What do you want from Resident Evil 5?

I think with the release of the PS2 version we can all agree that RE 4 is one of the best games this gen, in what way to you, can Resident Evil 5 be on par with RE 4? I've just been playing it, and it's made me realise that it's gonna have to come a long way to better RE 4. So what do you want?

I want:

-Actual physics this time, makes the environments seem more realistic.
-Destructible environments, bullet holes in walls, etc
-Action on par with Resident Evil 4
-60fps
-Length a bit longer than Resident Evil 4, 20-30 hours first time
-
More on Wesker, and a better story, about the rebirth of Umbrella
-Zombies!
-Perhaps more different creatures, like
the Tyrant or Verdugo (RE4) or It (RE4)
-Retain the great atmosphere of the previous games.
-RE 4 had among the best art direction I've seen, hope RE 5 is on par with that.
-Less linear.
-Better soundtrack.

Tank controls
pre-rendered backgrounds
bad voice acting
good story
good gameplay
puzzles
scary

sorry, I didn't like 4.

They should really try and make it more scary. 4 was creepy, but very, very few genuine scares.

Can't really think of anything else, the game was practically perfect for me. Well, I suppose they could try and write a good story, but as I've yet to be impressed with any game's story (when they're actually trying) in of itself, I don't really expect that to change or care.

All good ideas, but I have another one kinda related. While we're waiting for RE5 to come out, why don't they release that old version of RE4 via a Director's Cut or something (and for laughs the old RE2 too since they did the same thing there)? They scrapped it because it was too much like the old REs, but it was definately looking hot. Just bring it out as a "Lost Version Collection" or something. IGN had some videos up on it earlier this year too, but I don't know if they're still around. I'd get that in a heartbeat.

-Linear gameplay style, but choices in paths so you'll end up playing the game several times through to see how all the choices differ. (eg. different bosses for different paths, get different guns). However, you shouldn't be able to do two paths in one game, you have to pick one. (I know RE4 had this, I want more)

-Zombies!
- Smart Zombies!
-A machine gun/grenade launcher

- some sort of level where you're on a train.

lol these are all really weird.

I want all resident evil characters to appear in it

Billy, Barry, Sherry, Ada, Wesker, Chris, Jill, Leon, Rebecca, Krauzer (if he survived), Carlos and whoever I'm missing

they could revive the ashfords too, or someone just as crazy

i want innovative control...

it's okay, no one is perfect. you shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

-similar controls to RE4. The video that was shown looked more like the previous RE's.
-Ability to switch weapons on the go (maybe with the D-pad)
-more path choices. There should be different paths in each mission, all of which lead to the same goal. So, taking one path may force you to fight El Gigante for instance, while another would have you blasting your way through a part of the woods full of zombies
-smarter zombies
-Shed more light on RE4. It doesn't look like the main character is Leon, but I want Leon to be apart of the story somehow
-NO STRAFING. That would ruin the controls imo.
-Longer length
-Physics system.
-More melee options. A knife is cool and everything, but you should also be able to pick up certain items in the environment and use them as weapons. Katina anyone?
-Co-op/multiplayer. Imagine being able to play 4 player in Salazar's huge castle, and have hundreds of zombies everywhere. Each player would start off at a specific area of the castle, and whoever survived the longest would win.
-Scarier

Depending on your exact definition of ''gameplay'' but for me Re4 was the first game in a looooong time that had actually fun gameplay, i didnt play it for the story, voice acting but the game was so damn fun.

And im actually a heavy story-based and voice-acting based person. But yeah i can understand it, gameplay does depend alot on the story sometimes.

Basically just a continuation of the story, which will hopefully tie in with the events of RE4, and the same great gameplay that RE4 offered, with some obvious tweaks. Oh, and I want to see Claire naked.

No music changes when a enemy is around the corner, I want to be suprised, not know that somethings there a few seconds before. It's not as jump inducing.

I want the same team that did RE4 to make RE5. I want the game to be just as long and cool as RE4. Actually, They could just make RE4 special edition with insane graphics and ridiculous A.I. and I'd be happy. :D

Man if it wasn't for that music I probably would have had a heart attack in RE4. I think the presence of the music was scary enough, you turn reach a corner and you hear the music and you're scared to see what's around it.

The mere idea of someone not liking Resident Evil 4 is so foreign to me.

More "omg I'm screwed, I'M SCREWED!!" moments. The opening, the cabin, the part where the cage comes down and the clawguy jumps in! Those were the best parts of RE4.

- lost of zombie heads to blow
- running, scary zombies
- big, bad, mean zombies
- pretty chick zombies
- more zombies
- george bush zombie

Definitely. I always dread those moments, and that's exactly how it should be.

Worst part is that when I'm actually playing those parts, I'm like "shit no, not one of these again!" but when I'm not playing it, those are the parts where I think "damn that was awesome!"

I always get to the mine cart sequence with about three shotgun shells, and that's more or less one of the parts of the game where you absolutely need them. Well, for me at least. Fighting in the confined spaces of the carts isn't exactly pistol or sniper rifle friendly. In fact, that's where I saved the game and took a "break" a few hours ago.

edit: am I the only one who thinks RE4 would be an awesome action/thriller flick? I mean, of course, if it were handled right, and not given to that Uwe Boll asscake... just when I'm playing the game, I'm always thinking "wow, this would be great film material if done right..." at least some of it anyway, more specifically the stuff with
Jack Krauser, like the knife standoff and whatnot.

actually, the sniper is the cheap and easy way to get through that sequence. quick headshots to get them out of the way quickly, and you will only have to worry about them if they spawn one of those freaky head bursting creatures. smg, shotgun or pistol those ones to death and don't skimp on the nades (even the flash grenades) either. stay in the back cart and always kill the ones in your cart first. stop others from jumping into yours once you're safe in your own cart. it's how I did it.

but why bother? the awesome fight is already there fully realised in the game for you. Would having actors taking their place make it any better?

-Co-op Mercenaries mode
-More Melee weapons (like fireaxes and chainsaws maybe?)
-More Melee attacks (both normal attacks and attacks performed on stunned enemies)
-More nonhuman/humanoid enemies (although they aren't human, they should still act like an animal/monster might act if they had some self-preservation instinct).
-KRAUSER!

Well, I was more or less talking about when you get unfortunate and a couple land in your cart anyway. ;) But yeah, that definitely works wonders.

Would having actors taking their place make it any better?

Not necessarily. I'm just saying that I think all of it would make for a good action movie, if it were to happen (which it won't). It's awesome in the game already though, as you said, but I'm always up for seeing alternate takes.

I want it to feel like Resident Evil. I never saw RE4 in motion, but then I get a real good look and I see no zombies... in fact the enemies are yelling phrases at you... and it's in some forrest... and you're shooting all over the place... and you're escorting someone... and the music is lacking... it just doesn't feel like Resident Evil, it seemed more like a mix between Silent Hill and Wolfenstein.

From what I can tell in the RE5 video the guy seems to be a STARS agent and there are zomies that are like the new movies coming out, so I'm hopeful.

Try playing games before complaining about them

I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just not like Resident Evil.

I liked RE4 as much as the next guy, but I admit too it didn't feel very "Resident evilish."

I need a much better story - I need me evil corporation, not my chanting cults. Though that was nice, it was pressed a little too much and for too long.
I want my treachery, and my pages and pages of notes to find and uncover.

I want to feel more claustraphobic. I really liked some of the varied environments of RE4, and I want more of them - but I also want that Mansion feel. Tight, small enclosed corridors, turning straight hallways and running into - WHAT?! You don't know.

I wan't stupid zombies too. And smart ones. Sure, I don't even care if they run.
Just let some shamble :)

And scrap Leon. Give me Jill please.

Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, and Ashley Grahmn in a 4-way dance to determine who's the hottest RE chick. While coated in honey.

Though I thought RE4 definitely kept the essence of the series intact, I also know where you're coming from. I think the change was needed, and the new enemies made for more exciting gameplay. But (coming from a fanboy), I really missed the slow moving zombies, finding out what Umbrella was doing next, and so forth. I think the RE4 engine in an RE title with hordes and hordes of zombies would still be as intense and exciting as what we got in RE4. I'm just hoping all that Las Plagas bullshit has some sort of purpose, like maybe that being the original source of the T-Virus or whatever. I don't know.

Have you any idea what honey would actually do to pubes in a real-world scenario? No. I thought not. Please do not post any more irresponsible coating suggestions.

Zombies
Scary.
Fog.
And at least some instances in the game I want it to force the camera into a dramatic shot. Everyone complains about the camera in the old Resident Evil games, but the camera was always set at such dramatic angles that it increased the intensity of the games just like in a real horror movie (Hitchcock is the perfect example of this camera work).
Non linear pathways if the game is outside.
Switching weapons without going to a menu. But only between two weapons that you have preset.

And I don't really think I want the strafing to be huge in this game either. I woud'nt mind if you could do it. But I don't think the character should be able to move very fast. I DO NOT want it contolling like a FPS. Maybe a couple of steps in either direction or something.
I would be fine without strafing though.

And.... I want a Tyrant. Like in the first game.
