I think the first 2 Metal Gear games need one, not neccessarily like TTS but more like Square did with FF I & II. Keep it 2-D but change some things that would make it more like a modern 2-D game.

Bleh, Source would be a terrible choice. Doom 3's engine is much more suited for those games (the awesome terminal UI system would be perfect for SS as well).

As for games I'd like to see remade, the first one that popped into my head is Crusader - No Remorse. While it still holds up decently today, it could certainly use an update (improve both visuals AND controls).

I would also LOVE to see a rebirth of the two Little Big Adventure titles!

edit: unrelated but I'd actually like to see doom 64 remade on the doom 3 engine. there's probably a mod in the works for that, though.

Symphony of the Night, with even more lavish 2D graphics. I'd settle for a PSP port, and by "settle" I mean "would rush out to the store to buy one of the damn things posthaste". Also, count me in for a Silent Hill remake.

For older games, I'd love to see something like Star Frontiers or, better yet, Elite for a portable. Oh, and here's the obligatory Wasteland love. Mmmm. Wasteland with slick, updated graphics. Oh, yes.
