What game are you currently playing?

Speak for yourself, bro :P

A fully maxed out Red9 + stock has every single bullet with the same power as a basic shotgun shell. The stock makes it practically as precise as a sniper rifle as well.

Best gun in the game as far as I'm concerned.
Speedrunners definitely prefer the Chicago sweeper and infinite rocket launcher. I really like the LE5 personally for the attachable scopes, ammo abundance, firing rate, and raw penetration. Remake Red9 is not nearly as good as in the original RE4.

Just finished the epilogue of Xenoblade X DE tonight. As I mentioned before, it is an incredible game. Now I need a decent palette cleanser. Can't go straight into another JRPG, especially not a long one, right off of 140+ hours in Xenoblade X. Maybe a shmup or an fps. I know COD BLOPS 6 has a free trial. I can't really justify buying BF6 yet. Any suggestions for a palette cleanser?

Got myself the Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete Edition from Gog. After playing the hd edition on Steam i've thought i want the complete edition everyone recommends.

Have you played all the Bungie Halo games? How about Gears of War Remastered?

Hi, thanks for these recommendations. I have MCC and GOW:R on Xbox Series X. I haven't finished Halo 2 yet. Already played Halo CE both back in the day and in recent years. I should get into GOW:R though. Never played it back in its zeitgeist on 360.

I started up a new file of Metroid Dread this morning but I wouldn't mind rotating Dread and an Xbox shooter, reading a couple of novels, and then getting back into Xenoblade 2. I love the Xenoblade games so much that I am always either playing one or between playthroughs of one of those games, with other games being in rotation alongside it.

Thanks so much again.

Well, yea, the Sweeper and IRL are bonus NG+ weapons.

Though the Sweeper is EXTREMELY nerfed compared to the OG too. The OG sweeper had 10 power per ammo, the remake reduces it to 1.6 or something IIRC.

After testing dozens of games, finally got one working in 3D on the steamdeck with my XR glasses, Doom 3: BFG. Never got into it before but this time it grabbed me. Slower paced than I was expecting, dark atmosphere and an unfolding story told through great voice acting.

Gears 5 - finished it yesterday. Act IV definitely was great. Just a linear warzone without all the wandering around. The ending came very abruptly. I could have sworn every other Gears game had 5 acts. Feels like they literally put the game out without finishing Act 5. Still enjoyed it but it was my least favorite of the series. I'd give it an 8.

On to Hivebusters.

I am trying to play Battlefield 6 on PS5, but...

I have a launch day PS5 with disc drive.
I play multiplayer for about 30 to 45 minutes and then the console turns off completely. I had to unplug it completely, power it back on manually, and wait for the rebuild each time. That was the only way to get the console to work after each crash. It did that three times.

I just cleaned out the fan and heat sink and I am re-installing the game so we will see how that goes. It wasn't very dirty but there was a little dust inside.

Are there any reports of launch PS5 consoles crashing after some time playing BF6? (Sorry! I don't see an OT if there is one...)

Just got Balatro. It's really fun. It's poker, solitaire edition.

Compared to other roguelike games, it's very simple. That's probably what makes it fun.

Uninstalled AC Shadows after about 30 hours of playtime.
Reached that Ubifatigue where every new zone unlocked contains the same busy work.
They create beautiful worlds but the quest design is lazy and boring.

On the other hand I just found out I have Dying Light The Beast in my library 😁
It was free because I bought the Dying Light 2 Reloaded Edition.
Trying this out tonight!

Your post on the last page made me reinstall Dead Space remake, FYI.

Playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for the second time and I think I'm having a better time. Just had to accept that it's not an immersive sim despite the devs promising 'an immersive experience' on the back cover. ;) Revisiting and clearing locations is just fun.

Finished the 2nd Alan Wake 2 DLC, The Lake House, the other.

Now that is a DLC worthy of it's name. Sadly, it's basically a Control-themed Alan Wake and I'm not a big fan of Control aside from it's core gameplay. To me Control is the worst game Sam Lake has ever written and I'm a bit sadend that all their other games are now pulled into the metaverse it created. This psydo-scientific writing's just horrible. I'm usually a big fan of reading bits and snippets of letters in a game but both in Control and in this DLC as well I simply ditched it. It's just needlessly convoluted and doesn't add anything to the story. I'd rather they have kept the Alan Wake plot in this shrouded mystery.

Gamplay itself was ok I guess. If you like Control's writing, this is your thing. If not, the Alan Wake 2 expansion is not worth the price.

I also wrapped up my first run of Silent Hill f last weekend.

Well, it was good I guess. I enjoyed it for what it was but can't say I'm not a bit disappointed. I wanted to like it more. The plot is way too strange and after checked wiki later on it seems to actually require you to replay the game multiple times to make some sense of it. But I don't think the gameplay loop actually warrants multiple runs.
I played every single SH there is and in the grand scale would rate this only barely above Shattered memories, which remains the worst SH for me. Not that this means much though considering the fact that I adore those games. But yeah, it is what it is. I may do another run here next year or so but it has zero priority for now. Hope Konami goes back to a US themed SH like the others with the next one. Or revamp it again. I don't think there really is something to build upon with SH f.

I just finished the 3rd Ch for Trails of the Sky and entering the final chapter….its sad this game is almost over, the journey has been fantastic.

That's every single open-world game for me, not just Ubisoft ones.

I'd love an open-world game where designers aren't lazy and actually make each zone a unique experience.
I also spent a ridiculous amount of time on my mount riding to objectives.

Set Pathfinder on, enable auto follow then go make a sandwich 😁

2nd time revisit is some going...I am having trouble just staying consistent in my FIRST playthrough (currently in the temple section rescuing the boy) ....I haven't even brought the game either...whether or not I would and would want to go through the scorpion and snake parts again...I doubt it.. I don't think I have EVER revisited any FPS game I have ever played be it Halo, Deus Ex, etc.....(probably GoldenEye aeons ago..)

Still plugging away at the masterwork that is Cronos: The New Dawn

Somehow got pulled back into a replay of Ghostwire Tokyo and I dunno man, I'm sure I'm an outlier here with this one but I've always really liked it. It's just a really chill game to play post-workday and it looks and plays wonderfully on the Pro. The story never did anything for me, but I really like the combat once you unlock and get more powers and gliding around collecting spirits on the rooftops gives me Infamous feels :pie_ssmiling:

Fuckin Tango Games. I miss them.

Been waiting to make this post for awhile because I'm playing the GLORIOUS new Battlefield!

Series X
Battlefield 6 multiplayer
Halo Infinite multiplayer
Forza Motorsport

PS5 PRO
Ghost of Yotei
Dying Light The Beast

PC
Total War Warhammer 2

Was in the mood for something relaxed and funny, so went with Lego Lord of the Rings.

Game is super chill, you can spend hours just wandering around the hub, looking for secrets and collectibles (there's TONs of them) while listening to the OST which ofc is amazing since it's basically the one from the movies. The hub itself is very nice, being a recreation of Middle Earth and allowing you to travel from the Shire to Bree, Rivendell, the Mines of Moria and so on in a sort of linear fashion that still allows some exploration.

The stages themselves are quite easy but still great if you are a fan of the movies, since the cutscenes are very faithful (bar some comedy inserted here and there) and the gameplay itself leads to some very cool moments, like using Legolas and the hobbits to put down the cavern troll in Moria or even fighting the Balrog as Gandalf in a pretty cool scene.

So far very happy with this game. Don't know if I'll have the patience to 100% it (which seems to be the goal in those Lego games) but at least I want to see the story through to the end.

Just finished Yotei

Taking a breather from story games (Ive gone through about 11 this year)
Focusing on some shorter experiences the next few weeks.

Battlefield
NBA 2K26

When im ready i may dive into the Tomb Raider remastered collection right in time for the new Metroid.

The co-op is good too, played it with my wife years back and had a blast.

Replaying Last of Us Part 1 again to get the Platinum. Game's so good. I miss the days where it wasn't all about politics with ND. Just well written characters all around.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengance. I really wish this was the original game or that I would have waited to play the Vengance version. I finished the original release and sometimes it's hard to enjoy this version without stopping and asking myself "Wait, was this how it went in the original game?" every time something happens. So now I wonder: is there going to be another release for Metaphor Refantazio?

Original game still exist in Vengance, when you first start the game it lets you choose between The Canon Of Creation (original release story) or Canon Of Vengeance (the new story).

Battlefield 6 on PS5

I am mostly playing DOM and TDM multiplayer. Squad members don't even revive people anymore. I wish I had friends to play multiplayer games with.

The menus are clunky and confusing. There are way too many button presses to access things.

Weapons are leveled simply by use which is a good thing, but the grind time to unlock even the first camo is real. Of course YMMV when it comes to camo grinding if you're actually good at the game.

I play my Class role as Support, but it doesn't seem to matter. I drop supplies that no one grabs. I place shields that no one hides behind. I revive teammates but no one revives me. One of the MLG pros out there got mad that I wasn't a 4.0 KDR killer and he started shooting me in a hissy fit and then he quit the match. Sorry I'm not 1337 like you, bro!

Maps are too realistic for their own good, but that's a modern gaming trend not specific to BF. Yes it looks cool when trucks are flung about and buildings are collapsed, but does it flow well? It is a video game, so it should play well first and look good second.

I feel like I'm always getting shot in the back but if I take too long to methodically get back to the fight, I am not contributing to the objective.

Finished Aria of Sorrow, and now I'll tackle the Dominus collection.
Picked up Fatal Fury City of the Wolves for a mere £10, it's pretty good.
Went back to Hollow knight to give it another shot. Still as overrated as fuck.
Probably wrap up Desperados 3 tonight too, it's fantastic.

I like replaying games from my favorite genres, currently close to the end of Gizeh and not feeling any fatigue from exploring the same places. Replaying the big main puzzles isn't frustrating and I don't feel like the game is a chore. Finishing Alan Wake 2 for the second time was that and I kinda regret I spent another 30+ hours on it.

If you haven't played Titanfall 2, that's a great 6 hour campaign experience. Also I played through Resident Evil 4 Remake earlier this year as a JRPG palate cleaner and it worked great.

Currently playing:
Final Fantasy Tactics (Switch)
Dragon Quest 11 S (PS5)
Silksong (Steam)
