What? There's a standard wired X360 controller too?

im sure some people will refuse to accept wireless and demand a cord.. probably cheaper than the wireless version

but yes, the pack in better be wireless.

Yeah, I've known people who were ridiculously attached to corded controllers. I knew someone who traded in a Wavebird to repurchase a Controller and extension cable for their Cube for some crazy reason.

Fortunately, Microsoft seems to be making such a big deal about this wireless controller, that I do expect it to be packed in. Note that they have specifically not confirmed what will be in the launch package though.

the wireless features rumble.

im gonna say the system comes with a wired controller.

after reading around xbox.com i also found out the rechargable battery pack for the wireless controllers is extra too, not standard.

Latency &Power issues with wireless controllers.

Also theres the fact that wireless controllers are unneccessary, since you will probably never play a game from further back than the cord length (and its not really that inconvenient having a cord :|).

Anywho, I thought that they had a cord for the wireless controller to charge it (that you could unplug at will) - shouldn't that remove the need for a seperate wired controller?

Says you I play far enough away from my consoles that I couldn't imaging anything but a wireless controller anymore.

The wireless controller uses a USB cable to plug in and charge IIRC.

honestly who wants to be in the middle of an all-night gaming session to have the batteries on a wireless go out?

they should pack-in a regular one so that playability is never an issue, and those that want wireless can pick up the other ones, or maybe include a corded in the $300 package and a wireless in that $360 package...

I think the cord theyre talking about is just packed in with the wireless controllers. You know, like the adapter was also included with the PSP en DS? Kinda makes an awful lot of sense don't you think?

No, the page linked in the original post lists "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller" and "Xbox 360 Controller" as clearly distinct peripherals.

Where the fuck do you plug in the wired controllers? I don't see anywhere on the console to plug the controllers into.

Aren't the USB ports on the back of the console though? That doesn't seem like a good place to plug a controller into.

One on the back two on the front (under the flap by the power button)

Ok, I wondered what that thing was. I guess it hides the ports. Anyone have a shot of the machine with the flap open?
