What is it with couples' synchronized Facebook posts?!

My friends wife updates his fb status for him, without his knowledge either. He logged in one day to find loads of notifications from where she logs in to his account to post pictures of their daughter and various check-ins of where they had been together. Usually she updates hers at the same time so they have sync'd status updates.

I find that kinda creepy: "look how happy we are, having days out together with our daughter. This isn't forced whatsoever".
 
My friend likes her girlfriend statuses.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, IMMEDIATELY.

I feel sad for the guy, the girl keeps him on a fucking leash.
 
You know who I hate? That asshole that keeps inviting me to play farmville 2... I asked him to stop it and he said: "you can block the messages if you go to...balblabl...". I removed him from my friends list. And yes, I know this guy in real life.

I have different friends and family than my wife. If something noteworthy happens, like my daughter reaching a milestone, we almost always end up posting very similar statuses within the same time period. Looks weird to mutual friends, but we're individual people with different contacts who wouldn't otherwise necessarily see these updates.

In the case of 'what we had for dinner' or 'we watched such and such film' statuses one usually just posts it and tags the other in it. Simple, covers all bases.
 
It's a public facade. No more, no less. They portray their marriage or relationship as heaven on Earth, but probably hate one another and are on the verge of divorce.
 
They feel a need for everyone else to see that they are happy together, I have a couple on my feed that does the exact same thing and it is very annoying.

I also used to hate when people would change their relationship status to "Married" after dating for just a few days. Luckily, now that all my friends are older, they dont do that shit anymore.
 
I got a cousin, the only one who likes or comments on his posts is his wife.
I cringe everytime i see it.

It isnt as easy as you'd have thought to actually get rid of this shit, i made a new facebook to get rid of all that shit but lets say a friend likes one of these things you dislike.. it'll show up in your feed..

Some people do it without even being married, not a fb hater or anything I fucking love my fb but yea to me social networks has gotten people to almost materialize things like love. That shit really hurts me especially when a friends specifically a female thinks that its "how its supposed to be" She didnt tell me that or anything but anytime I bring up the topic on her about it she gets overly defensive and almost in mad state of mind for thinking I was wrong for even saying it. Good thing I do not talk to her anymore but yea I think people are materializing love. It might sound crazy but whatever.

Sadly they do, these are people I was probably in high school with (or worked with once upon a time). Needless to say, about 1/3 of my friends list are on block.
 
I had to have a few strong words with my missus after she created a fake Facebook account in my name as I don't have one.

She couldn't understand why I was angry.

I hardly ever used facebook. My wife would use my account to upload pics thats it, so i decided to just make it a common account for both of us, where she uploads pics and i just check up whenever i feel like it

I think I've gathered enough data to come the conclusion that the creator of any thread complaining about Facebook, needs to obtain better friends.

Sometimes I think I must have stumbled upon Facebook gold edition in which the people on my news feed post generally quite entertaining/cool/non-intrusive stuff.

Nope, she just browses my barren wasteland of a Facebook page while we're snuggled up in bed and we giggle together at the increasingly depressing images being posted.

Although, it's Dr. Who time, so a lot of my friends are posting Dr. Who related images.
 
My guilty pleasure is finding open Facebook profiles and following their life. The saddest was this one regular/ok looking bloke who lived far, far in the Finnish countryside with his seriously obese gf. The only people that would comment or like their statuses would be each other. Their life had a very slow pace and the most eventful thing they'd post about in over a year was how the guy went to play some hockey with a couple of other guys in the village one Saturday afternoon. She obviously liked the update, even if nobody else did. I felt like crying a little, it was both so sad and so beautiful.
 
I suppose it's not too far fetched to presume the hostile responses in this thread are the people who actually do this? It's not that big of a deal but it is a little weird.

It's not surprising that FaceBook does everything it can to permit this type of behavior. In general you might have noticed a trend on dating-oriented sites like FaceBook from moving to being solely focused on single people meeting each other to being more focused on cataloging an established couple's relationship. There are also a lot of new-ish mobile device apps that do the same thing. A digital scrap book of sorts.

Maybe they realized that once people got into a long term relationship they stopped using FB/social media as much and wanted a way to keep those people engaged so they wouldn't delete their FB or other social website accounts (that's how it was for me after I got married). This was likely part of the rational for forcing everyone to move to the new FaceBook timeline format. "Hey look! It's your whole life! On FaceBook! You can't leave after you've put so much into it :("

My wife doesn't do this, except for saying happy birthday or tose other occasional greetings. "I just said happy birthday on Facebook, you have to say it now too!" haha

It's a minor thing, so as silly as it is, I don't mind. I'd probably be irritated if she wanted us to do things more along the lines of what is in the OP, though.
