what jrpg are you playing right now ?

You will. Yuri is one of the best protagonists in any JRPG, if not the best.

Haha, was trying to interpret that gif and I think this cleared it up?

Ok, I'm glad to hear it, cause he just seems kind of smug and off putting now. Glad to hear that I'll end up liking him

WA 2 is such a poorly balanced game in that regard. It's also really, really ugly. Kinda makes me wished they had kept the hand drawn art style in 1 and had 3D in battles only. The translation also makes me scratch my head regularly. Like those two comic relief enemies you run into.

I disagree a lot. The texture quality in the game is amongst the best on the system, and it has some interesting lighting too. It's really quite impressive. Though I admit that I didn't notice until I started playing it on my PSP Go.

I wish I'd taken more screenshots... apparently I only took a handful.

WA2 had some sections that scared/confused me as a kid, mostly involving Ashley's transformations into Knightblazer. Still an all around great game, though. Especially the world map music.

As I said earlier, I'm playing through for the first time, the story is pretty zany and goofy overall. I just beat the
Dragon-Nuke....yeah . The cutscenes afterwards were a little touching, with Marina grabbing Ashley's hand while he was going berserk.

I finally started up Crimson Shroud on Friday, but I'm stuck in the second chapter grinding for an item that's apparently necessary for story progression. I'm not at all a tabletop RPG kind of guy, but I was actually enjoying the game up til this point. I've spent an hour clearing the same room with no luck at all...I'm getting burned out fast on it. :/

I was really pleased that Sony decided to just give everyone Wild Arms for free earlier this year for no reason at all. It's a series I'd totally written off but sampling the first 10 minutes was enough to notice the game's charm and music, which is enough to put it at the end of my RPG backlog. It'll have a good place on my list of Only Care About the First Entry PSX RPG Series (see Parasite Eve, Valkyrie Profile, Grandia, FF Tactics, etc.)

That font is so hard to read :(

That's too bad, since there are other good games in the series. (And VP2 is better than VP1.)

Just finished Paper Mario Thousand Year Door. Loved it, my only minor issue was the loooong unskippable cutscene during the final boss. (died once, annoying to go through that again)

Not playing any right now. I started Trails in the Sky FC some time ago, but I took the PS3 version and can't find the motivation to sit down and play this that way, especially with how ugly it looks on a big screen.

I like what I played of it so far though (about 7-8 hours IIRC) and I REALLY want to try harder to get into this. So I'm thinking of rebuying the PSP version off PSN once I get a Vita, soon enough.

Huh, I think the PS3 HD version is pretty great looking, myself. The texture quality in the PSP version is much worse.

I dunno, come chat with me in 20XX when I get through everything in my backlog and maybe you'll be talking to a Wild Arms convert!

I don't understand your paranthetical and I won't respond to it.

This is the only Persona I liked. Weirdly I really love P3P because they cut out alot of moving around and boring shit so it's pretty much straight story/dungeons.

Agree on it being good, but not platform purchase good.

The relationship stuff was only added in P3. All persona games before it were pure dungeon crawling. You should check them out.

Aeana, the maps in WA may be beautiful, but my god the 3D models of the enemies ...

Grandia is a first entry Saturn RPG. ; )

Well, it looks a lot better than WA1's battles at least.

I always forget this! I have the same issue with Soul Hackers.

SMT2 has been going well, looks like my chances of beating it before E3 and any SMT x FE news is pretty solid.

You should follow my PSX playthrough of 2 so you can see the differences!

Heh, really? Anyway, I think my problem lies more with the platform itself, since I play my portables much more, especially now that I started working and spend much more time commuting than before. It just feels to me like it'd work better (for me) on a portable.

But I don't know really. It's kind of a waste since I already got the PS3 version. I'm trying of trying again once I finish Yakuza 5.

About Trails: Are the Bracer Points really important in any way? I got every one of them until now, and it definitely wasn't a chore or anything, but I may want to go a little faster.

I'm kinda going through Wild Arms and Grandia series currently. I've beaten Wild Arms 1 and Grandia 1, currently working on Wild Arms 2.

I know Grandia 2 PS2 version isn't ideal but is it playable? Or should I go PC version? Dreamcast version isn't an option for me.

Your bracer rank determines what transfers into SC, and of course you get rewards for each rank in the game.

Rotating through a bunch, but the most recent is Paper Mario TYD (first playthrough). Just finished Twilight Town (which was really repetitive). Now the fun badges are starting to roll in.

Twilight Town is one of the more annoying aspects of PM2, but it's not as bad as
looking for that darn bob-omb guy

Currently playing Tales of Graces f on PS3.
Like the battle theme and battles look fun, but I'll prob. enjoy them even more once I have lots of CP to spend on Artes heh.

almost done with Person 3: FES. took me five years to clear this one out of my backlog...had to do it as i plan on selling my backwards compatible ps3 once ps4 comes out lol

persona 4 next!

Currently playing P4G. Want to play something new as well but I don't even know where to start since I'm a bit of a jRPG newb lol

Haha cool it looks like we have the same opinion on the music outside the factory. Did you go Neutral in your playthrough? Maybe I can follow along, I don't really like the walkthrough on Gamefaqs.

Yes, neutral. Although I think I leave out a lot of info, it may not be very useful as a walkthrough? I honestly don't remember. I know I left out a bit about one particular sidequest for sure because I was angry that I didn't take screenshots of it.

VP2 improves a lot on 1, although I wish vp2 had a difficulty selection which made you choose between easy, norm and hard, and the only way to experience the whole game was playing on hard.

overall, vp2 is superb.

still playing raidou 1. on episode 5.

I'm playing Skies of Arcadia in honor of its 10th anniversary and because I haven't played it in a long time. It really blows me away, all the little details the put into the game. I just now noticed that every NPC in the game is unique and they have their own personalities, and their dialogue constantly changes depending on the events of the game. And how Vyse can examine pretty much any interesting-looking object and talk about it... man. What a total labor of love. And all the visual details, like how the inside of the blue dungeon is meant to look like hardened lava, and all those tiny pictures and decorations everywhere. That random building in Nasrad where visitors can leave their handprints. Adds so much to making Arcadia feel alive.

Thanks! I think I'll look up what transfers and what I want and call it a day when I reach a decent objective.

edit > Well that was quick, looks like you only get something with a perfect score. Looks interesting enough, but I don't know...

Cmon now...

I thought VP2 was more "playable" than VP1.

But then, VP1 had more memorable artwork and stuff like "TO MY SIDE MY NOBLE EINHERJAR".

I'm playing P4G, but stopped around 4 months ago due to boredom (stopped right before the ski trip). I'll get back to it eventually.

You will. Yuri is one of the best protagonists in any JRPG, if not the best.

Literally the best JRPG protagonist ever, if you don't like Yuri, you have a bad taste!

I should probably replay Tales of Vesperia right now. Even though Graces F has the best battle system and level up system and so on and Abyss has the best story, Vesperia, as an overall package, is still my favorite Tales of game.

Does VP1 have a problem with freezing, or is that just my copy?

I don't remember any freezing problem... It's been a looooong time (5/6 years?) but I played it to the end two or three times so I think I'd remember.

Derp > Is is PSP or PS1 version? Because I'm talking about the PSP version.

PS1 version. I never had a problem with the PSP version either, but sometimes the battle animations don't load in my PS1 game. It's incredibly frustrating and I ended up giving up on a dungeon that would be optional for me because of it.

Tales of Graces F. For some dumb reason, I imported it from the US when it first came out and it's been sitting on my shelf for over a year. Could've just waited for the PAL version and a few price drops. Oh well, I'm still really enjoying it. Voice acting sucks but the combat system is pretty awesome.

PS2 version is playable, just that when roaming in town the framerate drops to complete disaster levels. PC Version should be better? I haven't played it unfortunately.
It's worth it for dat music and dem backgrounds. And it's nice how the dungeons are mercifully short.

Cmon now...
The voice acting alone in Baten Kaitos is so painful I quit. But Dem Clouds, Shinkai would be proud.

VP2 has a better battle system no doubt. But character recruitment is vastly superior in VP1.

Just started a new session of Final Fantasy XII to try and finally get through the game. Gonna have to finish Xenoblade at some point too.
