Someone posted a thread here about it recently, so it's been on my mind. Decided to finally give Terranigma (SNES) a go.

Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia are two of my favorite SNES games, so I'm not sure how I've gone so long without playing this one. Only a few hours in, got through the first three towers. Move set seems pretty limited (so far) considering this is often called "the best action RPG on the SNES". We'll see, but initial impressions are good.

Gonna pick up El-Paso Elsewhere. Had to drop it before cause the disc version shipped with a progress blocking issue which they fixed with a patch.

Really dug what I played of it earlier.

Bionic Commando (2009) - I was actually thinking about making a thread on this to see if anyone else here enjoyed it. I dunno what spurred my mind to grab this off Amazon, but I've always seen it as some weird, cult hidden gem. The reviews weren't stellar, but before there was Insomniac's Spider-Man, you had this game with the most satisfying swing mechanics (to me) since Spider-Man 2 PS2. The dialogue and story is terrible, but hey, Mike Patton plays Rad Spencer so who cares. It still looks pretty nice at 1080p too and the challenge system they incorporated that unlocked skills and upgrades was a really, really cool idea and it worked. It's a fun one to return to all these years later. I love that 7th gen man.

I did play and (I think) beat it as a rental back then. I honestly don't remember much about my playthrough.

People clowned on it for the reveal that his arm is actually his dead wife? and even back then I remember thinking it probably got more hate than it deserved, because it was fine. Just not incredible. Like the Nickelback of X360 games.

I'm playing Yotei and posting on my phone from my chair, lol!
Thats Nice GIF

Edit: Sensei Takahashi just gave me some objectives after I earned his silver trophy! PS this game has a high trophy completion percentage!

I started Hell Is Us and I just don't think I'm in the mood for this type of game right now. Especially when I have Yotei, Ninja Gaiden 4, Outer Worlds 2, and other stuff in my queue ready to go. I played an hour of it and I'm just not in the mood to wander aimlessly with no map and figure things out. Especially since at least in this first area, the layout through the forest area is confusing. I spent most of my time doing nothing but wandering and I don't want a "wasted hours" game right now. I want to play a game where all my time spent is enjoyable. So, moving on. Now to start Yotei finally.

Your spoiler is spot on and what an insane fucking twist looking back 🤣 Could you imagine the reaction to something like that today? Like back then people just thought it was dumb, but the game was really decent (if you actually played through it). What a weird time for Capcom too.

Grildon Tundy Grildon Tundy The Nickelback comparison is interesting. Like I don't really get it, but I get it 🤣

Will be working further on my Plat for Cronos during the week now. Hopefully I'll have the NG+ run wrapped up by the end of the week because it's a bit of a slog now.

I can't believe after the these years original Darks Souls aged so well.

Anor Londo Still god damn gorgeous.

This is the biggest reason why I don't play none of the "Souls-like" in my opinion none of them ever matches what FROM does….none them.

I finished Ada's campaign in RE4 today. My total playtime between the main story and the DLC was around 32 hours. Anyway, I think I'll start Control now. The last Remedy game I played was probably Quantum Break back in 2017. I really liked it at the time, I beat it twice and got 100% of the achievements. Control seems to have a similar vibe, so I'll probably enjoy it too.

First time arriving in Anor Londo was almost a religious experience.

Arc Raiders still has me thoroughly addicted so that's mostly the only game I'm playing. With a side of Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Helldivers II now and then.

And now for something different.

Broken Sword 1 remaster that released last year. Very pretty and colorful.

Has full mouse and keyboard support on console too.

ARC Raiders on PS5.

I only played the tutorial and then one No Fill or Solo quest for Shani. I survived! lol

I met two friendly players who went on their way, and a third who let me use the elevator with him after I shot at robots with him. I really like the aesthetic, setting, tone, score, gameplay, and overall art of the game. I hope I keep clicking with it. It's intense!

Recently gave up on two games.
Alice: Madness Returns and Ultimate Spider-Man, both on PC.

Alice was decent, but after 10 hours, I was pretty tired of the same platforming loop. I wasn't even at the halfway point of the game (according to gamefaqs). I didn't want to go through another 10 hours of that.

Ultimate Spider-Man is clearly a console game. The controls didn't work so well on PC (using my 360 gamepad). It was also pretty brain-dead in gameplay. Not really fun.

My favorite one of the trilogy. I think it has the best level design and atmosphere.

How about Lies of Play it already damn it? :lollipop_content:

In original Dark Souls the most challenging part is environments more than the actual bosses, it's good old fashion dungeon crawler that requires you do resource management.

I just bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the DLC pack to play alongside Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

Looks like I'm playing Mario Kart again. It's been over two decades since I last touched it

Darksiders Genisis. In the middle of the ocean and it's a fun little action rpg, even if there isn't a lot of rpg to it. But the maps are really succinct and perfect for short sessions.

Finished Labyrinth of the Demon King. The first tower is the largest by far, but the second and the third one are the most interesting and exciting combat-wise and survival-wise. The last area felt rushed, I wanted more! But I loved this survival horror as a whole (even the combat), and the last patch fixed the lack of penalty for dying and added a lot of content for new game plus. The atmosphere is intense, the gameplay is challenging and even with its inspirations it's a very unique game . It deserves more attention!

Finished Shivers. A Myst style first person graphic adventure game...but with horror themes. And a psychedelic museam. And 10 demons to capture. And 90s live-action fmvs. The inventory limit for demon's vessels (just one!) felt very weird at first, but it's very manageable at the end. The exploration is very satisfying with lots of wonder and, my God, the puzzles, this game really rewards observation, memorization and taking notes. Only one or two felt a little annoying (that pinball one :/), but most of them were very fun.

And I'm starting Callisto Protocol now. I know this game had a very mixed reception. We'll see...

Risk of Rain 2, my beloved, finally has its 3rd DLC pack (and Gearbox didn't break the game this time!). Spent the past couple days unlocking all the new skins and items. Still working on ability unlocks. Operator's took some doing, in particular the 'kill 4 different types of enemies with a single primary attack', but Drifter's look like they'll be much easier.

The back half of that game is too messy for my liking for it to be my favorite. It also has the opposite problem from modern Fromsoft games where most things are instead too easy to react to/deal with (iow the brinkmanship was largely deserved before we arrived at Elden Ring levels of ridiculousness).

Seconding El Hee-Ho El Hee-Ho 's suggestion. Get on Lies of P, if you haven't. It's the sequel to Bloodborne that we deserved.

People saying but every time I see anything from them game I just feel no motivation playing it.....I guess I'm just not in to it.

I just recently finished my playingthough with original Dark Souls and for me nothing beats FROM's way making Souls games.

Try Wuchang Fallen Feathers.

I'm playing it now and it's great.

Finished Castlevania Advance Collection on Switch 2. As much as I love Igavania, I got little weary after beating 3 games in a row.
And didn't play the SNES Castlevania X for some reason. I love Rondo, so maybe that's why and don't want to ruin my memory - but I am sure it has some redeeming quality even though it's supposed to be an inferior compared to Rondo on PCE SCD?
Either way, I may end up revisit and perhaps play other modes which I never did for almost any Castlevania games. Magician mode and other modes for CotM, or Maxim mode for HoD, and Julius mode for AoS. Thing is that a lot of RPG elements are gone in those modes, so I normally get little bored, as I tend to enjoy seeing my character getting stronger.

With that out of the way, started playing Ys Origin on PC (and Steam Deck). I had a lot of issues with the game playing on Steam Deck though with earlier proton, so left it untouched. Recently updated and used the latest Proton 9.X.X something, and all played fine, including FMVs. It's only Ys game I have not played when it came out first - and honestly didn't expect what - and didn't realize this entirely happens within Darm's tower like some sort of dungeon crawler. I always had some issues with somewhat frustrating control scheme for platforming for VI/Celceta style Ys game... but thankfully this game includes double jump in mid game, in my surprise. The girl character, especially - when she jumps around - she reminds me the old Falcom MSX1/2 game character in Dragon Slayer IV - Drasle Family, aka Legacy of the Wizard (NES title)... the daughter character with high jumps - which made me smile in nostalgia.

Now going for the 2nd run with the Hugo character and nearing the end game. I will probably play the third character Toal when finished with Hugo.

Silent Hill 1 for the first time. Sound design / atmosphere is terrific.
1. Mind blown when I couldn't open the map because flashlight wasn't turned on.
2. The comments in the SHF thread about how there's too much combat and enemies and older games were different were a load of bullshit.
There are enemies everywhere and I'm constantly harassed by them.

Such a good game. Blooper will never be able to replicate it in the Remake. The PSone graphics and the sound design make this game what it is. I really hope it finds its way to the PS5 classics or the GoG store one day.

Been playing games to relax during a graduate school project.

Xbox: Sekiro (terrible choice for me to relax lol, but amazing), Ball X Pit.

Switch 2: Donkey Kong Bananza. This might actually end up my GOTY, I really enjoy it.

More R&R game recommendations are always welcome. Need to let off steam between writing sessions.

Bought BloodRayne PS4 port and I like the oldschool feel, but the controls are absolutely horrible. Can't count how many times I've ended up in the water already, because I instinctively used the right analogue to turn instead of strafe. Still beats classic tank control scheme in a rather dynamic game like this one.

I rotate through a shitload of games on a weekly basis but currently enjoying some boardgame fun in the newest Momotaro dentetsu 2, the computer players still magically get all the best spaces cards & dice rolls but it's SOOOO satisfying when the game has a change of mind & royally fucks them over hard lol. Having king bombi come down & send them into millions in debt with every throw is hillarious (unless it's happening to you obviously lol) forget mario party for friendship fractures this game absolutely decimates friendships at the roll of a dice some of the things you can do to other players is diabolical.

Some bonbi variants return from previous game, this shit has a 7 turn countdown if yoiu can't pass him off onto another player before turn 7 he explodes & takes your entire fortune with him.

The end graph of fortunes (i'm blue) as we can see yellow lead a blessed life until he didn't meaning i snagged first in the last 2 turns lol

One of these days i'll play the 99 year game that lasts like 14 hours, thankfully you can save & continue so you don't have to do it in one full run as with the board been the biggest yet would be fun to go all over it as you literally travel hundreds of spaces between stations. It's a fun one.

Where is the option to skip this or turn it off?

Finally got around to this and turns out... you can't skip the monologues? Weird. Even if you hit the button to see the weaknesses, you still have to wait.

I did try a regular mission too, not just random Captains running around but not any Story ones.

Tecmo introducing the "hold button to slowly reach out and grab stuff" mechanic in later Fatal Frame games is one of the worst, most stupidest, design choices ever.

This shit single handed ruins the post PS2 Fatal Frame games.
