We had a Swedish Au Pair that brought over like, the really dope shit. She'll still send it in boxes sometimes for Christmas. I forget the name because, like, Swedish. Sorry >_<

The only bars Lindt makes in the US over 70% are 85% and 90% and they are nasty. The more cacao you have the less fat and sugar you have so with something like 85% or 90% you get something very dry and powdery that's as bitter as coffee.

There are actually tons of great Swiss chocolate brands. I find it sad that only Lindt ever gets mentioned.

I prefer Cailler or Camille Bloch chocolate for example. Ragusa bars by C.Bloch are heaven.

I'm not saying there no other brands or Lindt is the best ever, but Lindt is commonly available at most supermarkets throughout the US (where the OP lives) whereas the brands you mention are not. Also Lindt is pretty affordable for the quality; a bar running around $2-3.

I am in Canada actually.

Godiva is the beats headphones of chocolate. Also you're not going to be able to buy "the world's best chocolate" at the corner drug store or gas station ( where you can buy Godiva )

This is truth^

As far as I'm concerned, the best chocolate made in the US is Ghiraldelli--it's made in SF and they have a whole restaurant/desert place/chocolate factory there that has some amazing chocolate deserts. You can order it online as well.

This thread makes me hate my chocolate allergy. I can only eat a small, very small amount. More than a gram makes me sick.

I wish Bellagio sold their chocolates online. Everything tastes like crap after I ate their chocolate cakes.

I literally flew to Brussels to try chocolate and waffles. The chocolate was good but it's not that much better than something more easily attainable. You can even buy from them online http://www.neuhaus-online-store.com/chocolate-store-en.htm

Hope you tried our beer too. And real french fries.

Best chocolates you get in non chain chocolatiers over here. Some of them concider their chocolate art. I ate the bedt freakin pralines recently from a guy like that. Don't remember the nzle though (someone brought them to work as goodbye gift)

Allthough we are known for chocolate, belgians themselve don't have a big chocolate eating culture (not where i'm from anyway). We buy pralines as gifts mostly. It's different with our beers and fries. Chocolates and waffles are third and fourth place on the proud meter i guess

I wish I had tried the fries fried in beef fat/broth. Maybe I'll fly out for another day trip.

Lake Champlain chocolates are really good and you can get them shipped in the US. Super expensive though. Some supermarkets sell it I think.

I'm a big fan of Dove dark chocolate. I worked in the chocolate industry for a while and went through training where we tasted multiple chocolates to each other. To me the smoothness and balance of flavors in the Dove chocolate beat out chocolates from Lindt and others. Dove's milk chocolate is pretty good too (it is the highest rated chocolate from America's Test kitchen) but I'm more of a dark chocolate fan.

I used to work for this guy for a few months, I thought his chocolate was awesome, not sure if it's the best in the world but it's definitely my favorite right now. And he does ship, I'm not sure if his website lets you order from it yet because my internet is shitting out.

Love Royce chocolate. Pretty sure you can only buy it in the US from one store in NYC. Multiple boxes are always on my shopping list whenever I travel to Asia.

Royce is pretty much the best chocolate in the world. It's always depressing how few people know about it when these threads come up but in their defence Royce have shit global presence, we can't even buy it in Australia I'm constantly asking travelling friends and colleagues to hook me up.

Lindt is good. But yeah as people have mentioned, chocolate from a ln actual chocolatelier in belgium is amazing.

I am no chocolate expert but I bet the best chocolates in the world are probably made by local chocolatiers around Europe that aren't heavily advertised in mainstream media.

I love dark chocolate. You guys saying don't go over 70% make me sad. I've had 90%+ bars that taste great, and pair excellently with a nice cup of black coffee.

If we are talking only high sugar bars, I like a bunch of stuff from Cadbury. Flake is great. Cadbury creme eggs are a guilty pleasure. And crunchie is an orgy of flavor, one of my favorite candies.

I have no idea how that would taste like..From my experience dark dark chocolate tastes so much like coffee + black coffee...idk XD

I suppose its up to taste but I probably can't stomach anything like this :/

When you get to very high percentages of cocoa, chocolate can begin to taste chalky. The bitterness does not bother me, but I prefer creamier textures to the dry crumbiness that some very dark chocolates offer. Thankfully, they aren't all like that.

I don't discriminate. I love the whole range of chocolate and it remains the one leak in an otherwise sturdy hull of a diet.

I get these sometimes and dip them in this, and just savor the melted chocolate as it coats my tongue. Swirl it my mouth, let it flow over every tastebud. It is incredible.

Tasting these is the closest I have come to believing in god

People are going to dislike this answer, but I absolutely love the taste of Hershey's chocolate. Including the "almost like vomit" aftertaste that people complain about. You can buy them online easily. Cheap too.

Butterfingers are pretty awesome.

On a more serious note, Lindt for "grocery store chocolate". Besides that, I'm not too familiar with fancy chocolate brands.

on paper, this looks incredibly appealing.I haven't really tried that before but it could be nice if a little too extreme for me xD

This is 100% WRONG, as the 85% or whatever INCLUDES the fat content. In fact MORE than half of that 85% is fat.

edit: it is actually more than half fat. In fact by weight it can be over 60% fat.
