What game are you currently playing?

I'm juggling the mass effect trilogy (still hoping for a ps4 remaster port), the final fantasy XIII trilogy (also want a remaster port, even if it is an unrealistic desire), FInal Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy Tactics (Wishing the war of the lions version was on ps4).

Final Fantasy VII Remake: I think I'm almost done with Chapter 10 and I'm having a blasty blast so far.

Assassin's Creed Unity: Wow, this game is seriously underrated. I'm on sequence 10 now and I think it may end up being one of my favorite games in the series. Paris is amazing and the missions are so damn good. I love infiltrating these mansions and just picking off the guards like I'm Michael Myers or something. This game needs to be given a second chance.

What time is it?
  • After a few year break, I'm back into Spelunky Daily Challenges. I'm super rust but managed a King Yama clear yesterday.
  • I'm started playing RE:0 on PS4. Still on the train and it's underwhelming. Hard to articulate but slim and crab mini bosses are dumb. Voice acting is abysmal.
  • Playing Ion Fury on Switch. I miss classic shooters. Big levels scratch that exploration itch and the guns feel ever so good.
  • Debating picking up AC:Odyssey Gold. I mainly want it to try Liberation and AC:III.

I'm still playing XC2 Torna DLC and Sakura Wars.

I have to say, I'm really enjoying my time with Sakura Wars, more than I expected.

Darkness no more
I finished Persona 5 Royal. Long game! The pacing in the last third seems way off and it drags a lot. Overall really good game though. I normally get 30-40 hours into Persona games and they wear me out. This is the first one I have finished.

I did not play the original game so I did not know Maruki was a new character. I didn't like him much so I chose to max out other social links over him. Then I found out in order to unlock the extra chapter from Royal you needed to have maxed him. Kind of shitty all the new content is locked unless I replay the entire game from the start. Don't have another 90 hours for that.

Its a Walking Dead /Life is strange kind of game where you make choices and affect the story but it is more involved and there are many options which are available at any one time. You also solve puzzles and stuff. The story is interesting so far, its an episodic game and I've only just started the 1st episode.

Halo 5 multiplayer, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Metroid: Samus Returns and about to start a file on Kingdom Hearts 3. Just completed Star Fox Zero.

My "currently playing" choices are pretty obvious and they are very popular games, but i'd also recommend Star Fox Zero if you have a Wii U and are a fan of the series. It was picked on a bit too hard by reviewers. There's a learning curve to settle into the game, but if you look past some of the flaws in execution, you have a meaty classic rail shooter action. It's also one of the longest star fox games. WHile the campaign is relatively short, the unlockable levels and hidden routes are longer than the actual story. Great bosses, a lot of fun with this one.

Still playing animal crossing but also atelier ryza. I'm about halfway through. It's a very relaxing jrpg. Also recently bought trials of mana, so may start that tomorrow or something to change things up a bit.

Assassin's Creed

Never touched the franchise (that people love to hate) but since Origins I am curious about it. And Valhalla hype me quite a bit so decided to see a bit what is it about. I am quite interested in the lore (Assassin vs templar and the concept of the modern days/animus).

5 hours in and I like it quite a bit. Funny to see how a lot of big games now use the same mechanics.

Combat is a bit clunky but I like the parkour. A bit confused by the "blend" mechanic... don't really the point when in the "open world" section.

And so far I like the lore/atmosphere. Can't wait to do the second game as the general consensus seems to say it's the best.

OMG I've been locked into this game for 16 hours in one day....Divinity Original Sin 2!

I will go on the record as saying I absolute hate DnD games and have never been able to last for more than 30 minutes in a Baulders Gate game. Maybe because I'm on Explorer mode or what I don't know, I absolute fucking LOVE this game. I'm doing every side quest I can find it's so fucking great!!!!!!!

Playing as Beast Deathknight, Ifan Conjurer, Sebille Ranger, Red Priest Cleric... kinda feel like I'm OP but it's way more fun to feel that way as now I'm just experimenting with every fucking thing I can find.

The dialogue is world class, the arrogant red priest is unconscious and you go to throw water in his face and he wakes up and yells at you that it's not wine and goes back to sleep lololol

Final Fantasy VII RE (PS4 PRO)
-- Very cheesy, I wish they did not expand that much on the story telling of the original... The acting in English is so bad that you need to switch to Japanese and just read the subtitles.
You should play it because the combat is very good.

Overcooked 2 (PC)
-- Amazing couch coop game, perfect to get the kids into gaming beyond the phone.

Control on PC. I consider it my first truly next-gen title. Absolutely mind-blowing visuals with RTX effects. Destruction and physics are also some of the best I've ever seen.

Divinity Original Sin 2 on PC: Trying to get all the achievements. Just 2 more to go. A true gem and one of my favorite games ever. Every aspect of the game is just crafted to perfection: story, characters, dialogue, gameplay, graphics, etc.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake on PS4: Just started but am finding it hard sit down and play it for very long before I have to stop. Loved the original so am disappointed to see I'm not liking the remake as much.

Touhou Luna Nights (Steam) - A really good game. It plays like a hybrid SOTN. Except it’s a lot smaller and not as detailed. You have control over time and shooting enemies with daggers. Your MP is linked to your weapon, so you’ll run out eventually. Stopping time, placing your daggers, and dodging everything gets you by. You just can’t endlessly attack, but it manages to make itself balance out really well. The bosses are meant to be tough, but they all have their own patterns. You can definitely get yourself caught in the wrong spot and get killed. So far I’m pretty far in it, about 5 bosses down, and it probably has a handful left. I’ve really enjoyed it. Definitely worth the price. I also bought Gensokyo Night Festival and I’m looking forward to playing that afterwords.

I’ve also been playing Trials of Mana on Switch. I’m about 17 or so hours into it. I’ve just been taking my time with it. Finished Dragon’s Crown Pro just recently. I’ve also been playing FFXV again and Anodyne 2. Anodyne 2 was free. It’s a mix of 3D and 2D gameplay.

Crouch terrified in a bush simulator, aka Escape from Tarkov.

I wish I had time to play Apex Legends, Magic arena, Far cry 5, Forza horizon, Gears Tactics and Hitman 2 as well but sadly, I don't. My game time is at an all time low thanks to this flipping virus.

So, for now, when I finally get to the end of the day and can relax with a game, I'm choosing to do so with the most stressful game imaginable.

Don't ask me why.

I have cancelled Rise of the Tomb Raider and have now started Red Dead Redemption 2. I am not the greatest fan of the first game but the first 10h in RDR2 were good so far.

I have also started a new try on Skyrim. I have played Skyrim a lot in the past but never finished the main quest - maybe this time 😄

Also playing a few hours a month:
CoD 2019
FIFA 20
Forza Horizon 4
Division 2

Borderlands 3.

I know, I know. I've been harsh on the game, but can I just say that they patched in a highly requested feature and man does it make a difference!

...you can now skip cutscenes. Game just went up to an 8/10.

Halo 2 Anni via the GamePass.

Not sure why this game isn't that well received. Having a blast with it. Kinda hooked again in the Halo lore and am thinkout about reading a couple of the newer books. Really cool universe.

The Anni version is pretty good too. Had one level so far with massive stutters but aside from that I'm getting solid 100 frames. Such a bliss to play. Already can'T wait for Halo 3 to release on PC.

Halo 2 is considered by most the best in the series. It has a 95 metacritic, so i'm not sure why you think that it wasn't well received. There is some merit to complaints about the quality of the series after 343 took over, but i think Halo 5 has a great multiplayer mode at least. If you're a halo fan like me, you can put a deaf ear to the vocal minority who don't care for the series, but Halo 2 is Bungie at its prime man. Enjoy the game.

Nier Automata. I’m 9 hours in and it’s enjoyable so far. But for a game where the plot is supposed to be the star, I feel like it’s meandering about with no real focus.
THE real plot starts on a 3rd playthrough so there gonna be some more of that for u... But it worth it)

Really not a game for everybody. Personally I’m enjoying it a lot at the moment, and appreciate the slow pace. Visually impressive too.

I finished FFXV. I like the cast after getting to know them more, especially Noctis. The daemons at the end were cool, but I wasn’t prepared to take them on. That whole time jump was crazy. It just happens and it’s kinda interesting for a while. Not much else to do if you aren’t at a high level. Bahamet being human or part human was weird. He sure looked cool. Ifrit had a cool design too

I’ve been playing Diablo 3 for the Xth time. This time on PS4. The item screen is hard to get use to and selling stuff takes longer. I’ve played it since launch on PC. It’s not bad on console. It works very well and it’s a lot of fun. Normal mode is a cake walk. I got to Act V super fast. So many legendary drops. Back at launch I’d have playthroughs without a single Legendary drop. Now it’s pretty common item. My barb has better gear than my original Barb did.

I've been playing Shadow of Mordor , seems like a perfect length for me, not too much bloat but I"m not sure if the sequel will remain like that as I've heard its significantly longer.

I really wish WB would use their nemesis system onto other IP, a Matrix or Batman game with faction thugs or agents that could evolve over time seems like a winner to me

Spent a few hours on Gravity Rush 2. Liking it so far, but of course nothing can bring back the charm of playing the original on the Vita. Still, looking forward to progressing further into the game.

I've also put a few hours into Alan Wake. It's pretty good, definitely high value for the two bucks I paid for it.

Finished Blasphemous yesterday. I can safely say, that I haven't seen anything quite like it when it comes to the visual design. Its 2D art of surreal religious and twisted iconography is disturbing and upsetting, even for me as a non believer. Its environments and character designs are very memorable, mired in equal amounts of beauty and grotesque.

Blasphemous takes a lot of inspiration from Dark Souls, with its fragmented story telling and unique approach to lore, but also in its combat with heavy focus on parrying, tense enemy encounters and gruesome bosses. The level design is excellent, and forms a interconnected world with lots of hidden pathways and secrets to explore. The land of Cvostodia is a dangerous place, but also filled with somber moments and beautiful landscapes, and the backdrops on some of the places you visit is almost as grand as a painting from masterclass painters in the surreal art.

The story about guilt and repentance and the ravaged lands of Cvostodia is sure to raise some eyebrows. If you delve deep enough into the intricate lore you will find horrifying revelations on some of the characters and events in the game. It's like a good novel, only that it is hard to read sometimes because of how fucked up much of the content is. Best are the little stories you get from the collectibles. Some of them are downright insane. The writing is so good in this game.

Another memorable aspect of Blasphemous is the music. The OST is melancholic and sad and conveys the right emotions that accompany the Penitent One on his journey. It's haunting and stays with you even after a play session. Good music is key in this sort of game as it does so much for the atmosphere, and the composer has certainly delivered on that front.

I love Metroidvanias and Blasphemous is one of the true highlights of this genre. Even if the gameplay and overall execution is familiar, the visual imagery and music makes it a standout and left a long lasting impression on me. I'd rank this among the best of the best, together with the likes of Symphony of the Night, Super Metroid and Hollow Knight.

It's in my backlog, and I'm sure I'll love it. Enjoyed your description - it's whetting my appetite even more.
