What is a game you want to get into but it just doesn't click?

I really want to get into Let It Die (the first game) , its a game I should like but the past 2 attempts I have tried to play it, I just can't get into it which is unfortunate , I will give it another chance in the future though, don't want to give up yet.

FROM Software games.

I'd say Soulslike games, but I've actually really enjoyed several of them, or atleast Souslike adjacent games (Jedi Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor, Lies of P, Stellar Blade, etc..).

But FROM just never clicks with me.

Old World.

It should be a slam dunk. I'm old, I live in the world...

I've bounced off it like three times, but I keep trying. It's supposed to have the best AI in the 4X space, so I want to have a proper go at it, but its appearance to Civ, whilst being significantly different from it, is impeding my progress. My brain simply won't let go of the Civ expectation.

Astro Bot
Had the game for about 6 months and attempted to sit down and play it twice, just cannot get into it. Had a look at the PS app and accumulated less than an hour of playtime. Cutesy platformers are not really my genre but I thought I'd give it a go due to the hype surrounding it.

I might try it again over the holidays.

Guild Wars 2. On the surface, I should love many things about it. But when I sit down and play it, I just never felt it was for me. Never could get into its "dynamic events". I guess I'm too used to either GW1 or to more classic MMORPG questing.

The Outer Wilds. I have tried a few times, but I find the carrot on a stick detectice approach to be too boring. I just don't get engaged into hints written on walls and basic gameplay that feels like the default settings of generic game engine number two.

Sonic. I always disliked that you need to know the levels to run at fast speeds without bumping into things. It's counter-intuitive.

Silent Hill f

Silent Hill 2 remake was awesome, and I like Souls games. But I hit a wall of difficulty and enjoyment with SHf maybe midway through and haven't been back to it. Especially hearing that it drops off and becomes more combat focused towards the end.

Elden Ring! I don't know why but I have never had any desire to play it. I once jumped in because a bunch of friends were playing, so I wanted to get like 20-40 hours on my own. Weather they were still playing by then was secondary because I just wanted to experience the game solo, first. Bounced at 10 hours and can't remember a thing. It's clearly a brilliant game. Hopefully there is some time when I can get into it.

Rise of the Ronin, and I don't know why.

All of the elements are there for a game I should enjoy playing. Yet every time I sit down and start playing, I lose interest after a few encounters and go play (or do) something else.

I tried. MMOs are lame.

One of the biggest disappointments of the generation. Didn't take long for me to flush it. Understandable why Konami fired him.

AC Odyssey. I completed and enjoyed every AC before, but this one I couldn't get past 15 hours before getting overwhelmed by the big ass map and the ridiculous loot. But I liked the scenery and the atmosphere, how controls and combat feels, and story so far was interesting.

Ghost of Tsushima
Four hours in. Incredible setting, good story so far, stunning art design, and solid combat. I could not be more bored. It is just not clicking with me at all. I will give it another solid night of playing it, but I have a hankering to play Resident Evil 2 again for the umpteeth time. Open world games are not my bag. This is exactly how Red Dead Redemption 2 was for me too.

Soulslikes and From software titles. But more generally games with slow/heavy combat mechanics, in which I'd also so categorize stuff like Monster Hunter.

I just can't get into that stuff.

Every game I wanted to play clicked for me. That's me before but if it happens again, to save my time, I watch early walkthroughs unless it means something to me.

I had trouble getting into it back in 2016 when I played it. I keep contemplating starting the MGS series from first since I've never played any.

Dwarf Fortress: I'm fascinated by the game and I love watching YouTube videos about it, but I just can't bring myself to actually play it because it's so complex.

Planet Zoo: I would love to build large and interconnected habitats, but I'm simply not creative enough in that regard, and everything ends up as practical, basic setups that are anything but pretty.

The Last of Us: I keep hearing how great it is, and I think I've tried it at least five times, but I still only got about 3 hours in. It's just so boring and slow.

Yakuza: I only like the turn based games, but can't get into the real time combat games.

Current WoW: I always had a lot of fun with WoW in the past, but in recent years it feels like a completely different game that has totally lost its charm.

You do know that is the most successful MGS game and Konami did not fire him, seriously you have access to google why don't you just do some basic research it is not that hard

Skyrim. I just couldn't get into sword & sorcery genre.

Zenless Zone due to simplistic nature of the gameplay while having inventory system that is just too overwhelming.

I played what I played. The game fucking sucks. It also cost a shit load to make. It better be the highest selling. They shit canned his ass. Dress it up however you want.

No I don't care about your opinion about the game feel free to say whatever but to think Konami fired Kojima because they didn't like MGS V is a gap in your knowledge that could have been easily fixed with a google search

Monster Hunter. It just feels so clunky and I'm fighting the controls instead of the monsters.

The UI in this series is horrible.

Final fantasy XII

I just hate the mmo combat shit and the nodes being on the license board being hidden so that you can't plan your build on advance. I've bought the game like 4 different times hoping I could get used to it but I never do.

Red dead redemption 2, just too boring for me, tried multiple times with no success, I die of boredom after 15/20h

Bg3, used to love turn based now can't stand it, I just can't

There's a myriad of single player games I've bounced off of and tried to come back to that are highly praised I haven't yet completed but maybe sort of want to like:

Witcher 3
Half life 2
Yakuza 0
Skyrim
Zelda ToTK
Zelda Skyward Sword
GTA5

But the games I really want to get into, but can't are giant time sinks for competitive games like:
Age of Empires 2
Virtua Fighter 5
Deadlock
DOTA2
League of Legends
Escape from Tarkov

I've played all of the above and hell even have over 1000 hours in DOTA and League but never play them anymore. Not because some curse was broken or I hated them, no I loved them. They are the tightest most incredible moment to moment gameplay loops I've encountered. I could play either the rest of my life I imagine with nothing else and be fine but the sad truth is the climb is impossible for me. It's like wanting to be a basketball player but you're 4 feet tall lol. All the passion but none of the potential.

That said of those games listed above I'd love to learn and play Age2, but I'll stick to the casual mostly SP gamer life.

Death Stranding. It's fill with boring task to do. Just an boring life simulator.

Nier : Automata. I wanted to love it. Atmosphere and story looks great but the camera constantly changing and sometimes purposely obscuring part of the screen to make some boss harder was a big turn off.
Also the combat is extremely mashy.
And I find the save system confusing between the long intro without save, then a "manual" save system BUT sometimes the game still makes autosave despite telling you it's not.
