what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Chrono Trigger.

I had never played the game before. I found a SNES copy at a Vintage Stock and couldn't resist picking it up. I'm enjoying it so far, though I'm not a huge fan of the character designs. I honestly don't like Akira Toriyama's art outside Dragon Ball.

Enchanted Arms. Got Oblivion during launch instead of Enchanted Arms.

Now I get to enjoy it for what it is, with all of it's flaws, it has it's character, and I like games with character...

Currently playing Shin Megami Tensei IV, 15hrs in and loving it soooo much.

I already have Disgaea 4 and Valkyria Chronicles that I still need to play and there's a bunch more coming out that I wanna get (Tales of Xillia, FF X/X-2HD, Tales of Symphonia HD), it just takes me so long to finish them with my somewhat limited amount of free time.

Not that I'm complaining, the huge number of 3DS and PS3 games (from all genres) that I still need to play is what's gonna keep me from needing to buy a PS4 for at least 2 years. Starting with PS2 when I was 18 I've bought every console and most handhelds on launch day, but at this point it just seems like it would be a waste for me to jump to the next gen...yet.

About 15 hours into Arc the Lad 2 now.

Still enjoying it, very old school and fun.

Really like how the progression is a little different in that instead of just getting a team and playing through with it, you get a team but at one point they start going separate ways and you play from each of their perspectives separately. They even meet new people to partner up with on their own and everything.

And gotta say, the way they incorporated the cast from the first game with the new cast of the second game is really nice.

Closest thing that counts right now is Project X Zone. After that I think I'm going to have choice paralysis...I'm getting Tales of Xillia when that comes out and I also got SMT4 when that came out. Trouble is that playing Project X Zone has started making me want to play Xenosaga III, which I picked up when it came out years ago but still have not managed to get around to (still sealed, in fact). So it looks like a have a tough decision ahead...

I've been playing Final Fantasy 7 for the first time ( been playing it on and off for some months ).

Honestly I'm not really digging it. I just don't really like the world in this, I also feel like the game is very very slow in some parts that are not very interesting.

Is it possible that I will like FF 9 ? I prefer fantasy settings generally, and FF9 just seems to have a nice charm about it.

Started playing Chrono Trigger too. I actually played it years ago, but somehow got stuck at the very end and never finished it.

Definitely give 9 a shot, great world and characters.

Resonance of Fate on my PS3 and this game is murdering me. I'm at the snow area with the bridges and everything is at level 17 and I'm still at level 12. :( I'm getting destroyed. Gonna have to go back and grind.

On my 3DS, I'm playing SMT4. This game is brilliant, probably my favorite game of the year so far beating out Fire Emblem Awakening.

On my Vita, P4G for like the second time. Trying to max social links on the hardest difficulty.

3 JRPG's at once. I have to much time.

Replaying Blue Dragon for the Nth time. I love this game so much. Many times later, I still can't help myself examining every object in the game. I need my Nothings. (._. ) This time, my Nothing count upon my first encounter with the Nothing Man:

which I think is very close to how many you can possibly have at that point (excluding the ones in the castle, which I hadn't gone to get yet). Feels good to get good rewards right away.

The battle system and encounter system still blow me away with their depth. Sure, if you play on normal, you won't be required to really take advantage, but it's another story on hard, and the systems are so well-thought-out. I just love being able to blow away an enemy's shield, knock a turtle onto his back, soften some hard poo with water (...) to make his defense lower, etc. And monster fighting and chain bonuses are so rad. Taking down a particularly strong monster by luring one of its enemies into the same battle so they fight each other while you whittle the strong one down feels great. And it's astonishing to me how good the game looks. A 2006 game is still, at least in my eyes, one of the prettiest games on the market. And it's by a Japanese studio for Xbox 360.

Also, it's kinda weird how closely some of the music in the game mimics FF9. I guess Uematsu was still in that frame of mind. For example, Mysterious Village.

Bonus image, my favorite room in the game. <3

It's funny that you mentioned FFIX. I'm playing this for the first time, 13 hours in so far and I've been reminded of FFIX's music more than once. Even my brother mentioned it when he was in the same room while I was playing. This is the Tales of Graces f of turn based game for this generation.

Still playing Xenogears. Also Ragnorak Odyssey (completed chapter 4-4) and Soul Sacrifice (completed Fading Humanity chapter) on the vita if they count too.

Final Fantasy Dimensions.

Pretty good. Takes me back to the old days. The auto-battle feature makes it fun. Without it, it would be too much a chore.

Playing Shin Megami Tensei 4 the most right now. Loving every minute of it.

I'm also busying myself with Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (DS). You can find it for $5 used at GameStop!

Been casually playing The Denpa Men 2 and Defenders of Oasis too. Should get back into Dragon's Dogma.

Dropped Jeanne D'Arc :(

I got stuck in one of the first missions, tried it 4 times then gave up :/
I'll pick it up again down the line when I'll be more inspired.
Too bad because I was liking the story.

I'm definitely no good with SRPGs...

Now it's Silent Hill Book of Memories break time then a lengthy game with a school setting in times of war for PSP!

Easily my favorite RPG this genre - I've been thinking about playing thru it once more after I'm done with Shin Megami IV.

Such a shame that it bombed. Few RPGs this generation captured it's personality and charm. Most didn't even come close.

Not really a complaint, but hard mode should have been the default. It's too easy to break the battle system on normal once you realize anyone can acquire anyone's skills. Hard makes it still a challenge.

I've been playing Shin Megami Tensei IV, it's one of the best j-rpgs out.
Whenever I play SMTIV, I start to reminisce about the times when I was playing Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga for some reason.
After I complete Shin Megami Tensei IV, I'd still have to finish up Soul Hackers, in which I'm still stuck on Shemyaza.

Did Blue Dragon really bomb? I mean the game got two sequels, even though they are both very different.

I think it did - it certainly didn't do well enough for an Xbox sequel. I also recall it being discounted here in the US very quickly.

I don't recall how the reviews went, but I seem to remember some reviewers getting hung up about some slowdown during the battle sequences... Bunch of dicks. :-)

Playing Nocturne for the first time and loving the atmosphere of the game. I might give Digital Devil Saga a try afterwards, always wanted to play that too.

Been playing some Crystal Chronicles.

Surprisingly enjoyable even in single.

I love you.

I just beat Final Fantasy Tactics for the first time, which was an incredible game, so now it's back to Final Fantasy 7. Having the urge to invite the guys over for some FF:CC too!

I'd play with you guys if you were nearby, haha. Crystal Chronicles is still one of my favorite multiplayer experiences of all time. Would love to see a new one on the 3DS, because I loved the DS ones as well.

Yes, it bombed. The other Blue Dragons are by other publishers, not by Microsoft. Microsoft will never work with Blue Dragon ever again because it was such a disappointment sales-wise.

They could just re-release the current one on WiiU with online support, honestly. It's like the game was built for it, eh.

It really is a ridiculously enjoyable experience and I'd love a new game, although I didn't enjoy the DS games as much as the GCN one. It always bugged me how they turned Selkies into the 'archers' >:(

Did you like the sequels just as much?

Finished Persona 4 a couple of weeks ago so I decided to start Project X Zone. 18 hours in and I'm enjoying it so far.

Playing Xenoblade for the first time.. about 23 hours in. The landscapes blow me away (the rest is ace too), it's incredible. The whole setting is like something thought up by a radical dreamer which would normally (:() never actually be made.. I'm kind of amazed it did, and so well realised. Enthralled.

Same here. This is my 2nd full playthrough, though I have played through half of the game 3 times since beating it the first time, and what stopped me each time was the high asking price, and the thought that this game was still relatively easy to find...fast forward 7 months later, and much searching, I finally secured another copy, and have decided to exhaust everything this game has to offer. Honestly, I am shocked by how much I missed before...this game is freaking huge. I love this game to death

Well, at least there seemed to be enough interest in the IP to warrant additional games even if they were picked up by other publishers. I think there was an anime series, too. And all of them were localized.

Playing through post game content on Ni No Kuni some it though is very grindy.

Fighting the golden honkey tonkers (if thats the right name) is ridiculous. Ive probably spent 4 hours trying to steal the scrolls of truth. Ive used the technique to spawn a golden glim so Swain can use his secret move. But the golden glims never come out. Only need 2more no turning back I guess.

Still playing Baten Kaitos Origin, it got preety dam hard.
Probably need tp grind a little.
I
'm fighting against Guillo and he got massive defense and preety high damage

Want to pick up Final Fantasy XIII again (stopped in chapter 7). I just want to beat the entire game at this point.

Also have Final Fantasy XIII-2 to play but I haven't started that up yet.

Playing Tales of Symphonia for the GCN (and yes I know a remake is coming out next year and will be getting it as well).

Also playing FFTactics (PSX) and halfway done with the last chapter in the game - I'm almost done with all the extra character sidequests and pub requests.

My next two RPGs I will play will be

-Star Ocean The Last Hope International (PS3)
-Paper Mario (N64)

Nearly 5 hours into STM 4. Game is hella-good. I almost want to start up a nocturne game too but I need to finish my session of digital devil saga and ffxiii too. However ffiv is coming and I may not be able to spare the time.

Currently Playing:

Shin Megami Tensei IV

Put on hold:
So many JRPGs. I love these things, but I honestly wish they weren't so long. It's pretty rare I actually finish one these days.

i started pokemon black today.. 5hrs in and its my new favorite in the series! the faster pace in battles, the creative arenas, the story and the characters are leagues ahead of the other pkmn games imho

Still playing Dragon Quest V. A lot sure has happened since I last posted which was leaving the slave camp. I'm in Gotha now.

I think the battle system feels very friendly, I guess is the word I'll use. I enjoy it a lot and love some of the monster designs. The whole monster-collecting feature is fun, though I've been primarily using the same two or three on a team despite leveling up the rest.

I also like interacting with characters after story chapters have passed.

The second time Bianca fainted made me laugh, because I shouted "What, are you pregnant or something?" And lo and behold...

Picked up SMTIV yesterday, but I want to go back to Soul Hackers first, which I've put off.
