Some canadian book about a Mario spoof and they go into the game cartridge and there were some aliens in there, and no one was surprised that millions of cartridges melted while this happened.

indeed, it was as though Rand was possesed with a definate article demon. I think there were 5 sentences in total that didn't start with the word "the". Not to mention the whole freemarket capitalism is the answer to all societies woes, thing.

Yeah, this is a true "love it or hate it" book. I just happened to love it.

As for my worst, Tick Tock by Dean Koontz was pretty bad, although I challenge anyone to insult his best novels.

The Devil and Sonny Liston is the worst book I have read in recent memory. Its less a biography of Sonny Liston then it is a tough talking muddled commentary on crime and racism in society during Sonny's era. I stopped reading when the author said that Marciano/Moore was a worked fight, claiming Archie Moore threw the fight. Archie Moore, the same guy who lived years and years in obscurity when he could have been a champion if he had consented to mob rule. One of the most grueling fights of the 50s. Terrible accusation by a guy who probably never saw the fight.

Believe it or not, I loved Pride and Prejudice. Austin's writing style is awesome.

Really? In high school I had to read two of her books, and I couldn't stand either of them.

:lol :lol :lol :lol Diablos, we agree on something =p

that new Splinter Cell book.

Didn't realize til after I bought it that Clancy didn't write it, but that since he whored his name to Ubisoft for the video game rights, they just sold the rights to some guy for the book. so it was "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" by some-dumb-fuck.

Mega Man 2. If you can imagine a book based on an 8-bit video game, leaving nothing to the imagination...

I was actually going to come in this thread, and write how horrible this book was, but you summed it up pretty well...

It was actually called Mega Man 2 (Worlds of Power) :lol :lol :lol :lol

Was it Kevin J. Anderson? :p

Anyways, to get the really bad stuff you have to go into self-published work. I once read a self-published book about a woman who finds a Bigfoot and has an affair with him. I read it only because someone told me it was so bad, and I couldn't read much of it. It was absolutely hilarious though.

Yeah, I had to read Pride and Prejudice and never got very far. Spark Notes got me a good enough grade on the test. I don't know if the book was really bad or if I just didn't want to read it. Maybe I'll give it another chance now that it would be for my own enjoyment.

The Awakening, or Tess of the d'Ubervilles.

I fucking hate Victorain morality tales. Each time I read one of these, I wanted to either beat my head into the table or fall asleep. Thank God for Cliff Note's is all I have to say about those two.

Man, isn't it weird that you go through like a set time you are supposed to read a given book, and you never do, so you decide to just use Spark Notes. But than after everything related to the book is done with and over (essays, tests, projects) you decide to read it in your free time? Happened to me on like every book we needed to read during high school. :lol

The Sword of Truth, or maybe it was just in the Sword of Truth series. By a Terry something. The book sucked hardcore, but I read it anyway.

It had this weird plot twist, or plot redirection where the main hero get's captured by sadists amozian type women and......I really shouldn't go on. It's too retarded.

Anyone who said "Wuthering Heights" is WRONG!!!!

In any event worse book? Pick any of the damn "Wheel of Time" novels out of a hat and there you go.

Not surprised Mega Man 2 the book sucked ass... but amazimgly Blaster Master the book (yes based on the 8-bit NES game) was awesome! Although I was in 3rd grade when I read it, but it made me the man I am today.

I dont get around to reading very many novels as I am a very slow reader, but I'll pretend to be cool and jump on the MM2 hating bandwagon

There are whole series of books that use Tom Clancy's name but are written by different people. The Splinter Cell book isn't the first to do this at all. There's Tom Clancy's Op Center, Tom Clancy's Net Force, Tom Clancy's Net Force for Young Adults, etc. Clancy has been whoring out his name long before UbiSoft came along, after all he has to support that drinking habit of his.

To expand on this. Don't read anything by Clancy himself. Ugh. That clancy plot generator on Maddox's website is so accurate.

I wont say it's the worst, but the one I hated the most was The Awakening by Kate Chopin.

Ha, I had a feeling that would be listed here. I read that book in AP English Lit my Sr. year in HS. I can see how it must've been revelatory for its time, but...as it is now, it just seems utterly boring and predictable. Blah.

I've read a lot of crap, but in recent memory the one book that I actually bought, read, and just hated myself for ever reading was The Rule of Four. If you find yourself looking at this in the bookstore thinking "Hmm, maybe this will be sort of like The DaVinci Code," well, that's what they WANT you to think. Put it down, back away slowly, then break into a run.

The worst books I've read recently was the continuation of the Willow saga; Shadow Moon, Shadow Star, Shadow Something or other. I didn't even read the last book because the first two annoyed the hell out of me.

Oh, gawd... far too many to list! =PpP I'd say the most recent one though would have to be Clinton's memoires.

Haha, I'm actually a huge Clancy fan. If you really want a pulse-pounding book, you've gotta read The Bear and the Dragon.

Although, I'm a poli sci major, so my opinion is sure to be far more skewed than most peoples'.

I couldn't read Catcher in the Rye. Boring and pointless book.

Don Quixote was okay, but it was really... REALLY slow. And when i looked at the length after getting through several chapters I realised I had no interest in finishing it.

"classics" are overrated.

Ever since his characters became neocon militant jackasses I can't stand any of his books. The world of his earlier work had more of a grey area.

Not to mention, Jack Ryan, the president? Fuck that.

You didn't just miss the point, the point wanted nothing to do with you.
