What is the appeal of chihuahuas?

They're a versitile dog, you can:

use them as pool cue protectors
buff your shoes with them
hollow them out and turn them in to a pencil case.

i feel like they're easier to maintain and take care of, more energetic and they'd be good lookouts/watch dogs and sound the alarm for intruders. then when they sound the alarm a larger more beefy guard dog with muscle can get to work. so tag team between a smaller watch dog and larger guard dog would be a good combination to have and plus they can keep each other company and play around. a small as$ chihuahua, then a medium sized dog with a lil more muscle and a larger beefy dog thats all mas$, but is slower would probably be the best combo

Yeah I don't get it either.
If you are going for a higher maintenance pet like a Dog at least get one that isn't some angry overgrown trembling rat.

I shared your opinion about these things.

I have since landed in the custody eg rescued one and have lived with if for a year.

It isn't ugly.
It is one fo the deer head ones and not the tiny ones. So its is about 10lbs.
It is not dumb.
It has a funny temperament. She thinks she is huge and is a bit insecure but also a sweet heart.
Of course it's cold its from the desert. You need to put a sweater on it and they stay warm. Otherwise they will burrow and cuddle into your bed.

They were historically bred as guards and food.

Are chihuahuas man-made?
Every recognizable breed of dog (or other domesticized animal) is man-made, and requires concerted effort to keep the bloodlines pure. There's probably several types of Chihuahua, but a lot of people want the tiny ones. Little do they know that often times Chihuahuas' brains are too big to fit inside their small skulls, leaving them with constant, never-ending headaches. Other breeds of dogs have difficulty breathing due to their short snout and/or small nose. Others have difficulty eating due to their misshapen mouths.

It is my opinion that maintaining dog breeds is unethical, and if one claims to care about their future puppy, they must buy a mixed-breed that doesn't suffer from these issues.

They are good guardians and can take a bullet despite their size.

These cops are like those security robots you see in movies that get outsmarted by the protagonists, because robots don't understand context or anything beyound simple directives.

I have larger 7yr old, supposedly Chihuahua x mini Pincher mix that we adopted from rescue center. Unlike other Chipins - she's got really short legs, so she kinda looks more like a Dachshund. (and about that size too), chewed off ears & tails, with balding back fur that our vets couldn't really figure out why. Definitely wasn't my choice - my daughter loves her. However I'm the one who's taking care of her most of the time, as she sees me as the master, not my daughter.

She's the most timid dog ever - scared of everything and everywhere. Yelps at slight discomfort - I think she has some trauma or sort from pup days... (seeing from that tattered ears and tails) Doesn't like to go out for walk, sits/sleeps in sunshine all day long with loud snore. She's one of the most silly dog out there - with great ability of only hearing/obeying you when she wants to. (She does all kind of tricks when she wants her treats, but not when there's no food involved) - and she is really a great pretender of not understanding what I'm telling her. I've grown attached somewhat, and probably be pretty sad when she's gone.

Dunno man, all these small sized dog breeds feel like they suffer from inferiority complex or something. It's like it isn't natural for a canine to be so tiny that a big squirrel would probably beat it in a fight. Would any of these small dog breeds exist in nature?. So i get why so many of them are pissed. I know i would be.

They're small and women think they're cute. Same reason why pugs and bulldogs are so popular despite the serious risk of them having serious health issues.

You know you're getting old when you had to spend some time figuring out how to share images on a forum.

Which one is the coon dog? I presume that's raccoon lol, never seen one before, I'm sure they're called something different over here.

Either way awesome pups. I have staffie myself, I'll always go with the bully breed, I honestly don't think there's a better breed, but that's a biased opinion of course

The puppy is a Bluetick Coonhound. Yes, it's short for racoon. They are an American breed, bred to pack hunt and tree racoon for the fur trade back in the day. There are a few similar breeds. American English Coonhound (also called a Redtick), Treeing Walker Coonhound, Redbone Coonhound, Black and Tan Coonhound and a few others. They have a very VERY unique bark! My wife and I are hound addicts. Our last dog who passed away last year was a dachshund.

Staffie's are so cute. I almost got a Bull Terrier. They're the cutest!

I don’t see the point of any tiny dog, but you get what you like, we all have our opinions. Regardless, its German Shepherds or nothing in my family.
