what jrpg are you playing right now ?

33 hours in, Chapter 6, the final chapter.

The game changes for me from easy to hard to easy again. The first two chapters were easy enough, the long ones (Chapter 3 and 4) were the ones where I had my problems (Chapter 4 last boss took me ages to get through!) and while Chapter 5 isn't too easy either, I managed to survive all the fights at least on the first try. Now, I have the feeling that the final boss will give me some trouble, so I'd rather do some nice levelling.
I love this game, from the Artstyle to the soundtrack to the gameplay. The cutscenes and characters could be better, though.
 
I've gone back to Persona 4 Golden on the Vita, I'm doing a second playthrough to get all the Trophies. Getting the Platinum shouldn't be too hard but I have a feeling the "Hardcore Risette Fan" trophy is going to be very time consuming.

On a somewhat related note, I picked up Persona 4 Arena for PS3 and I'm not really feeling it. I don't really play fighting games but I wanted to see the story and so far it's not that interesting. And why the hell did they pick the Adachi voice actor to play the main character ? What a weird choice...
 
Just finished Ni no Kuni, I had a lot of fun with it, more than any other command-RPG this generation. I'm really surprised Level-5 managed anything this good.
 
I am currently playing BLOPS2 MP. Some of those random encounters are completely bogus.

But sometimes my party members have good AI.
 
I decided to finally pick up Ni No Kuni. I knew it would be a summer game for me since I've so much time off work over summer. I like it so far after 9 hours of play.

It starts off slow so just take it easy and learn the basic mechanics. Things will start getting challenging (and fun) once the gameplay opens up somewhere around Year 2.
 
Just finished Tales of Rebirth. All in all it was an ok game, but the final boss was a real letdown when compared to some of the other fights in the game. The story was so-so, with a few moments that stood out as pretty good. I'll probably stay away from the Tales series for a while though as they can be kind of exhausting at times.

Probably moving on to Suikoden V, but I'll see if I can't play something shorter in between as I'm not sure if I want to commit to one single, long game atm.
 
Currently playing Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time (PSP). It is surprisingly difficult sometimes. It seems to do with strategy more than actual grinding for levels. Maybe some equipment setup as well but as someone who has played through many JRPGs, this one tests my patience sometimes. Mostly the escort and special missions.

I'm really liking the older anime art style though some of the characters' clothes are a bit absurd purely for fan service. I'm suspecting the characters I want to recruit are not recruitable.

Is this game any good ?

I never played the Atelier series before but it sounds like something I would like. Atelier Totori or Ayesha are probably better but I already own Annie and my gaming budget isn't that big...

So is it worth playing or am I better off waiting a little bit in order to buy another Atelier game in the future ?

Yeah, it probably sounds ridiculous for me to ask if I should play something that I already own but I bought that game years ago and my backlog is pretty insane. I'm just wondering if it's worth the time investment...

This game is hilarious. You really should play it. Even beginning can leave you in tears from laughter. You just need playful mood.
Play it second time for more relaxed gameplay. First time around is hard to do everything because of time mismanagement.

Oh, and a game is pretty short.

This thread is awesome... fitting since I have declared this summer "the summer of PS2 RPGs".

I'm catching up with the Suikoden series... finished off Suikoden Tactics last week and made a start on Suikoden III. I've played all the rest.

I thinking of continuing with my Wild Arms series next. Wild Arms 2 is on the schedule. I've only ever played 1 and 3 but have all the rest.

It's going to be a great summer!
 
Just started Ni No Kuni this morning. feels great to play a console RPG again, and it feels like a breath of fresh air. Has that nice charm to and magic to it that I haven't felt in a while
 
Still playing Legend of heroes: TitS and Fire Emblem Awakening.

Reached chapter 3 in Legend of Heroes. I'm finally bothering to actually bother to get good spells which I should have done earlier.

I took a break from FEA but today I completed 2 chapters and a side quest.

my man ! I have suikoden tactics, but I"m still at that chapter where you find out your pops died.

any tips on this game ? seems like a good srpg.

It's a cute, short and inoffensive game about crafting. Not too much of a jrpg though, there isn't almost any combat and the exploration is non-existent. It's pretty much all about crafting and managing your resources.
 
Just finished Nocturne yesterday, and got the
True Demon
ending.

I'll probably try to get back into Xenoblade. I was only about six hours in last time I played, then stopped because of Fire Emblem Awakening.
 
Playing through Tales of Legendia since I wanted to complete it before Xillia hits in August. Will probably move on to Eternia right after since I have unfinished business with it.
 
Ni No Kuni (just got the boat and fighting Shadar and getting owned, so need to grind)
Persona 4 Golden (just got Kanji, but kinda losing interest because I already nearly finished the PS2 version)
Rune Factory 1 (playing through the ones I haven't before Rune Factory 4 is out)

I'm still somewhere in the game. chapter 6 or 5. it's....not very fun for a tales game.

It is pretty basic and ho-hum compared to other games in the series, but it's not totally unplayable (I wouldn't exactly call if awful like others have). I'll admit it's not something I'll probably play again, though. The music is pretty good at times, which helps!

I'm having a lot of trouble with this game, Its like everytime I think I get the combat I just end up failing lol.
 
I've been playing Persona 4 Golden since it was released. It just gets so boring halfway through a dungeon I end up putting it down for a month or two and then coming back to it.

But I'm also Playing Wild Arms 2 after completing WA1, and I'm enjoying myself.

It took me two hours to get it, and once it clicks it's really awesome. Don't forget that you have to shoot the enemies with the machine gun first to do massive scratch damage, then handguns or grenades to deal direct damage + the damage you did with the MG already. And look at the bezels at the bottom - losing all (by doing special attacks or losing all the HP of one member) will put you in danger.

This game is pretty underrated. It's nothing spectacular, but from a purely storytelling perspective, it's like Konami realized everything they didn't do right in IV and fixed it for Tactics.

As cool as they looked, people who wield giant two handed weapons tended to be pretty useless in my game. Decent damage output, but their horrible speed did not make up for it. A party member by the name of Coop is a prime example of this. He had my favorite character design in the game,
and the benefit of being from Scarlet Moon
, but he was just... not that good. I used him anyway because I liked the character, but if you're the min/max type, stay away from two handed weapons.
 
After 14 years, I bring myself back to Final Fantasy VII, my very first traditional RPG. Right now, I am still currently on the first disc, at the ancient ruins.
 
A bit of FFX-2 but mostly Tales of Graces F - been playing it for months and still haven't 100%ed it yet, what a great Tales game. Yeah, yeah the story is what it is, but it's all about the gameplay.
