The Dark Knight is easily the best Batman movie. The original one with Keaton is good. and the one from the 70s is just funny, but all the actors, especially the villains are brilliant.

I think the Dark Knight is overhyped to me. Its good, but Begins is superior to me in writing and tone.

Also, the music is incredible, this literally feels like the seasons of life, the good and the bad, and that no matter how hopeless and dark we feel at times, it will get better.

The soft melody at the beginning makes me think of a child's vulnerability and how we can carry that pain into adulthood and eventually prevail.

Bale´s Batman is simply horrible (that voice is ridiculous) but he saves it by being the best Bruce Wayne.
I like the Bale movies, but I totally agree with this.

Guy sounds ridiculous. All they had to do was tell Bale to speak in a slightly deeper meaner voice when he's Batman. Yet they got him to sound like an angry throat cancer survivor.

Batman Return has a special place in my heart but I think Batman Begins is a better movie. The cheesy stuff doesn't hold up as well.
Havent' seen the latest one yet though.

Batman Returns

I don’t like how the Nolan films prioritise drama over the action, it makes them a chore to rewatch.

They also tend to focus on the main bad guy too much and less on the additional side villains, reducing the scope of the battles.

I like them all, the gothic horror of burton, the campiness of schumacher, the gravitas of nolan, even that shitty snyder stuff is somewhat fun. Batman, in almost all of its iterations, is a great character. Although I have a soft spot for the burton stuff because I grew up watching it, its hard for me to not recognize the density of nolan's work in what is normally a sub-par genre.

Will check new one next week.

I am so happy I can hop between The Batman and The Dark Knight now. I still watch The Dark Knight, like, once a year, because I enjoy the hell out of it, but now I can give it a bit of a rest and see how fresh it feels a few years down the line.

Edit: double post, sorry :(

I voted for The Dark Knight because of Heath Ledger, but the original Batman movie with Michael Keaton was iconic. I haven't seen the newest movie but would be shocked if it comes anywhere close to the two previously mentioned films.

Also Mask of the Phantasm should be listed in the poll. It's arguably one of the best Batman movies.

Pre March 4, The Dark Knight easy.

The Batman eclipsed it for me, it’s fairly close, but the Batman just does so much more right for the character.

I think they’re sticking to live-action because if we added animated, then we’d have to add not just Phantasm, but also Under the Red Hood, Dark Knight Returns, Beyond: Return of the Joker, Year One, etc. Poll would be getting a big large by that point.

TDK and frankly it's not even close. It's a near perfect crime action movie.

After that, Batman Begins, The Batman and Batman Returns are all interchangeable #2.

Batman Begins.
It marks the beginning of the more realistic grounded comic movies and inspired a lot of later work. We would not have the Arrowverse without it (even if it lost it’s grounded path long ago). And without Begins no “Dark Knight”, although that’s more a Joker than a Batman movie.
