Yeah that's what I said, minus the distinction of Mac vs PCExcuse me??
Everyone that buys a gaming laptop has a PC.
Everyone that buys a Mac has a Mac.
Ding ding ding. Simple as that and you and some others are just next level trolling at this point.![]()
If it could run the exactly same PC programs natively, yes. Simple as that. Was PS3 a PC?
What? No it does not. Do you know anything about SteamOS or Linux gaming? "Out of the box" is simply not true. Try and play BF6 on the Steam Machine, see what happens. That's yet another sign we are talking about a console. You don't need to "slap" anything onto your Steam Machine, because everything works perfectly, right out of the box.
Thats not Valves problem. If devs actively doesnt want to support linux...and rather prefer to force everyone on windows...than thats there own (questionable) decision. What? No it does not. Until Valve lock down the software so you can only play games through their software - then no - not everyone has the same thing - they just have the same hardware.
I agree it's not Valves problem, but it shows how dumb "just works out of the box" really is.Thats not Valves problem. If devs actively doesnt want to support linux...and rather prefer to force everyone on windows...than thats there own (questionable) decision.
The shape of a thing defines its purpose and its name.
Both the PS5 and the Steam console are shaped for gaming - size, hardware, power efficiency, gamepad, interface, etc. Therefore, both are consoles!![]()
A shape includes all of a thing's physical attributes. The Steam console and a cardboard box don't have the same shape even though both are rectangular. The shape! The shape of the object defines it? What are you taking about?
Is this mini MSI Cubi actually a console because of it's shape?!

It absolutely is Valve's problem. It's not a developer's job to make sure their game runs through an emulator or support a platform(linux) that so few people use. And you're crazy if you think not choosing to support Linux is a questionable decision.Thats not Valves problem. If devs actively doesnt want to support linux...and rather prefer to force everyone on windows...than thats there own (questionable) decision.
No, its not Valves problem. They cannot and dont want to force any developer to do something what they dont want. In most cases its just really one switch to activate their anticheat for linux. And there are tons of multiplayer games (with anticheat) which are just working fine on linux. It absolutely is Valve's problem. Yeah, and why do some people seem to think a classification as a console is somehow a requirement for a device in order to actually compete with them on the market? Why are people desperately trying to make this a console?
It is Valve's problem because they decided to build SteamOS on an operating system most PC games aren't made for. Valve doesn't need to force developers to do anything; if their devices ran Windows, there wouldn't be any problems with compatibility. This is something all the other PC manufacturers have done, but Valve chose not to do this, which is fine. It's their device, so they can do whatever they want with it, but when there are problems, they are the ones responsible. Battlefield 6 on PC was made for Windows only, not Linux, not SteamOS, not Mac, not Android, and it's not EA's problem if someone can't run their game on unsupported hardware. No, its not Valves problem. Any seller of pre Build PCs can sell a mini desktop or laptop just as plug and play with zero config the same way.
Ok. What would your grandma call the new device with a gamepad that you just unboxed and plugged into your TV?

The hardware is supported. The problem is only their shitty anticheat.Battlefield 6 on PC was made for Windows only, not Linux, not SteamOS, not Mac, not Android, and it's not EA's problem if someone can't run their game on unsupported hardware.
1. You have to deal with windows. What is the disadvantage of replacing steamos with windows?
