What Does MS & Sony Have To Respond To The Year Of The Switch 2?

This years is about to be all about Nintendo's new console and all it's beloved franchises being released/announced anew. Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros, Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime 4, Mariokart, Animal Crossing, the list goes on and on. It's a clean slate on top of Nintendo reportedly getting all major 3rd parties on board from the get go, with an enourmous library of back catalog games potentially with a fresh coat of paint.

Do Microsoft and Sony have any response to this, or is this the year Nintendo just dominates in every category, from the sales, to the news cycle and conversation of games and the excitement of the reveals?

Sony has confirmed the cancellation of many projects with just now starting to refocus on what made the Playstation brand a powerhouse - story driven character games. This will take time to develop so this year is off the table.

Microsoft has self proclaimed that they are basically going 3rd party and that everything including a Switch 2 is an XBOX.

Do Sony and Microsoft have ANYTHING to offer this year that can compete on any level with Nintendo's year of the Switch 2?

First off this reads like chatGPT no offense and second off animal crossing, smash bros, zelda, and donkey kong haven't been confirmed to have any games at launch that are exclusive to switch 2. Yes nintendo has a ton of franchises but we have no idea what their plans on with said franchises at this juncture. I'd personally like to see nintendo release a remake of f-zero GX for switch 2, a new starfox game, a new 3d donkey kong, and new IPs. I'd be happy with that.

There is no proven indication of that. It's just a hopium at current stage.

As for what Sony will do - it'll continue to dominate where it's strongest - in their 2nd/3rd party relationships and big screen gaming.
It's not like switch now a strong contender for playing Wukong on 65+" screen. And service games not particularly flocking on switch either (switch has a hard time to offer something mobile/PC/playstation not already offering)

Sony will probably have trailers and tons of astroturfing by the usual console warriors.
Microsoft will fight Swich 2 intensely by releasing several games for it inmediately.

The same they do every year Nintendo has the year of the rehases, whatever that is, i mean have they done anything before?

Microsoft won't respond, they'll even support it with Xbox games
Sony will respond with modern audience games and probably more remasters.

I expect a lot of games to still drop on Switch 1.

Nintendo isn't about to drop over 140m install base! No one sane would.

Any 1P game that can run on Switch 1 will release on Switch 1.

Nintendo will definitely be launching alot of games on switch 1 sadly. I mean gamefreak are still launching games for the n64.

How did they respond to the Wii U? I mean, let's first wait see what Nintendo has in store because they barely showed anything themselves.

If they want to sell the Switch 2 yeah it would be the sane thing to keep games exclusive to the new platform. Nintendo isn't Sony or MS. Third party devs will certainly keep publishing games on the Switch 1 but I don't see Nintendo doing that, the Switch 1 is also much more limited compared to its successor than the other two's was. Anyway, don't think doing an apples to apples comparison works here.

Look, this is the 1st generation where Nintendo is building a real platform.

The aim of Switch 2 isn't to completely convert all Switch 1 users to Switch 2 asap (in fact it almost assuredly won't), it's to sell the Switch platform to users who didn't opt for Switch 1, and upsell a big portion (not all) of Switch 1 to Switch 2.

It's basically a similar MO to what Sony is doing with PS5.

Microsoft is going to join to the Switch 2 party, Sony like always is already copying the Switch concept, maybe in 2027 they have an answer.

Cringe Fedex simulator 2 and sushi2, plus maybe a couple of mid level surprises and all the third parties that sw2 can't have like gta6, crimson desert etc.

Nintendo hasn't shown anything yet. Can we not proclaim this 'the year of Switch 2' ???
I don't think that Sony or Microsoft has a game to rival a new console launch and especially the Switch 2 level of magnitude with Mario Kart 9 as a launch title, and i don't think that GTA6 is coming this year.

Xbox can't respond to whatever little Sony does to coast this gen and somehow will try to respond to Nintendo?

Sony won't do shit, they'll be thankful both devices "don't fight in the same space" even though they do fight for consumer time and be happy they "win" against Xbone Series that's on life support since the start of this gen

Microsoft will probably have some XBOX first party ports ready for the Switch 2 launch. Everything is an XBox folks.

Sony will say that they are not direct competition and just keep doing what they are doing I suppose. Maybe they'll have Death Stranding 2 or something else by that time.

We haven't seen shit from Nintendo yet tho. A 15 second clip isn't very convincing.

If GTA6 comes this year there is not a single thing nintendo can release to compete with that.

And playstation wll be the biggest benifactor of GTA6.

Nintendo should be careful of releasing around GTA6, nothing they can put can match that ever.

They showed CG renders and a 15 second clip.
And? The trailer already have more than 100 million views across all platforms… Also, they are going to have a presentation for games on April 2, people outside the gaming world already know about the Switch 2… I don't get your point.

You and your views again. Views are not sales.
