Pc is popular because it has all kind of different games. MMO is one of the popular genre for pc.

Would you like Sony to make MMO based game?

Not really my preferred genre, but if it has a cool world and interesting story like FFXIV and there's no monthly fee (besides Ps+) I'd give it a try

Go ahead, I dont care about the genre anymore. The old ones had so much charm and fun oozing out of them no wonder they became a huge deal. They were also not easy to play and grinding was fucking worth it. Modern MMOs though are soulles cash grabs, with difficulty that even a toddler can manage which makes the whole experience a boring job rather than something to achieve. Basically fuck modern MMO's, they're all garbage tier.

They already have SOE doing that, so I'd rather SIE do other things.

Edit: I guess SOE was sold and is no longer part of Sony. Had no idea, lol. But yeah, I don't want Sony to spend time and resources on this stuff, as it doesn't interest me at all.

Sure, I'd like to see some kind of official MMO effort from any of the three console makers.

They could get some good traction I think being tied to the brands. Kind of like New World tied to Amazon.

SOE was part of Sony Pictures for like 95% of its existence. At the end of its life SPE sold it off to SCEA. Then they got sold to the Russians and became Daybreak Games and Daybreak owns and retains the EQ IP now.

Everything except another cinematic 3rd person action adventure is welcome. I think a MMO lite could work on consoles.

i wouldn't be interested (even though i like MMOs) but good for them if they want to do it. i don't think there are any of their games that would suit an MMO. they tend to work best for games that have a lot of interesting characters and lore.

we have Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, Star Wars, Star Trek, LOTR. I think Riot are working on an MMORPG based on LOL which is perfect game to build a MMORPG world from. Overwatch i think was originally intended to be a new MMORPG called Titan and i would've loved an MMO with OW characters/lore.

It's depends of which studio make this game. If a first party studio do it, it would be disappointing, because we would loose the opportunity to play a single player game. But if they find the right partner, like they did with Haven / Firewalk, I totally agree, even if I won't play this game.

Diversity is always great.

Is this a joke thread??? Are we so old? I mean... freaking everquest, so many memories... sigh... now i feel old...

What's an MMO-lite? We've already had several MMOs on consoles, such as Everquest, Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV.
I always think of WOW when it comes to MMO and so i mean something epic like World of Warcraft but not that complex (without Macros, addons, too many skills etc,)

That would be interesting to see from any of the big 3.

As people have said, Sony (through SOE) used to make MMOs.

Microsoft was working on an Marvel MMO during the lead up to the 360. That was cancelled, and the developer (Cryptic Studios) took the work they did and turned it into Champions Online.

They did but that was ages ago for Sony. I honestly barely even remember them. From what I understand they made everquest? I haven't heard that name in a long, long time.

Playstation home is highly undertated, and everquest is literally one of the godfathers of the genre, before they let that division go sadly.

DC universe was also pretty fun.

No, what I really want to see is Sony make first party JRPG like they used to, Nintendo has their own first party studio like Monolith Soft making JRPG for them why cant Sony?

They have the most popular MMO exclusive to their console right now.

Jade Raymonds game seems like it's gonna be the MMO-LITE/Minecraft type game for sony

Xbox owns Elder Scrolls Online now.

I'm convinced now that the knowledge on how to make proper mmorpgs is some serious lostech. After trying so many, I've been bored to tears and never found one that even compared to the social communities in gw2, and now that game is dated and ran by lazy devs

I tried BDO, New World, Final Fantasy, and WoW. I felt the boredom of repetitive tasks every time. Now that I'm in my 30s I ain't got time to grind to reach actual content. Fuck that shit lol. I think I'm closing the book on mmorpgs. It's so much more fun to play multiplayer games where you can just jump right into pvp and action instead of cutting 10,000 trees so you can craft a fucking pair of boots. Dumb dumb dumb.

DC universe was also pretty fun.

DC Universe is still running on both PS4 and Xbox.

The funny thing is they wanted to port it to Xbox at launch, and being under Sony Pictures they technically could've. But then the SCEA thing happened and the Xbox port was put on ice until they were sold to the Russians.

I don't see myself playing any mmo anymore. This genre is for people who like to commit to this type of game. It also takes time.

I usually put around 5-10 to gaming weekly. I would get nowhere playing this genre ..
