"Children of Silentown" is a horror point-&-click with creepy looking hand-drawn art and melancholic music. It's about a young girl living in a town which has a mystery. The demo has you do basic tasks like help cook for dinner and explore the town a little. The gameplay has a few puzzles like finding items and slotting them in correct places.

It was a nice experience and I was wanting to know more. The hand drawn art and the music really helps with the atmosphere. I don't really play point-&-click games though as I find them too dull. So not sure if I can play the whole game. The game also didn't have any hints in case you got stuck in a puzzle. And no controller support either.

I think for fans of the point-&-click genre, it might be worth a try.

Demo playthrough below:

Metro Last Light has featured some very exciting segments. The railway car was really cool as was the underground Venice station. The surface levels are also one of the games highlights. The sequence with the crashing airplane was intense.

And everywhere I go breathtaking views are there for me to behold. 4A has nailed the apocalypse setting. I also dig the concept of light and dark as it sets up some cool stealth segments where there is a sense of risk and reward.

So far an excellent sequel. On par with the first one, maybe even better.

I have a hard time believing Metro is a last gen game. It looks more like current gen. And if we are talking handheld... wow what a jump in graphics. Absolutely stunning. To think that such drab and depressing environments could be so beautiful.

Finished Metro Last Light. It was very good, unfortunately it fell apart during the last stretch with a weak end boss, some annoying level design, and too much darkness overall making it hard to see. 2033 stays on top after all.

Overall, Metro Redux is a fantastic collection that adds great value. It's an impressive port by 4A games, one of the best I've seen for Switch, and it looks and plays great both in docked and handheld. Last Light however, crashed two times and I had to close the app in order to continue.

4A has done a solid effort of adapting the novel and stay true to the source material. It captures the bleak and foreboding dystopia that Dmitrij Gluschovskij builds up in his books. It's a compelling journey from start to end, with few minor hiccups such as uninspired enemy designs and weak bosses, but in the end it's a journey definitely worth doing.

Metro Redux is one of the best storytelling fps I've played since Metroid Prime. They have also aged like fine wine and it's hard to believe these were released almost ten years ago.

WET, continued

I'm really digging it now. This game is a breath of fresh air among the plethora of super serious shooters and cover shooters. The main campain seems to be designed around replayability. There's this "trickstyling" point score gameplay that revovles around shooting in the most flashy ways possible which is really neat once you begin to connect more stunts together ( e.g. wallrun + jump -> 360° kill -> dive + slide + human run + etc. etc.). It has some Uncharted inspired gameplay moments, but yet still remains fun to go back and replay. Casting Eliza Dushku was also a great fit for Rubi not to mention its got a bitchin' soundtrack too.

My only gripe is the lack of unique boss battles otherewise its top notch in my book. Its really a shame to read the sequel got cancelled. The original was leading up towards something great. It has a very solid fundament with great potential for improvement.

Nice. I actually got Metro last light complete edition recently, specifically for ranger mode. Got the game years ago on PS+, but can't be arsed to resub just to replay it and buy ranger mode seperately.

Samurai Shodown 2019. The game is nearly a year old, but I just recently bought it. It's been pretty enjoyable so far. It's also my first Samurai Shodown game.

Ori and the Blind Forest is good stuff. It's like Rayman, only it looks more refined and has more charm. I'm about 40% through the game now, but so far it's living up to its reputation.

I loved this at the time but going back to it on PS3 (via PS Now) it looks awful with aliasing and shimmering everywhere. How are you playing it?

On original hardware. Are you certain the 'shimmering' isn't attributed to the grungy grindhouse shader layer?

Could be but either way it didn't look great at 720p either. Bit difficult going back to that when you're used to 4K or thereabouts nowadays.

As of right now:

The Last of Us Part II and The Outer Worlds. Having a blast with both games.

The Last of Us is pushing me to finish the other zombie games on my backlog: Dead Rising 4, The Walking Dead: The Final Season, State of Decay 2, and Days Gone. I’ll probably start this marathon once I finish these two.

Playing Thimbleweed Park now and it's fucking hilarious. Just finished the segment with Ransome the Clown and holy shit, he kept swearing more than I do. Lots of #beeps# there at the end.

I wonder if Ron Gilbert didn't subtly take a shot at the PC-crowd during this part. When Ransome goes out to do his stand-up show, he does a quick monologue just before he goes on stage, saying that people today are a bunch of fragile fuckfaces who only got themselves to blame for not being able to take a joke. Then he goes on a profanity spree calling his crowd a bunch of inbred freaks who fucked their sisters. He even mocks a guy in a wheelchair, saying God punished him for being ugly as fuck.

🤣

Either way, his whole stand up routine was some of the funniest and meanest shit I've ever seen in a video game. As Ransome himself said after the show; he totally killed it.

I got that when Epic gave it away. Always thought it looked good. It reminds of Mulder and Scully. Thought the Arresttron 3000 was hilarious.

I’m playing TLoU2. Played some Remotely using my Vita. I have had to charge my Vita twice now. Remote play works best on my laptop with the DualShock. I only do this when I can’t be by a TV. Overall having a good time. If you don’t change your controls, shooting is tough. I had some interesting stuff happen. Sat my Vita down and shot my gun off twice (waisting ammo) and some delay pulling out gun due to default buttons being on the rear touchpad. Was also playing Xenogears and learning about the prophecy again.

Found the phonebook in Thimbleweed Park. It's brilliant, you can actually call people, industry people, like David Fox, who worked with Ron Gilbert at LucasArts and listen to his voice mail. He made Zak McCracken and Maniac Mansion among others. Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert are listed in the phonebook too but unfortunately you can't call those numbers. Even Guybrush is listed, lmao. I'm gonna call every godamn number and see what they have to say.

I finally made more progress in KH3! After about 6 tries, I finally beat the wolf boss in the Frozen world! It was really satisfying to make progress in a game I gave a break to since last year. The reward was having alot of story take place afterwards, with some interesting stuff happening.

Just finished Shin Sakura Wars - Platinum. Very charming little game, that's niche and old school.
Well, it was supposed to be TLOU2's turn, but I decided to wait out for sales.
Am getting little tired of ACNH at the moment - so I am debating which game to pick up... I've been tossing between RE7, FF7R, Zelda Link's Awakening on Switch, Xenoblade Chronicles... or Dragon Quest 11 on PS4 - and for some reason, downloaded Persona 4 Golden on Steam the other night out of whim.

I do have it on Vita and finished once - my first Persona game, and while I really liked it - I never understood the mechanics of it of whole social rank and all towards end of the game going blind. I meant to re-play it on Vita even to this day, but now I can re-play the game in my own native language. :)

Glad you enjoyed it! I enjoyed it too, been slacking on it's follow up anime but this post reminded me to continue it XD

I also have been watching the anime - I'm up to like 5th episode or sort. They did pretty decent job of capturing the Sakura Wars feel, even down to the dumb level of Sakura not even recognizing Hakushu being the White Mantle lol...

One thing about the Shin Sakura Wars though - I like their singing voice, frankly better than the original cast. I can tell the Seiyu's are much more trained musically, I do hope to see the series continue in the future, and fingers crossed!

Visiting my parents so I'm digging out tons of old games to play them again, because I have most of them stored here.

But I am seriously playing Etrian Odyssey Nexus. I am stuck at the Southern Shrine.

replaying Ocarina of Time just for nostalgia, but now through a design lense, noting down story and gameplay beats. So many small details I forgot about.

Finally got bored of Monster Train after 90 hours. I'll probably eventually get to the 170 hours I played Slay the Spire if they continue to add content.

On my laptop I'm currently finishing up Shadowrun: Dragonfall and enjoying it despite how simple the combat is compared to Xcom and Gears Tactics.

On desktop I'm trying to play as many Steam Summer Festival games as possible. I haven't played anything that interesting yet.

Got distracted from Ys: Oath in Felghana and started playing Mario Galaxy 2. 45 stars later and I can't put it down. As soon as I'm finished I'm going to finally take the plunge into LoZ Skyward Sword.

Getting close to beating sakura wars. Also started bloodstained ritual of the night. Not quite sure if I like it. The first boss took me three tries and a bunch of grinding just to barely defeat it.

Well I finished Portal 2 and it was amazing! Started Final Fantasy XI the Online one, doing it solo without a guide >.< Yeah it's near impossible but thank goodness for past players showing up and helping. Wish me luck, this will be the hardest game I tried to play yet, Harder than Alundra, Vagrant Story, Dark Souls Games and what ever other hard game you felt was difficult :p

Nothing but Persona 4 Golden (Steam) during the week after work for a couple of hours, and Command & Conquer Remastered during the weekends, usually on Sunday.

So, I don't know where to put this but I thought it was good not to share. A friend of mine is playing Sekiro right now and yesterday he told me he reached Lady Butterfly, so today I asked if he killed her. He said no, but he got the hang of it and knows how to do so. He's good, he got it. I asked if he at least took one bar out her life. He said SHE ONLY HAS ONE BAR.

Sekiro is a fucking cruel game man lol.

Playing The Last of Us Remastered for the first time. I'm glad they kept some of Uncharted BS...and by that I mean I hate it.
Opinion so far? Cool but not impressed

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux. I'm actually binge-playing this series and man, what an amazing bunch of games. Great and mature story lines, cool combat mechanics and, at least in the games I've played so far (SMTIV, SMTIV:A and this) the soundtracks are amazingly good.

Also The Last of Us Part II. Sometimes very fun (especially during encounters against human enemies) and really boring at others. The pacing in this game is all over the place and the plot isn't interesting enough to keep me playing. I dunno, I might keep playing but I don't see myself finishing it. Shame.

Been playing a lot of co-op stuff with my bro on switch:

Assault android cactus. Up to around the 5th boss now I think, game is decent, but the bar was raised really high for me when it comes to this genre with nex machina and this doesnt quite reach those heights . The highlights here are definitely the boss battles, levels in between are a little too autopilot-y to beat. i'd give it a 7/10 thus far, not really that compelled to go back and beat it if i'm honest.... More interested in trying to beat enter the gungeon co op, though i think my little bro may have given up on that game. xD

Unravel 2
- Fun little puzzle platforming co op game, puzzles/bosses have been a bit too easy so far though, perhaps it gets more interesting/challenging later? Seems like a relatively short game so plan on finishing it. So far id give it a 7.5/10

Overcooked - Boy is this a bunch of stress inducing hilarious fun, Super late to the party with this one, knew id love it based on the concept and some videos id seen, and it certainly has delivered and then some. Super creative and challenging level design keeps you interested throughout. 9.5/10. Will probably buy the sequel when it goes on sale again, interested to see how it plays at higher player counts too, its hard enough just to coordinate things with two at times. lol

Single player stuff:

Butcher - This wayyy exceeded my expectations, gunplay and movement is super tight/satisfying combined with fun level design, I'm about 60% through and this is a solid 8.5/10 for me. A hidden underappreciated gem imo.

Celeste. Only about an hour or so in, im not as enamoured by it as others, perhaps it gets better as the challenge ramps up, still cant figure out how some of them damn strawberrys I had to skip are acquired! Too early in to give it a rating. Plan on finishing both these games by the end of the week.

Just Pokemon: Ultra Moon (3DS) as of late. Very close to beating it so want to get it done before I go back to some other titles I was playing.
