Started Resident Evil Village - and got mauled by the fist werewolf rush section. I suck at FPS games - so I may end up play at 3rd person perspective.
(I was hoping that I would play it as 3rd person as my 2nd playthru - I'll give a few more tries and see if I can stick to my plan)

After being massacred, decided to try out something else since I haven't touched PS5 and XSX... (Sorry Switch, it's been sitting there for longest time untouched)
Bought Last Odyssey on sale - (already had Blue Dragon). I actually love the MS store - that I buy the game in my US account, and change the locale / and download the asian localized (with my native language ver) - so good. Some games not only have subtitles, but some also have voice dubbing too! Good stuff. Tried out the Last Odyssey - and I was surprised this was actually 360 game. Pretty slow for my taste at the moment - but it still looks pretty good to my old-gen eyes.

Also gave Gravity Rush 2 - that I totally forgot that I kinda gave up in mid-game and continued a bit. At some point, it felt like I'm spending too much time collecting gems and doing side quests, that I got rather bored. All the charm it has in its surface and I really want to love the game... but so far I can't seem to fall in love with the game that much. One of the issue that I have it is the storytelling being rather flat... and characters too. Traversal is great and all, and art direction is top notch though.

I consider him one of the best in the point and click genre (or adventure genre), up there with greats, Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert and Dave Gibbons. Beyond a Steel Sky is Cecils other franchise, and it differs greatly in tone and use of historical fiction that is so prominent in BS. The art design, voice acting and main plot are all very good, with some convoluted puzzles that drags the narrative down a bit, which is par for the course. It features loads of references to the original, so if you haven't played that you might miss some jokes and character development. Either way, Beyond a Steel Sky is a great game that is a must if you're a fan of point and click adventures.

This game used to scare the shit out of me when I was like 9. I’d be too scared to walk to the next screen lol.

I prefer Beneath a Steel Sky, too bad they changed the design completely in Beyond a Steel Sky.

Was in the mood for some platforming so booted up both Crash 3: Warped and Jak and Daxter the precursor legacy. Crash 3 is the only game in the trilogy that I haven't played and it's pretty hardcore, right from the starting levels. Dying all the time. I really want to love Crash, it has some very fun and challenging levels, but Naughty Dog wastes too much time on garbage levels like the jet ski and hog rides. Those are fun at all. Just annoying.

Jak and Daxter is more my jam. Adventuring combined with some solid platforming and charming characters. The gameplay formula is ripped straight from Mario 64 (collecting power cells instead of stars) but it's a solid design so why not. It's fun. It does have some annoying parts though, just like Crash, but thankfully they are few and far between.

Really enjoyed Plague Tale Requiem despite the ending being very predictable, the French got me hooked again.

Also playing Vampire Survivor, just trying to toggle off the achievement, got like 20 to do.

Also playing chained echos but its feeling a bit slow. I need to find a way to grind or my party stronger.

Evil West
Looks like shit but damn if it isn't a blast to play. Having a good time with the combat mechanics. It's generally a copy of God of War (2018) but faster paced with the inclusion of guns and quicker movements.

Since doing Steam and GOG for the first time 2 years ago, I've conditioned myself to be a cheap fuck like a lot of other PC gamers, but I might bite bullet and buy Roll Player tomorrow. Early access status at regular price. So who knows when it'll go on deal. But the dev notes say the only thing left to add is MP and cross plat play which I dont care about. So for me it's final enough. It'll be my most pricey purchase ever on Steam at $17 cdn! lol

A very mellow game. Kind of similar to Sagrada and One Deck Dungeon as its dice rolling and placement.

Not hard to hit the max tier of 38+ points (Hero class). Did it after my 6th or 7th game. Got a 38 score dead on. Eyeballing the scoring systems, it looks like a max score might be about 50 if you get lucky and get all the scoring tabs and some high scoring item/set cards and bonus pts.

I could had got 45 maxing out my card with about 20 pts already from item cards. Add in some more points from items cards and maybe about 50-55 is tops. I dont think it's possible to hit 60. Who knows.

I finished Far Cry 3 Classic on PS4 a few days ago - and the game was good, not awesome, but good. At least on the first island. Then it got very repetitive. At least if you want to do the platinum trophy.

Vaas was interesting, but he didn't have that much air time^^
Otherwise, the story missions were far too overloaded and I often couldn't understand why the helicopter, the boat, whatever exploded, especially when I did exactly the same thing afterwards and the helicopter, the boat, whatever, didn't has exploded.

Anyway, it's done and was a relatively easy platinum trophy for someone who is not a platinum hunter.

Now I'm trying my hand at Rage on Xbox One because Rage 2 was cheap on PSN^^

Just bought BG2EE on Steam for like 5 bucks; I think it's my third time owning the game? Original on 4 discs, the re-edition on a single DVD, then this one.

But I have to say, as much as I like the story I’m kinda forcing myself through the actual game now. It’s got pacing issues. Sometimes it’s amazing and sometimes it bores me to death with slow gate puzzles and slow climbing. I’ll go through it over the coming days. After that I’ll go through Horizon Forbidden West, hoping I can finish both until the GAF GOTY ends.

I beat Evil West. It was a lot of fun. I got lost in the story early in so just skipped all the cut scenes and entirely and so I basically didn't even follow the story at all, but the action was fun. Had some annoyances though and had to reload from a checkpoint because of a bug once.

Next I'm gonna play Grime and Gran Turismo 7. I haven't played a GT game since 5 and hated it, haven't enjoyed GT since 4 which was many years ago. I'm not huge on racing games, but I always liked the progression GT games give. Starting with crap cars and working your way up. I loved the games so much through 4, but once I got done 4 I haven't been able to get into them. I don't know if it was the games themselves or I've started to find them repetitive. So I'll see how long I stick with 7.

Finally beat Lost Judgment after 80 hours or so.

Had a fuckton of fun, and ended up loving each and every thing about the game. It has good looking graphics, an amazing OST, great beat'em'up gameplay that's even challenging at times (something that didn't happen too often in the Yakuza games), and even the story was great, which I read on the internet that it was worst than the first game but imo nah, it's well written, well delivered and has some pretty kino moments. Game isn't short on sidecontent either: the side stories are fun as usual, but the school stories are the cherry on top, providing extra hours of cool gameplay thanks to all it's minigames while telling some cool stories too.

In my opinion, RGG seems to be at their peak when it comes to beat'em'up action and writting insteresting stories that aren't full of the wacky stuff we could see in earlier Yakuza games (rubber bullets lol), so here's hoping we get many more entries featuring Yagami and the crew.

Next up I'll be playing it's DLC, The Kaito Files. Heard it's a bit short so I'll try to squeeze it as much as possible, since this is the last I get from RGG Studio until Ishin comes out.

OG Silent Hill and I've just arrived at the alternate town after meeting up with Cybil and Lisa. This game is kinda fucked up. Graphics are soooo ugly, but it fits the nightmare vibe of the game. Rust and blood and darkness and fog, with weird and creepy klink and klonk sound effects permeating the entire soundtrack. Combat is clunky as fuck with horrible slow tank controls. Sometimes it's just better to run past enemies. Silent Hill shows its age more than many other Playstation games of its era, but I can't stop playing because somehow, it's so damn mesmerizing and weird and scary. It sucks you right into this bizarre fever dream and never lets go.

Got Calisto Protocol for Christmas yesterday so I've been playing that. I think I'm one of the few who seem to like it, although I admit there's plenty of stuff that's either jarring or downright poor game design. Not a fan of the checkpoint system for instance. Having to loot a room and upgrade your gear after dying is really irritating. Just put me back to the point where I died, ya know? The inventory is too small too. I know it's survival horror and the game doesn't want you lugging around a lot of health injectors and ammo, but I'm leaving so much stuff behind and it just feels like shabby design again.

And speaking of Christmas, I also got The Quarry and Mortal Shell. Until Dawn is one of my favourite PS4 games so I'm really looking forward to that. No idea what to expect from Mortal Shell. I've heard it's 'souls-like?'

Also got The Witcher 3 on the go. People calling me freak and mutant wherever I go is starting to get upsetting and annoying. I hate the real world. I'm gonna stick to games. I'm up to Skellige story-wise and I'm actually going around finishing up side quests and witcher contracts.

Currently playing Tinykin, I'd recommend it for its well done 3d platforming and the pikmin like mechanics are unique for platformer, its fun and controls well, that being said its a bit easy and the npc's are very bland but it is fun to play which is most important.

i wish i could post an image but screenshotting is a bit jank with the game. Suprisingly i only had one more zone to beat to even finish the game. I guess that's it since i can't be bothered to beat it again with Tails.
i got a LOT of mileage out of replaying this game 3 times. Shorter games are better that way. Of course there's also the fact i just love this game

I've also been playing crash bandicoot because of course not. The N sane collection is really well made and a great update to the originals gameplay wise.

I’ll admit that I haven’t watched a single cutscene on Evil West and am just enjoying kicking the ever living shit out of vampires. It’s excellent fun and a real throwback to the 360 era in a good way. Already half way through the game after 3 or 4 hours, definitely recommended if you can find it on sale!

Village is great, only played the first 30 minutes but I really grabbed it for the VR in February!

Just seen Shredders Revenge on sale too, I’ll add that to my playing list too!

I’m currently playing Norco and GW Tokyo, then I’ll get back to TW3. Norco is quite enjoyable and has an interesting premise; GW Tokyo is fun, but can get a little repetitive after a while - I enjoy the linear sections more than the open-world.

It feels like I’m getting by, but waiting for the next big thing - which will be PSVR2 in Feb, then Hogwarts.

CHAOS!! I, mean FF: Stranger Of Paradise.

Having a lot of fun with it, even if its a very rough around the edges visually the core combat derived from TN's Nioh games is top-notch.

The weirdest part is how much it feels like a game from the PS360 era, but at least its a good example of the style of that time.

Playing on PS5 so it runs ok, and I mean just ok. Which is crazy really given Nioh 2 performance using what has to be the same tech not only looks better but runs smoothly at 120hz on the system.

Top tip: Game's still a bit expensive digitally (even with its inclusion in the PSN sale) but I had no trouble picking up a physical copy on PS4 super-cheap, and upgrading it to the PS5 build for free. That way I got the game plus season pass for less than the price of the base offering only.

Finished Silent Hill. The last part of the game took part in a place called "nowhere" and it was the most confusing place I've been to in a long time. Rooms and hallways looks very similar to each other, and you have no map of the place. And the low poly graphics and weird as hell soundtrack gave me a massive headache. But somehow it all works. It gives the feeling of stress and anxiety, fear and paranoia. You don't know what the fuck is going on and you're basically lost. Trapped in hell. With no way out other than push through. As a horror game, Silent Hill was a game changer in 99. The creative nature of the game is outstanding and push never before seen images, events and surroundings, to the point where you're unsure if you want to keep playing. It's that disturbing.

It was a good revisit given it was around 20 years since I last played it. But you can clearly tell this was a first step into something much greater. SH 2 took the whole concept to a whole other level. It's just a shame Konami couldn't reinvent the franchise and instead let it go down the shitter. The Universe of Silent Hill is ripe with stories to tell, characters to meet and weird and scary stuff to experience. At least we're getting a remake of SH2. I'll take that until Konami figures out what direction they wanna go with this unique piece of horror series.

I posted this over in the Deck thread but I spent about 50 mins, including idle time, with The Ramp. It is enjoyable but there's not much depth. Quite enjoyable for the low price tag. I picked my copy up at Fanatical so it was like $.50 or $1. I hope the dev fleshes it out in a sequel. Difference levels with goals ala Tony Hawk would be fantastic. I would recommend but maybe not at the full asking price unless money isn't an issue.

I played through the first 3 The Room games on my Deck recently as well. Enjoyable, though the 1st still remains my favorite. I'm now playing through 4 and that too is enjoyable. Puzzle games are probably my favorite category these days. Nothing better than having a complex problem to work through while I sip my morning coffee or to chill and wind down with during the evening.

I posted over in the Inscryption thread too, but I did finish that one at 100% achievements. My hatred, then love, then frustration, then love, then hatred, then mild enjoyment of the game make it a mixed bag overall. When it shines, it really shines. The last act is a bit annoying, as you gain a lot of depth to the options for decks in acts 2 & 3, which get removed entirely for the final act. Granted, the last act is the games 'challenge' mode. But I would have loved to see it add back in those elements from the previous acts. I should add that I absolute abhor RNG and usually card games but this one was enjoyable enough for me to surmount those issues.

I played CS 1 and 2 back to back. I enjoyed them, but I should probably play something else to avoid burnout.
