currently playing this awesome gem. Shame there is no official english release

does anyone know how to turn on the english options in the japanese options menu ?

Awesome. Have you applied the English patch c/o LegaiaRules and them other awesome chaps? If you haven't then you should. If you have, then I don't think you need to do any settings tweaking, you just run it and everything's already in english (sans voices)

how do I do that ? I read somewhere that you could go to the options menu in japanese and just switch some things in english .

The english patch is something you apply to the iso, so it's either chipped console or emulator only. The fan translation project and relevant files are easily searched online. There's even a patch that modifies your hangar to sell high-end gear otherwise unpurchaseable, but that's another matter altogether.

As for leaving things untouched and switching some things in the options, I'm afraid I can't help you with that, no idea what it is.

Just finished Fate/Extra! I liked it, but I feel that someone not familiar with Type Moon's universe and workings might not enjoy it as much.

Battle system was simple and enjoyable, the story was pretty good and I'd really like to see more.
CCC? Aksys? Any news?

I was shocked to learn of Red Saber's true identity though.
I was completely conviced she was Joan of Arc by reading the bits about headaches and other small details, like the fact that she liked acting and singing, but Emperor Nero?? That was completely unexpected!

Playing Xenoblade right now... damn this game is long. Rented it from gamefly have had it for months now since i get distracted like 60+ hours in but seems like I still have a lot more to go.

Amazing game but man too many side quests distract a lot and they are not that interesting.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.
I've taken breaks from this game several times, but this time, I intend to finish it. I'm on chapter 3, helping a librarian finding unreturned books and Tita joined my party. I said it once and I'll say it again: It's a shem you don't always have four active characters, because that is when the combat system is the most fun.
The story is okay, but it sometimes drags on. Lots of dialouge, mostly entertaining. Experimenting to get new skills is also fun. It's a shame the sequels haven't been translated and probably that is the biggest reason why it has been so easy to stop playing this for months.

Blue Dragon.
Some say that Lost Odyssey could pass for FFXIII and I'd almost agree. Blue Dragon's battle system and world map combined with everything else from Lost Odyssey would have been an awesome FFXIII.
I'm currently at the Ancient Hospital, so I'm still very early in the game. I might not go extatic over the story, and the camera plus blurryness might annoy me, but other than that, I am having fun. Turn based combat automatically makes me a believer. A job system makes me addicted. I have unlocked two new classes for each character, liking the ones that have a charge meter, means I have to actually be involved. Monster battles is also a neat idea I think I'd like to see in more games. So far, I don't have any major complaints. Another big one that I haven't mentioned yet would have to be enemy design. One of the games' weakest points so far.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros
My first M&L game. Handholding aside, I'm enjoying it. I love the audio in this game. Music is catchy, I keep jumping everywhere because I love the jump sound and everytime M & L speaks, it cracks me up.
Battles keep the player on his toes with the timed button presses. The Dream stages have been really fun, too.

Still DQVIII.Angelo has just joined my party and as always i'm in love with exploring its world.I'm taking my time with it...there are so many things i missed on my first walkthrough.

I'm currently playing Megaten 4, but I also have Etrian Oddesy Millenium Girl sat unplayed. >_<

and I also have Super Robot Wars UX, Project X Zone and Bravely Defualt still to fully finish.

Dark Souls.

This game is slowly taking over my life. I've played it for about 4 hours each day, for the past few days D:

I don't think I have ever played a game this much. Granted most of it was spent running around and grinding so I suspect if I do replay it, I could probably play a much lower frequency.

Next entry in the BoF franchise playthrough, installment #3.

6hours in the prolonged prologue, so not quite feeling it at this stage. I really have question Capcom's choice of composers for this series. BoF2 was straight up abominable, and BoF3's lounge music really feels out of place.

Nothing starts off a grand adventure like a world map theme like this.

Dragon Fantasy on the Vita. I really don't recommend it. Apparently this single party member chapter is the longest segment in the game and I'm just about to give up. It's the antithesis of fun. I'm just pressing A to attack and making sure I heal myself after a battle at this point.

I like the eight bit aesthetic, but that's just about it.

Finished Ys Oath to Felghana on PSP, what a wonderful game. Excellent music and fantastic gameplay, with a surprisingly well thought out battle system. A lot of fun bosses.

The warping mechanic is probably the most convenient and well executed in any game I've played yet.

An easy 10/10

Playing Arc the Lad 2 now and so far so good, digging the retro look and music. The localization is really nice, fun translation.

Xenoblade, 65 hours in and I
just arrived on Mekonis
.
Feels like there is still a ton of things to do, plus all the sidequests and the
reconstruction of the colony 6
... I'm not done, and I love it !

Glory of Heracles (DS).

It isn't a top-tier game, but that's part of its charm, IMO. It reminds me of a solid, enjoyable JRPG from the PS1 era that really hits the JRPG spot, even if it isn't remarkable.

This post reminded me that I still haven't played this game, at all, ever. I believe i even own it. Time to unpack/dust off the Wii methinks.

I own a copy of Skies of Arcadia Legends... and it won't play. It has a small scratch in a bad place. Paid like $30+ for it, too.

I've been needing to get it resurfaced for the longest time, but I don't know of any place that still does that for GameCube discs :(

Denpa Men II. They fixed so much stuff in the sequel to this game, it's nuts. The only thing that is still legitimately sort of stupid-difficult / glitchy is the encounter rate.

-Money is easy to come by now via the fishing system. You can fish for 30 minutes and get enough gold to easily equip all 8 of your main guys with the most baller of equipment.
-The "streetpass" dungeon system allows you to grind out refilling chests. If you exploit it a bit, you can "grind" (walk through a dungeon) with refillable chests as much as you need to, over and over. The "streetpass" bit is because you likely won't be actually streetpassing with anyone through DM2, and it doesn't really matter if you do or not.
-There's a world map, and fast travel. This coupled with the ability to warp out of dungeons at any point (and return to that exact point) make grinding much less forced.
-QR codes are still in, which means you can get good party members even if you don't want to explore outside.

If they fixed the encounter system, this game would be almost perfect. Even with it in, it's still the best traditional JRPG I've played in a long, long time. (The encounter system is kind of glitchy, right now. You run into enemies on the overworld/dungeon and get teleported to a battle. The enemies seem to reset after every battle, so you'll occasionally get the scenario of enemies spawning on top of you right after you just got done fighting some. It's not terribly prevalent.)

Just finished the amazing Trails in the Sky. While I wait patiently for XSEED to localize the even better sequel, I'm playing through Phantasy Star IV.

I'm impressed overall just how much it improved on everything in the series.
  • Most developed cast of characters
  • Best, most balanced combat system
  • An arguably more engaging plot
  • Takes some of the best features from previous installments
  • It's harder to get lost in dungeons

My biggest gripe with it is the fact that characters leave the party unlike PS I and II.
Alys being the most tragic example.

I'm also playing through Phantasy Star IV for the first time since 1998 and its just as incredible as it was back then.

I'm currently playing through Persona 3. It's my first persona game and after 70 hours I'm still enjoying it.

I also picked up The Last Remnant on Steam, but I haven't tried it yet. I heard it was pretty difficult so I decided to check it out myself.

I'm technically still playing Dream Team Bros., but to be honest I doubt that I'll actually go back to it. I'm also in the middle of a Xenogears playthrough. For some insane reason I got the idea to replay the whole Xeno saga (with the exception of Xenoblade).

In order of which they were started : EO4, PxZ and SMT4

In the order which I plan to finish them : SMT4, PxZ, EO4

I actually appreciate that EO4 has little to no story (same thing with PxZ to an extent) since I can kinda put them down and pick them up whenever.

SMT4 has me hooked though and I will no doubt finish that within a week or so. (logged 9 hours yesterday, too much wrist trauma lol)

I finished FFXIII - don't understand the hate for it, and have started XB Chronicles on Dolphin. So far, am loving Chronicles...

Finished FFIII DS. I feel like the final hours drove a lot of FF-only rpg fans crazy, ahah.

Now I still feel in the mood for some Job System, I heard Advance Tactics 2 is really an improvement over the GBA Original and FFT, gameplay-wise. I'll give it a try, assuming I can stand the story and art-style.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth

One of the best jRPGs I have ever played; after more than a decade, the gameplay and overworld mechanism is still fresh, such ingeniousness.

Currently:
Final Fantasy XII IZJS and Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions.

Two of my favorite games of all time, I just always find myself going back to them regardless of whatever else I am playing.

Currently playing through SMT IV as my main game, with tons of others in the wings just waiting to be played. Most of these are SMT/Persona games too.

I started playing Ni No Kuni yesterday.

Ni Nu Kuni Is AMAZING! The most Charming game I have played in awhile.

Currently I am in the middle of a replay of FFXII(Wanted to play X but have to wait for HD)

Also in the middle of a Dragon Quest VIII.

When I am done with those I will be starting Xenoblade!

I'm still playing Final Fantasy IX on the Vita and I actually busted out Enchanted Arms since I never finished it. Started from the beginning and while it's showing its age and was never a great game to begin with it's still charming in its own way.

Bought a used Xbox 360 Slim to play some JRPG's that stayed exclusive to the console. Got:

Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey
Tales of Vesperia

Almost done blue dragon.

welp. I kinda stopped playing FM5 because I wanted to play other JRPGs .

so far I'm currently playing

Resubbed to this because I'm currently hyped up for ff14
Final-Fantasy-11-Seekers-of-Adoulin-Box-Art.jpg

International version of course; galaxy difficulty . Don't think I'll play this on higher difficulties .

Going through Xenogears again, and man, my memories didn't do this game justice. It is sooo good. There's nothing like it.

First hour of SMT IV. The gameplay is boring, as I expected, but the intrigue behind the story is compelling. Are they in a computer simulation?
