But on the topic of "bragging". Is there a monetary value where sharing a life experience becomes boastful?

If someone posted a thread asking people about their best vacation and then talked about their fantastic vacation to Disneyland - how is that different then talking about their fantastic vacation to Dubai? or made a thread about their $30 Italian takeout vs eating at some Michelin-level restaurant. All of those things are great things and it's fun to hear about the things people enjoy!
Why is it frowned upon to share some of my life experiences because some of them may be expensive? I'm able to afford those because I don't spend much on a lot of things - I don't spend thousands on video games, I don't have a car, I'll eat on the cheap when not going to nice restaurants, I don't save for retirement, I use the fantastic Ikea brand for a lot of my furniture, etc. I just have different priorities and focus my money on great life experiences and it's fun to share them with people and also see what great life experiences others have had. This thread was fun hearing a lot of the cool things people have done like flown in private jets, met presidents, been to F1 race, etc.
I declined free trips to Vietnam and Singapore and chose to instead pay for a trip to rural Massachusetts.
Haha what series of events led to this?
Montreal suburbs. It's affordable so my life isn't miserable, but I've always felt the wealth gap. My neighbourhood is working class with a high unemployment rate, but there's a golf course for the local rich and an upscale mall within 1 km of my building so I'm always reminded of socioeconomics. My goal in life is simply being middle class and helping my mom on welfare and I'm doing well so far. One day I might eat at a restaurant that costs more than $25 per person!
I just had a 2 week vacation trip planned ahead of time with some other people--and then the last couple of weeks I find out my company wants me to go to some separate business meetings in Vietnam and Singapore at the same time frame.

The hand massage thing I can understand but it seems silly to refuse an oshibori offered to you. It's very common to start a meal with one.
Some Dubai deserts for you to appreciate![]()
18 years ago, a few buddies and I took a trip to France. We did the typically tourist spots: Eiffel Tower, the Louvre,
Notre Dame, moulin rouge, etc.
The most memorable spot, though, was the Palace of Versailles. We toured the entire grounds and by the end of the day, my friends and I were getting a bit restless. Jim was such a fucking asshole and kept arm-punching each of us (there were 4) to see who would swing back. We all just took it because we didn't want to cause a scene, especially in the Hall of Mirrors. Eventually, Keith had enough and sucker punched Jim right in the kidney. Jim stumbled forward, lost his balance and pushed me right into a mirror. I closed my eyes and braced for impact, but instead of hitting the unavoidable mirror panel, I found myself on the floor.
I looked around and everyone was gone.. Jim, Keith, Michael, the entire tour group had vanished. I looked out the window and saw a number of carriages circling the drive. I glanced down at my Nokia 6120 and saw the date: June 21, 1788! I heard a number of footsteps approaching the hall so I dove into a side room. It was dark but a thick perfume permeated the blackness. Suddenly a flame appeared and illuminated the source: Marie Fucking Antoinette! She then proceeded to give me a whale-blubber handjob. That is probably the second most opulent thing I've ever experienced.

I don't believe so, but then again I don't get jealous too easily.
Posting about your holiday isn't boastful, and I don't believe anyone who can really talk on the matter is saying otherwise.
I mean, someone's basic holiday is always someone else's dream, so what's the point. You've shared many amazing images and stories, and it's not like we all don't follow celebrities that can make your holiday look like a 2 star motel. *shrugs*
Really sad this closed down before I got visit.
When will GAF stop crucifying the rich? Disgusting all around

No one is crucifying the rich.Agreed, I worked my ass off to get to where I am with my career and the money I have made from it. I am going to damn well enjoy reaping the benefits I have sowed.
