what jrpg are you playing right now ?

EDIT
Tried a bit of FFXV Gladiolus on stage 13 and then turned it off..

Epilogue, post-game on Lunar 2 Eternal Blue on SS

Chiro Mongrel hunting for exp grinding

Managed to grab a sealed copy of Yakuza 3 and I couldn't be happier! About four hours in and I'm enjoying it even more than the first two. This series is a treasure.

Decided to get a used copy of Y4 with it as well, since I found one on the cheap. With these plus Y5 already installed thanks to PS+, I'm all set until I get to Y0.

I'm currently playing Dragon Quest Builders, and I'm loving it :) It really does feel like a Drago Quest game, and it makes the Minecraft-part of it feel more focused and objective driven than the real Minecraft. Thus making the game much more fun for me.

What is this game about?

BTW
I'm still playing Nier: Automata and it's so good. I said previously that the game didn't look good but let me rephrase that: the graphics are certainly not as detailed and clean as in other games but art direction is so amazing that even though graphics look rough around the edges the game still looks gorgeous. Did that make sense?

I still don't have a clue how can I alter the story of the game to get to see all those endings but I refuse to search online until I beat the game for the first time.

Trails in the Sky on Vita... Been playing on and off for over a year lol. I am in Ruan now and this game bores me to death. I can't understand the praise it gets. Everyone says OMG WORLD BUILDING and NPC HAVE TONS OF DIALOGUE but it is not interesting at all...
I will push it one more this weekend...

I loved TitTS FC, but I fell off on the SC. The game is very "RPG Maker" in its appearance and music. Generic. But the dialaoge and writing and story support it through its end. And the battle system is pretty good too, but a bit slow, but not as slow as FFIX.

... Now doing that all again with Second Chapter was too much for me. So yeah, I agree. SC got boring for me and I dropped out. It's a slow paced game for sure, you gotta be in the mood for that cup of tea.

I really can't understand hating on the OST for Trails in the Sky. Graphics? Sure, but the music is amazing.

Honestly the music was my least favorite parts of the game... some of the boss battle themes were good but the rest of the game with the accordians... just did not work for me. Disappointing since I'm a huge fan of other Falcom soundtracks.

Going through Shadow Hearts II and it feels incredibly varied. The game is full of tiny towns made up of one or two screens and relatively short dungeons, but the sheer amount of them add up to an impressive amount of locations at what can't be more than 30% of the game.

Of course, the visuals in this game are pretty rough for the year in which it was released, but it makes up for it.

Just finished Final Fantasy 13 LR after owning it for a number of years. The low metacritic scores lowered my expectations going into it, but I really enjoyed my time with the game.

The story is a little weak, but the game mechanics (battle system, side quests) are interesting/unique and the world is fun to explore. The time mechanic wasn't really a factor, but I have to admit I missed a couple of events because I was a minute or two late (smart use of chronostasis will help avoid this).

The final battle though....wow, took me a while to beat that. It's quite a challenge as it requires a thorough understanding of the battle system.

Overall, a great game..definitely underrated.

Panzer Dragoon Saga before Persona 5 steals my heart.

First time playing PDS? That game sticks in your mind for weeks after playing it, a masterpiece. I took my sweet ass time filling the map out 100% because I'm crazy, did the same thing in Skies of Arcadia and even then it was around 20 hours play time.

Just downloaded Cosmic Star Heroine on Steam.

If you've ever enjoyed a JRPG in your life, you should try this. The combat system is one of the best, innovative things I've ever played. Seriously. This game is worth your time and money ($11.99 launch week, then $14.99).

Finished tits on steam on 2014, barely started SC a few days ago. Done with the prologue, was pretty fun!

It took me about 4 months to finish the first game, hopefully I can finish this before 3rd chap hits steam :o

Near the end of the final true ending dungeon of the PS2 version Persona 4 on PCSX2. Want to finish the game before I return home and finally get to play Persona 5 in 5 weeks.

Chie, Yukiko and Yosuke are my final team and the composition works really well, now that Chie finally has God Hand she is more than worth the slot in the party and it quite makes up for the long stretch of time where she was just mediocre thanks to bad skill progression. Can't run without Yukiko, she is just too strong a healer not to bring along (dat Salvation, doe). Meanwhile getting perverse joy out of having permanently shelved Teddy about three dungeons ago, the final form of his persona is just emberrasingly ugly and more than redeems the decision (in addition to him being pretty obnoxious in the late game).

Very overrated game in my opinion. I forced myself to play through the damn thing because I'm so bad about finishing JRPGS. Don't kid yourself though, it's not worth it if you don't love it already. If I were 14 I could see myself liking it. Combat was decent though.

Honestly suikoden 1 was more fun.

P5 all over my face. When that's down I'll hit P4 which I only played a little of ages ago when I had no clue how the series worked.

just finished demon's souls (my first souls game) and absolutely loved it. trying to decide if I should go forth and try to conquer ds 1 and 2 or take a breather and pace myself so not to burn out. considering starting lightning returns so i can give myself some closure in the ffxiii series.

I'm playing P5 trying to max out all the SLs. This is my second time playing it since I played the Japanese version when it was released last year.

I'm also playing Nier: Automata. I'm in the middle of Route B at the moment.

I also wanted to play through DSIII the Ringed City but got my copy of Persona 5 earlier than I thought so I dropped it momentarily.

Trying to decide between p5 and nier after I finish botw. Any thoughts?

62 Hours into Digimon Cyber Sleuth on what I believe is the last chapter. Man the plot twists and what not are hitting fast and hard. Really into this game. Hope there is a bit more side content for the final hours so I can grind and get the digimon I want for the final encounters.

My only real complaint is the last 10 hours the exp gain has not really gotten higher, been around the same range if not expanded in range from like 500~2500exp per battle by mixing in weaker enemies with stronger ones when revisiting areas.

Looking forward to finishing it and moving onto Nier.

FFXV but i feel like I'm just going through the motions, just waiting for the Cosmic star heroine patch to hit the EU, heard nothing but good things.

Finished Digimon Cyber Sleuth. Skipped the last 2 or so challenge quests after losing once lol, just because I was not interested in the unlocks. Really enjoyed the game and was surprisingly good. Had a few flaws like a bit unbalanced in the grind but very good. Might grab the sequel when it drops, definitely recommend it for a JRPG Digimon fan.

Now trying to decide what to move on to as my next handheld title.

Thinking:

Wild Arms 2 (Vita)

Just started it after owning it for years but never starting it (vita has been great for this!) and I think I'm in the mood for this. Also going to start Nier in earnest after I return from Hong Kong.

About 2 hours into World of Final Fantasy and jesus i can't stand the main guy or the script in general. Who the fuck is this written for?

Just beat Xenoblade Chronicles X after like... having it since day one, starting, then stopping, then blasting my way to the second to last chapter and stopping for 6 months, then finally just sitting down last night and doing the last 2 hours lol. Had no idea I was that close to the end.

Such a love hate game. Love the setting and general idea of the combat and exploration but damn they made so many nonsense decisions with the pacing and game design. MMO style fetch quests, randomized item collection with quest items and upgrades with only hints being "its in this area tehehehe go grab every crystal for an hour and hope you get 15 of these! hehehe"

Enjoyed the game after I started cheating with my save and injected items I needed for quests and upgrades lol. Eliminating the grind where not needed helped a ton with my enjoyment and exploring and doing it where I wanted. Discovering random small inlets or caves of items was fun. The world map given really was well made though the game's overall balance was all over the place. Would love to revisit it fresh but given all the annoyances with the game I think I'll pass for a while.

Started Wild Arms 2 as well. Good classic fun, but man I hate the font lol. And holy crap I forgot how brutal some PS1 era RPGs were in their puzzles. Like 0 hints just trial and error lol.

Completed Persona 5 and immediately started Trails in the Sky The 3rd

Trying to complete that and then go back and clear some titles I've left hanging before summer classes kick off next month. Specifically Dragon Quest IV and Xenosaga Episode II

Still playing Persona 5, just started Trails in the Sky the 3rd. Have Nioh, Nier Automata and Cosmic Star Heroine on the back burner.

Currently playing 4 JRPGS along with replaying the Uncharted collection.

Doing some trophy clean up in Persona 5 and still enjoying the game.

About halfway thru Cosmic Star Heroine and about 15 hours into Tales of Berseria and still not sure how much I like both of them.

Also replaying Xenogears on my Vita and loving it.

Haven't really kept up with Switch releases does anyone know of any JRPG games exclusive to it? Really want to get back into playing it some more.

Finished Xenoblade five days ago but I STILL CAN'T STOP PLAYING IT TO THIS DAY. I remember at one point when i was playing the game specifically when I was on the bridge to Frontier Village on Makna forest that I thought this game, this game has to have fell from heaven it's unbelievably goood. and I have just ordered the Monado Archives art book and can't wait for it to arrive :D

right now I have a lot of time and a lot of games to play
and will probably start one of these tomorrow
-Tales of Berseria
-Final Fantasy xv
-Nier Automata
-Chrono Trigger
-Valkyrie Profile
-Vagrant Story
-Pandora's Tower
-Shadow Hearts
-Drakengard 3
and plan on playing Xenoblade X soon but not after I finish at least five games.

I was playing Lesser Mern, an obscure RPG for the FM-Towns yesterday. Reminds me a bit of a Ys game in terms of interface, but gameplay wise it's pretty standard RPG. But it has a cool intro and lots of loading.

This weekend looks to be relatively light for me so I'm gonna play as much Persona 5 as possible. I just beat the second 'act' of it.

Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii U, it was cheap in the eshop so i thought why not try this acclaimed masterpiece. Really liking it so far.

Ray Gigant on Steam, bought for 5€.

Not a terrible game but, man, everything is just bland and easy.

Good waifus, I must say.

I am on a 3rd playthrough of Persona 5 - but it's not urgent as I have the Platinum - and I am some 10 hours into Nier Automata which isn't a JRPG as such but hey it has side quests so I'll mention it.

Gravity Rush 2 if that counts. The game started slow with some questionable mission designs but it got better and I'm enjoying the game now.

Also have Berseria installed. Will play it after I'm done with Gravity Rush 2.
