8bitdo controllers exist on console too (except PS4/5),
so only the ones who don't buy them instead of the first party ones get fleeced

I found it pretty funny during their show when they highlighted the sticks and just said "the control sticks are now larger".

8Bitdo is freaking great. Their Switch controllers will work on Switch 2, right? Because I can do without the C button 99% of the time.

Hopefully the electromagnets holding the new joycons don't mess with the hall effect sensors. For all we know the mention of magnets in the leaks was meant to refer to that and not hall effect sticks.

Nintendo has to be very careful what they say about the sticks, because they're facing class action lawsuits about stick drift. If they outright said "we added hall effect sensors so drift is a thing of the past!" that could potentially be presented in court as an acknowledgement of the scope and severity of the drift problem on the OG Switch.

This is probably also why you see them bragging about how the sticks are "larger" and "quieter" but I don't think they've ever mentioned the reliability or smoothness of the inputs. I'm sure Nintendo's legal team is taking a red pen to any and all press materials that mention the control sticks.

Switch 2 is probably going to go the PS5 route. No third party options unless its a premium licensed one.
