I heard it's like some weird store where every item in the store is different; for example, if there's a hundred pairs of pants in the store, they are all different. And I also heard every item is expensive and you're only allowed to buy one item like some sort of ritual.

How much of that is true?

EDIT: I'm not crazy! Damn it! =)

It's a clothing line started by this Japanese designer named Nigo who has a fascination with the Planet of the Apes movies. And you can only buy one item and it has to be in your size so that you don't resell it or something.

A friend of mine is a designer and he's obsessed with Bathing Ape. I only know a bit about it, but I'll share what I do know. A Bathing Ape was originally a Japanese store/ line that distinguished itself by creating and selling one of a kind items (only?). Hence, the insane price point on everything. One just opened in SoHo right? I haven't checked it out yet...

np, IIRC someone has a BAPE avatar, I think it was Che..? Now I know what it means! :D

I found some sweet jackets on eBay, perhaps I'll bid.

Yeah, A Bathing Ape (or Bape Sta) is a Japanese clothing line designed by a dude named Nigo...one thing that's popular from the brand are the Nike Air Force 1-styled sneakers but has a shooting star design instead of a swoosh. Nigo also does a lot of collaborations with other sneaker companies too, like Reebok (the Ice Cream shoes) and Adidas (the Super Ape Star). There's also a lot of great-looking clothes too (depends on your taste, ymmv).

My buddy stopped by Japan recently to do some shopping and picked up some Bape Sta sneakers for me and some other friends at Nigo's shoe store called Foot Soldier (here's a pic of my pair):

Nigo also has a women's clothing line called Bapy.
