What TV shows would you reccomend?

I rarely watch TV but my favourite shows are Breaking Bad, Prison Break and Mr Robot. I tried True Detective but didn't like it much either than the personal drama stuff mid season. Preferably 40-50 minutes, if not then a short running series or an anthology.

I mean it depends on what you are looking for. Action? Comedy? Drama?, etc.

If you liked Breaking Bad, did you try Better Call Saul?

What is your favorite genre ? If you like crime/mystery/thriller , you could try Kdrama series .

I love True Detective S1 and Person of Interest personally , and then I ventured to Kdrama thrillers like

Voice S1
Beyond Evil
The Glory
Mouse
Flowers of Evil
Signal
Kairos
Tunnel
Stranger

And they're amazing , dripped with atmosphere and very focused in term of plots . Most of them are available on Netflix

Like WhiteWaterM00se WhiteWaterM00se and newtypepilot newtypepilot have said, if you enjoyed Breaking Bad then Better Call Saul is definitely worth checking out. I finished it a couple months ago and thought it was fantastic.

Outside of that give The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood, Succession, The Bear, BoJack Horseman, or Band of Brothers a try.

Maybe it is just me… These threads about tv/movies/books/music has been the most interesting threads over the last year.

Maybe gaming news is just slow but, I have found these threads more interesting for sometime now.

Amazing, mindbending experience. It does have its share of drama though, but all of it is in service of the plot and not just for the sake of drama.

Expertly crafted mystery.

My favorite show of the last few years has been Severance
Dise%C3%B1o%20sin%20t%C3%ADtulo%20%282%29.jpg

A great mix of unique ideas which give place to interesting themes, great characters and performances and an overall weird and mysterious tone which I love.
The basic premise is about a dude who works at a company which makes you undergo a procedure in which while you are at work you don't remember anything about your life outside of it, and while you aren't working you don't remember anything you do at work.

That said it does have "mystery box" elements to it, and with only 1 season out so far there's still plenty of time to disappoint. Though I would argue Season 1 would even work well as a standalone story even if it doesn't explain everything.

On the animated front I really liked Scavengers Reign
49ae26f26931839ad88ac02777d6f24fc22a2134.jpg

It's about a group of people trying to survive (and possibly escape) from an alien planet on which they crashed landed on.
While the characters are compelling what I really enjoyed was the world itself. The visual style is great, it often almost looks like a Moebius work in motion, and the show focuses a lot on showcasing unique environments with weird, often unsettling, flora and fauna and the way they interact with each other (and the humans)
In a genre that's usually dominated by grey spaceship corridors or advanced alien tech, I really liked the approach of making alien biology the focus

Severance. It made me hopeful that there are still stuff in TV that will delightfully surprise me.

It was also very gorgeous visually as you can see in this Kubrick comparison picture I found:

THE Prey 2 fanatic
The Leftovers is your #1 go-to series.

Other top-tier shows

The OA
Dark
Tales from the Loop
Severance
From (if you love Lost, WATCH THIS)
Utopia (don't touch the Amazon remake, and Amazon's release of the original series has missing scenes and a cropped frame)
Barry
Better Call Saul (you've seen this, right?)
I'm a couple seasons into Succession too
I remember loving Lost, have to rewatch that

Some shows I really personally enjoy, and you might love as well, but maybe aren't absolute must-watch all-time greats

Lost in Space (Netflix remake)
Agents of SHIELD (first couple seasons aren't very good and won't hook you, massively improves in quality later)
Sweet Tooth
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance
Mrs. Davis
Maniac
Planet of the Apes (1974 series, Roddy McDowall returns from the films as another ape, Galen)
The Hexer (has a bad reputation because of the shitty compilation movie that released before it, adapts the same arc as Netflix's Witcher S1 but with a much stronger story and dialogue, also a way better Geralt)
11.22.63
Firefly
I've also been watching the show You

Some flawed shows that still have a lot to appreciate

The Third Day
Raised by Wolves
Black Summer
Into the Night + Yakamoz S-245

I'm not sure where The Boys goes, but it's real fun. I still love the first five seasons of Game of Thrones and the first two seasons of Stranger Things.

Tried and hated BCS.
I know this is annoying when people say it, especially if you've got limited time to watch stuff, but Better Call Saul is like two parts that are different, the three seasons are showing the downfall of Jimmy McGill where as the last season's are about the rise of Saul Goodman, so it does start quite slow but it does build it's way back up to Breaking Bad levels of hype.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
if you’re looking for comedy, Arrested Development (seasons 1-3) can’t be topped. Curb Your Enthusiasm is also incredible.

I’ll second Severance on Apple TV as well for a phenomenal pseudo-sci-fi drama. That show is so good that I was genuinely pissed when I found out Season 2 wouldn’t premiere until 2-3 years later (2024 or 2025). But I’ve watched it twice, it’s so good. Highly recommended, unless you hate waiting, in which case maybe just watch it when season 2 comes out.

We have very similar taste it seems so in the vein of ''illegal behaviors / moral dilemma shows'' that makes you want watch more, I highly recommend Dexter. Miami Police blood spatter expert during the day, serial killer at night that kills only criminals .

Gordan Ramsey Nightmare and Bar Rescue shows. They can get repetitive so you dont have to watch every episode, but good shit. You see gross eateries, people getting yelled at, and half the time the place hires good looking waitresses.

So is Forensic Files. The older shows that were half hour are better, skip the 1 hr ones they did later in the series. One great episode was a family with a Nortel exec. Looked like they were loaded and the perfect family. Turns out the fam was kind of broke and the dad was into gay porn and his wife found out using his PC one day.

Tip for any future criminals: Never take a life insurance policy in your spouse's name, or bother trying to clean up blood. The cops will know it's fishy and they got this cleaning chemical that shows blood in ultraviolet light or some shit. Blood stains show up no matter how good you clean the floor! lol

In all fairness you could watch the first 2 seasons which goes hand in hand as someone is on his ass early on then call it a day but I’m confident you’ll want to watch more . Season 3 and 5 are less exciting so know that but the concept always is , so as you see fit
