What happened to J Allard?

Its nearing the end of February/beginning of March and I sit here playing Fight Night Round 3 on my 360 while looking forward to GRAW, Battlefield 2 360, and Oblivion. Obviously the 360 marketing machine is moving with Moore giving interviews and what not to EGM, etc. Then it occured to me....I haven't heard from J Allard so far this year...in fact, he kinda fell off the radar towards the end of the year. You'd think he'd be conducting at least an interview here or there on his new promotion and what he's up to... so where is he?

It appears he hasn't shown himself in public since this...

:lol

You know he's got over 10K gamerpoints. Obviously, he doesn't have time for interviews. He's either playing games or hanging out with the fresh meat... aka Che.

As he has magically grown hair again, Microsoft had to delay Vista so the entire company could think of a suitable restyle for Allard to fit with his new haircut. :D

I had actually heard rumblings of his impending "disappearing act" for a bit now; mainly that it would be after the Xbox 360 launch and it would be very hush-hush.

Wasn't there some thread about him a few months ago where it was mentioned he'd been repositioned in MS (demoted according to some)?

That's what I'm saying. Where is he now? If he's still with Microsoft, he'd have done at least some type of marketing now seeing as how much he pushed the 360 before and during launch.

microsoft just don't want to admit the 360 is a failure so they delay the news of him being out the longuest possible.

He went crazy, apparently he got tired Microsoft dressing him everyday. Let the man wear what he wants!

You know what's scary? that IS what he wants. He thinks he's hip and singing for REM now.

He legally changed his name from James to J. I gotta think you could be right.

excuse me? i dont have xbox 360 and i am not buying one and waiting for ps3, but xbox 360 is a failer?

the system is sold out for more than 3 months in US, Canada UK and almost every where expect japan [ mainly for less japanese appealing games and lack of new releases ] not because the system sucks. DS sucks compared to PSP and look how its kicking PSP ass its not even funny anymore.

how is that called system failer? they got winning eleven and RR6 and RE5 games which are considered very big in everywhere ... how is the system is failing?

they got Square Enix on board [ not just FF11 ]
they got this guy who is making Blue Dragon.
they got most of the whole world developers making games for the system.

an amazaingly line up of games coming to the system even i hate to admit it.

they released a console 1 year early before ps3 is going to be out and YET they are about the same power that if not some xbox 360 games looked better since its easier to make games than ps3.

you are the failer for not seeing this dude.

Congratulations on completely missing the point (and getting off topic) of the thread and missing quartet's joke. Anyways...

If he didn't get demoted, why the sudden blackout? Is he really that busy?

What other games is SE making for the 360 besides FFXI?

you will know in time.

and lets hope you dont start saying stuff like me claming up some shit up.

but i know for fact there is another game coming from them.

anyway, they also said that in E3 video.they said that this is a demo from a game to be annouced for xbox 360

He wasn't quite promoted, and not demoted. The exact wording was "repositioned," which in business terms is a very polite, tactful way of saying "We moved him away from the project."

Peter Moore's your cheerleader now, Xbox fans. I somehow doubt he'll be getting the same X-TREEM MAKEOVER, though.

The only failure in this thread is your spelling and grammar.

Why would he be demoted? I thought he was the main dude in the Xbox division.

Microsoft wanted their console back.

I read an interesting suggestion in a magazine recently, that the very original Xbox crew would be "spinning in their graves", so to speak, at what is becoming of Xbox. The argument is that everything they tried to avoid with the original Xbox - basically the rest of MS getting their mitts on it an interfering - is coming to fruition on 360. I guess it was inevitable after the financial performance of the first, though, and I guess it's a matter of opinion as to whether it's a good or bad thing.

It's pretty clear that this is happening. The original team was very adamantly talking about games all the time. That all changed when Ballmer let slip about a year or so into the sales of the original that they wanted to do all that other stuff with Xbox. Somewhere around that time is when the original minds started disappearing.

As far as I can tell, Peter Moore is the only Games guy left there. Everyone else is pretty much your standard Microsoft suit, especially that main guy, Kim. Given the lackluster launch lineup, I think it's pretty clear they don't care so much about the games now, just that they continue getting marginally good stuff to keep the platform rolling forward. Internal development and publishing at MS has changed quite a lot from the first couple years of Xbox.

Would you believe... he (and his car) is now an indentured servant to Nintendo and Miyamoto works at Microsoft? Someone bust out a photoshop of Miyamoto with a hoodie/blazer.

Yes it has. It's gotten much better. They whole idea now where they want quality over quantity is working out really well. Look at some of the crap they were pushing out before him. Azurik, Bloodwake, Fusion Frenzy, Kakuto Chojin, NFL Fever, etc.

Now you look at their output and what's in the pipeline. It's quite a turn around. Halo 3, Fable 2, Project Gotham Racing 3, Mass Effect, Too Human, Gears of War, Jade Empire 2, Shadowrun, Forza Motorsport 2, etc.

MS's first party efforts are very good now a days, and I'm thankful they stopped chugging out the crud they did in the first few years of the Xbox. Lackluster launch line up? LOL, if that was lackluster most other console launches had abosulte crap for launch titles.

you have your groups mixed up.

Shane Kim runs MGS, while Peter Moore run Xbox. They are two different groups. Both report to Robbie Bach.

Internal development and publishing at MS has changed quite a lot from the first couple years of Xbox.
Because Ed Fries took some huge risks, and almost none of them paid off. Oddworld, Psychonauts, Azurik, Nightcatcher, The Unseen, TFLO, and many others were huge busts. And don't forget many games that were never offically announced that got cancelled.
MGS leaned out their porfolio, signed with some major players (Epic, Bioware) and trying to making AAA games, not shovelware. I think MGS is going to far, and not doing more stable sales games, but they have lots of money.
