jesus h. christ. every five or so minutes, the damn thing signs me off, then immediatly signs me back on. it's been like this for two days now. let's not mention the delayed messages...

i unistalled my previous version of aim, downloaded 5.9, and i'm STILL having the same problems.

WTF.

ok, this is a problem with mIRC, too. i can still search the web whenever and without problems, yet aim and mIRC are a no-no?

wtf is this?

ne1 have an idea?

Well, if it's like my problem, it's because your roommate resets the router 20 TIMES a day (No exaggeration) because we lag up an EMPTY CS server he runs on a home connection.

Your connection is probably dropping out and picking back up very quickly, so you wouldn't notice anything with normal web browsing, but something like AIM that requires a constant connection is getting screwed. I had this problem with my D-Link router back in the day.

that's exactly what it is. how do i rectify the problem? i've already unplugged my router and main cable line, let them sit, and then plugged them back in.

still the same shit, though.

Limit your connection on BitTorrent to 50 people.
That should fix most of it.
That, or you can be like me, and plot to kill one of your roommates.

I sorta have a similar issue. Ever since I started using a wireless router with my laptop AIM will do this thing where it doesn't sign me off, but just shows everyone on my buddy list re-signing on. Happens every 10-20 minutes. And since I have myself on my list (yeah, I know) it thinks I've signed on a second instance somewhere else and alerts me to that. I don't quite get it but it's not much of a problem. I'll probably take myself off, even though I like the easy reference.
