What game are you currently playing?

Gears of War Reloaded - I ran through this to completion over the last few days. Such a cool game, but definitely shows its age, even in its "Reloaded" state. Made me want to continue onward, so I've already fired up Gears 2 via 360 BC on XSX. Looks and plays so much bigger than the first!

Hell Is Us - Still loving this, but after moving on to some new areas I'm definitely noticing the flaw of having just a few enemy types. Still, the atmosphere and world-building are carrying it, not to mention the epic sound design.

Borderlands 4 - Bought this despite holding off initially, dumped 3 hours into it last night. What an addictive game, definitely going to blast through a lot of it until Trails in the Sky and Silent Hill f release.

I've never played so many games at the same time as I do at the moment:
- Hell is Us
- Cronos The New Dawn
- Indiana Jones DLC
- Metal Gear Solid Delta
Pre-ordered Dying Light The Beast and Silent Hill f.
Started another NG+ run on Star Wars Jedi Survivor and The Last of us part 2 this week too.

I quit my job last month and enjoy the free time 😅
But I've also been through hell at work for the last 18 months, so I've earned this time off! Only sleep, eat, game all day - my partner is really annoyed already! 😬

Just wrapped up Days Gone. I tried a few years ago and bounced off it after just a few hours. This time around I stuck with it and after about 10 hours I found myself having a blast. The writing is cringe as hell and the whole story is basically just a guy pining away for his lady but man did I have fun in world. Killing zombies, Rippers and Marauders, upgrading my bike and just exploring the world.

And whatever happened with the NERO storyline? It seems like there was no resolution there at all. O'Brryan just stops communicating with Deacon?

Been playing Hearthstone. Made it to legend rank for the first time. The game isn't as good as it was 2-3 years ago. But the F2P model is pretty generous. Never felt like I have to spend money.

Been dipping in and out of Nightreign to try the hard-mode bosses and then the general hard-mode (Deep Of Night). It's all good stuff but I think I'm ready to move on (at least until DLC).

Since then I tried and finished Nobody Saves The World, short and fun game with some cool mechanics. Though I feel that there was a huge missed opportunity with tying the form-changing abilities to the story and characters. The forms and their builds are great, but them having almost zero relation to the story and characters takes out any immersion the game could've had, and heightens the feeling of simply optimising numbers. The same goes for the quest log, which was streamlined to the point where it was hard to pay attention to any fun the writing and characters might have.

Recently started Nioh 2 and really loving it. Gotta say I'm surprised by how similar it is to Nioh 1, considering how it was praised as being a massive improvement, but having enjoyed the first game I'm pretty happy. For one, I really appreciate how much it changes the souls-like formula to Team Ninjas own style with a huge emphasis on mechanical combat depth. Mastering the ki-pulse in conjunction with weapon and style changes for combos is incredibly satisfying, and I do feel like the level design has improved slightly over the first game (which for me was by far the weakest part).

I am playing a pretty unknown game that only the most hardcore gamers may have heard of.
It's called Withcher 3 and I will have to say that it is very good.
Just finished the main game and started the first DLC called Heart of Stone.

Yeah it's a very interesting indie game.

Focusing on on the road gaming, chipping away at Darkest Dungeon II: Curse of the Court (Kingdoms chapter 3) on Steam Deck, as well as Drifter which is an awesome retro point and click. No space for gaming at home due to family life but I'm still trying to squeeze in Claws of Awaji for AC:S this week. Starting to build a backlog which is new for me.

Resident Evil 2 - Original - Leon B
Started this up. Made it all the way to the sewers.

Lunacid
Purchased this morning with my steam wallet. Tis very good. Great atmosphere, really solid combat, and very fitting music.

These two games plus Gabriel Knight 2 will keep me going until Silent Hill f.

Call of the Wild: theAngler on PS5.

Mission - Taylor's Tackle Academy: Beginner Class 2. Catch a fish with a Size 7 Hook on a Float Fishing Rig.

This is probably about an hour into the game, maybe less. It is a tutorial mission about hook size and strength. I have been stuck on it for a few hours across two game sessions. I am about to press the PS button on the controller, close the game, and delete it. It sucks because I really just want the ambience with some casual fishing progression. The game delivers that.

But the menu layouts and controls for doing things with the fishing rig and gear in general is absolutely abysmal, obtuse, and clunky af. It has added to the misery for sure. I also wanted to dip back into Call of the Wild: theHunter to check out the Alberta Preserve DLC. I don't know about all that after this sour session.

Loving seeing all of you guys get spooky in September. Hope to see the trend continuing into October.

I am now into act 2 in Silksong, and find I am enjoying it more and more as I progress. It's somehow more Hollow Knight but with its own completely unique feel, I'm the best possible way. Pharloom is one messed up place.

Also much farther into Emio: The Smiling Man. Just began chapter 9 and things are kicking into high gear. It's kind of odd how slow a lot of the earlier chapters were, and the tone wasn't what I expected, but I am still really enjoying it and considering picking up the first 2 FDC remakes. Really good transition into spooky season so far.

So I started playing Bulletstorm on PS5 , and I decided to buy and play as Duke Nukem.

Fucking. Righteous.

I'm having a blast. I forgot how fucked up Duke is. This shit is funny af.

And I love the Skillshot system. It's fun to try different things, and see how we can break the system or abuse it.

Currently playing Borderlands 4, gameplay is good but the world itself just seems so dead and the little to no music does not help. Also playing helldivers 2 which as always is great. On mobile playing Magic the Gathering which is a recent obsession of mine.

Doom The Dark Ages which is or was on sale.

I really like it! I wouldn't say I find it better than the previous 2, as I was in the Eternal is good camp, but TDA is a very solid game. Its much less stressful, probably better suited for controlpad than the previous 2. This game also has the underrated feature of being able to customize everything from gamespeed, to enemy AI, to damage etc. I found Hurt me Plenty too easy here, TDA doesn't seem to be that hard in general, I put it one higher, but with the incoming damage dialed down a bit and slightly longer Stun time.

Its fun to find secrets, there is still platform gameplay its much less pronounced than it was in Eternal. Levels are a bit more like 2016, but more open. I liked the Dragon gameplay as well, and the mecha was.. okay ish. You can pretty much use every weapon you want on about every enemy, there is no arbitrary shortage on ammo. If you want to Shotgun your way through, you can.

Looks good, plays well, no UE5 drivel. Good game.

Just finished the original Wipeout for PS1 last night. Truly a game of a bygone era...it's not like ur racing against the other ships, it's more of a battle against the edges of the course. Total brutality.

I started playing it the other day. Despite the dated graphics, it's from 2008, I'm enjoying it. I finished Fallout 4 a few years ago and liked it, but I never played the older ones. This one and New Vegas have been collecting dust in my backlog for quite a while. There are rumors of a possible Fallout 3 remake, but when will it actually come out? Probably gonna take a long time.

I also started playing this one, Skul: The Hero Slayer. It's pretty similar to Dead Cells. I'll keep it as a side game, no rush to finish it.

Picked up Valfaris on sale for under $4 on PS store, and that's awesome as fuck. Other than that bouncing between BF2042, Rocket League, and FH5 while waiting for BF6 and Yotei.

Did just finish a replay of Last of Us Part 1 remake.

Call of the Wild: theHunter on PS5.

I've dabbled with this on and off over the years. I have never gotten very far in it. It is a bit clunky, all things considered. (I was really into the fishing expansion but quickly got stuck in a tutorial and deleted it in frustration. If anyone can help me figure out Taylor's Tackle Academy: Beginner Class 2. Catch a fish with a Size 7 Hook on a Float Fishing Rig, I'll be in your debt forever! lol)

I returned to theHunter (I just love the oddity of that spelling) and bought the Alberta Preserve DLC. I love the whole wintry and arctic region of Canada and Alaska, and the beaver in the DLC picture was too darn cute to pass up. I am in an early mission to investigate beaver damage at some properties. The trek through local wilderness, even on a main trail, was quite the adventure! (I must add that while playing I was influenced, if you know what I mean haha.)

I shot and bagged two grouse with the shotgun, so that was cool.
The starting rifle is crap; I shot two mule deer but the wounds were very minor and I never caught up to them despite trying. The scope is all over the place even when holding my breath. I really need to make some money and buy some upgrades or better gear.
Some wolves howled but I never saw them, and a black bear scared the SHIT outta me when he roared extremely close to my position. I wanted to shoot into the forest like Arnie and the boys in Predator lol.

I was so totally into it and it was so much fun. My goal right now is to simply enjoy the scenery and go for my own hikes and adventures. I only intend to shoot at der and grouse for now. I just want to enjoy the other animals and the landscape.

Atelier: Escha and Logy on Switch 2

I thoroughly enjoyed Ryza 1, 2 and Sophie 2 (Yumia was a miss). For a while I've been thinking of trying Gust's back catalog.

I'm thoroughly enjoying E&L. The time limit is light - it nudges you to get things done. E&L are charming characters. The small areas are nostalgic of PSP and PS Vita games, and this game is from that era. The autumnal aesthetics are pleasant. The game has autumn-core going for it.

It is interesting to see the older version of the mechanics. I'm enjoying the synthesis mechanics. The combat is a lot of fun. The music is excellent.

I think this was the last Atelier game with English voice acting.

Once I'm done, I think I'll try Shallie next.

After finishing Baldur's Gate 3 and high price of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, started Unicorn Overlord on PS5 since it is a freebie for deluxe PSN. Wanted to play it for a long time but it was too expensive in my region.

Maaan this is a treat! I knew the game would be a good one but it is too much fun too. I'm in like 5 hours and doing side quests but everything is so good. Missons, charachters, tactics, gameplay, quality of life of gameplay, etc etc.

I played most of previous Vanillaware games before but they were so tedious even after 2-3 hours. This is really a gem! How come Vanillaware rejects the PC domain I don't fathom but this game is really creme de la creme. Hope it will come to PC as well.

Been quite busy with work post summer vacation.

Got through about 70% of Ogre Battle 64 before I threw in the towel. It has the foundation of an amazing game, but fuck me it is slow and the myriad of nestled menus can drive anyone crazy. Having it remade with modernized UI, some QOL features and things made a bit less time consuming would've been amazing.

The announcement of a new Fire Emblem game has me so hyped that I decided to revisit one of the best in the series - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

I was enjoying God of War until it pulled a Xena and decided to kill the Norse gods after it decimated the Greek ones. Kratos really is irredeemably evil but nope. He's just a tortured soul.

Not that I expect them to abandon Kratos but I wish they'd move on to other gods of war. Or rather Brother of War considering how often I've heard Mimir call Kratos "brother".

Encountered a game progression glitch in Cronos: The New Dawn. It's in the church area where you fight a bunch of monsters in a cemetery. After the fight the doors won't open and I can't progress. Tried to approach it differently on each try but no dice. Apparently it's an issue on other platforms as well. Game went from a strong 9/10 and possible GOTY candidate for me to 0/10 and never buy anything from Bloober again on day 1. Great job you hacks!

Try the Giallo Corsa Giallo Corsa method. Make a seperate save, delete the old and load that.

LMAO, this is me 10 days ago Hyde :D
For me, it happened way earlier (apt.block) where a friggin' texture was stuck between a hallway and wouldn't let me progress...
They released a hotfix last Friday for these problems but apparently, people are still getting stuck ?

Anyway, try this :
- Load your save
- Create a new save and immediately delete the previous one (the one that gives you the problem).
- Reload your new save
