my face and run over it several times to get a clean trim. Otherwise the straggler hair looks messy. Thats another problem apart from hair flying all over.

Yup. Got mine in 2012 and it's still trimming like a champ. Great trimmer

I have or have had multiple:

This is the most similar one that I have now:

Philips Norelco 7000 series

It's as good of a beard trimmer as I've owned. It's a couple series up from the one in the OP. nothing that great about it, but I like the numeric length indicator in MM, not because it means anything to me, but I know that "11" is the length that I like when I like it short, and 14 or 16 is the length I like when I like it longer. It cleans well and the vacuum still works, though those things notoriously stop working within a year or so, but I don't care. I trim my beard over a folded-out cereal box or newspaper in the sink to collect clippings.

I also have a simple Wahl trimmer for going down to the skin and for cutting edges.

When my beard is serious (haven't had a long beard in over a year), I have to clip it with scissors. A decent scissor set was like $20 on Amazon.

Perhaps the most versatile trimmer you can get under $100 (and you can easily get it for less than $50) in terms of the range of beard lengths you can trim to. I watched a lot of comparisons between this trimmer and the one in OP, and the one in OP is better for clean up (which is a pretty significant bullet point), but this one had better range in lengths and build quality IIRC.

Few products I've bought have done me as well as this trimmer TBH.

EDIT: Also super easy cleaning.

Very good as long as you keep the blades oiled. I can recommend wahl as I have a 30 year old hair clipper which still works perfectly

As mentioned, you will get a cleaner trim from a plug-in unit due to the extra power, but I find the cordless good enough to even cut my hair.

I never thought I would need one but yes I do. Thanks Gaf for the options. Will do my research and try one out. My beard is a mess right now but I wanna keep it and make it look neat.

Yeah this is what I use. It's pretty clutch for the price I would say.

I use a $30 Wahl, and while it's better than every $30 trimmer I've purchased (they're mostly garbage), it's still not that good. I need to upgrade to something moderately priced.
